"3* STAR HOTEL with 4* service highly recommended"

   08-12-2016
EXCELENT and friendly (familiar) SERVICE on all levels: reception, rooms, bar, restaurant, beach etc. Very well organized welcome and departure when waitng for check-in and after check-out time: Ai all the time! Guests feel very comfortable. ROOMS very cosy and well made every day. There is a problem with good TV picture.Ground floor rooms have no possibily to dry wet towels: white used inside and dark used on the swimming pool/beach: exchanged every second day. SWIMMING POOLS: small, used mainly by children. Sun beds comfortable but not enough for many guests. The same situation on the beach. Restaurant: enough place - no wating time. Meals well prepared. Fish and chicken almost every lunch and dinner but sometimes lamb, veal and sea food, too. French fried potatos and pizza very often. Exceptional good fresh and marinated fruit. Rich English breakfast - even with bacon for special order. Bar: very long list of very good drinks - but be carefull: only drinks with ** are AI - rest is paid.My suggestion: premium AI guests should have special stripes as bar tenders do not know which drinks guests can get for free and ask for room no!. I recommend local whisky but do not understand why local brandy is not AI - as many kinds of rum, gin etc. are free? Guests can get bottles of water at the bar and at room minibar: very usefull as bar is open at 11 AM. The same: on the beach. Beach: on the other side of the road but it is not a problem to cross the road with assistance of the hotel security officer. Old demaged shallow coral reef close to the beach: special shoe requierd. EXTRAS: minibar is an exception at 3* hotel. Hotel organize two trips for free (for guests staying >7 days): glass bottom boat with snorkelling option and full day on the tropical island (normally cost circa 40€) - preparing lunch buskets. Tips: very good and not expensive taxi service offering many trips and is more safe than hiring car (narrow busy roads, many accidents). I recommend new white Toyota Prius comfortable even for 6 persons. Cost of 10 hour long trip: 3600 RS! Trip program: standard list of attractions or as you wish - driver is good guide!

"Good if you like all inclusive package holidays"

   26-11-2016
This hotel is focused on all inclusive package holiday tourists. So if you like this kind of holidays this is not a bad choice. The hotel and facilities are nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beach is across the street and is a nice beach for Mauritius (Beaches here are coral sand beaches inside the reef, these are not white pouder sand beaches). The food was not that good. We did not like the dinner, breakfast was OK. Main problem is, that it is a buffet that is made to suit 150 guests. Accordingly most dishes are quite tasteless. The mauritian kitchen has a lot to offer but is seems neither spices nor chili nor a bit more exotic ingredients are used. There are only very few options for eating and shopping in walking distance and in general if you want to see something else or go somewhere else for food, shopping etc you need a car or to take a taxi. If you like package holidays, food is not that important for you and you do not want to see a lot of the island as relaxing on the beach and pool is your main intention you will be happy here. For people who are more into travelling (seeing the country, meeting people, try local food) than making holidays, Trou D,eau Doux might be the better place to look for accomodation in this region. This is the reason why i am giving only 3 points as for us this hotel did not really fit our way of travelling, but i can understand why other people who prefer different holidays liked this place.

"INTIMATE CHARMING & FRIENDLY 3*HOTEL NEAR A LONG, LOVELY BEACH"

   25-11-2016
This hotel is a MUST for those who like small hotels where very quickly you get to know the friendly staff and other guests. Also if you like your spicy ( in flavour ) Oriental foods , this hotel is for you. The rooms are a good size and are regularly cleaned, possibly could do with more drawer space. A safe is provided free of charge in the room. The 2 swimming pools have the most comfortable loungers around them , the pools are compact and clean. Next to the pools is the bar with sand underfoot. The All Inclusive cocktail list does not have as many choices as at other hotels we have been to , but ask Sami and he will make a 'creamy' or fruity cocktail for you. In the restaurant , you select your table. 3 nights in the week the menu is Table d'hote served to you by the staff, the other nights are help yourself buffet. Breakfast you can have spicy foods or eggs or omelettes . You can request bacon. Lunch , there is always pizza , fish , curries of varying flavours. Entertainment is 5 nights out of 7 , local dancers , local band and DJ nights. Yes the music is loud , finishes at 11/12 but we found the double glazing was good enough to quieten the music. The lovely white sandy beach is magnificent and although it is across a road , do not be put off !!! The security guard will signal to you when ok to cross ( the female guard is always smiling) , It is not a busy road. IT IS WELL WORTH going to the beach. Loungers are brought to the beach and bar staff bring mini pizzas and bottles of water at 11 then they take orders for drinks. The staff ARE the main asset of this hotel, from Shiv , the General Manager, to Dev , the handyman. All are only too pleased to assist to make your holiday enjoyable. They are friendly and greet you with a smile. Star of the team, for us, was Sarita in the restaurant. She is always there to give 5 star attention to the guests and nothing is too much trouble for her. Very quickly she knew what table we would like and what we were having to drink. We missed her when it was her day off. There is a beauty parlour , we had a lovely 90 minute full body massage. If you enjoy this luxury treat for your holiday , go on try it , it was very relaxing. The hotel also offers a glass bottom boat trip & a day trip to Ile aux Cerf ( well worth a visit) for free if you stay 7 nights. The beach is stunning there and the hotel provide you with a packed lunch & taxis to and from the jetty. Overall, a charming intimate relaxing holiday at the Emeraude Beach Hotel. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful holiday in Mauritius.

"Nothing too much trouble"

   22-11-2016
We have just returned from our second trip to Emeraude and once again it did not disappoint. We were greeted like old friends and made to feel really special as most of the staff remembered us. This hotel is not a five star luxury mausoleum with every facility. It's strength is its staff and the way they make the visitors feel. The new manager Desire set the scene well and greeted us personally on arrival- he also touched base with us most days to see if we were happy. The staff in the restaurant are lovely. I eat gluten free and Sachin could not have done any more to ensure that I had plenty of choice and confidence in the menus. Daby and Pretty were equally helpful when Sachin was off duty. The menus were interesting and the style of eating in the evening was varied- from buffet style, to barbecue to a la carte served at the table. The waiting staff are a happy hardworking and fun team. Surita, Jimmy, Ardash,Anniket and Varsha all looked after us superbly- remembering from one day to the next what we liked to drink and where we preferred to sit. The rooms are pretty and well appointed- the ground floor ones are bigger so are termed superior. The "standard" slightly smaller upstairs rooms can have better views. The choice is yours - choose what is important to you! The house keeping is to a high standard and the gardens are lush, full of flowers and kept immaculately. Our holiday was like staying with friends- from the staff on the beach to the girls in the spa everyone was full of smiles and wanted to help us enjoy our holiday. If there were nt enough sun loungers - one would be found, chairs could be rearranged in the bar and rain only added to the fun. It is the tropics after all! Our favourite trips were the day at the Ile aux Cerf arranged by the hotel and the Otentik evening meal ' at home' with Sachin and his family on Wednesday evenings- both are really worth a visit.

"Nice.. however"

   21-11-2016
I done a lot of research on the resort before visiting, don't take much notice of the hotels official website because nothing is what it says and it's all very different when you get here. Dining: the website says the hotel has a strict dress code in the restaurant at mealtimes.. it doesn't!! I was wearing swimming shirts and flip flops and all kinds of things, as were most people, nobody said a thing about it. Website says it has an ala carte restaurant for those who are all inclusive.. it doesn't, it has two nights where the "one" restaurant has an ala carte menu (with very minimal choice on offer) the food in general is very repetitive and you'll find yourself eating the same things over and over again, The gift shop is VERY expensive!! There are shops at the end of the road where you can get things much cheaper! Do NOT book excursions with your rep!! They're VERY expensive!! Go to the local shops and book all your tours a lot cheaper!! The local people are lovely and very warming! The swimming pool is nice but it's in need of a major water change as it's very cloudy! There are not enough seats in the bar area to accommodate customers should they be staying when the hotel is full, get to the bar area early in the evenings or you'll find yourself sitting on a pool bed cushion which has been laid on a long wall! The beach is very dirty (public beach) and is covered with litter, I arrived when an Indian festival was taking place, the following day, the beach looked like a dump site, I was told the beach would eventually be cleaned, two weeks later it was still there. You cannot fault the staff, the general manager was a bit up his own backside but other than that, everyone was lovely, just be mindful of the expense, and try to use cash over debit cards, don't ask people to convert the cost into £££s because they will always make it sound cheaper than it actually is.. a snorkel mask and a bottle of sun cream, was told it would be £24, checked my bank and it actually cost me nearly £50 for the two (£1.45 bank charge),
