Veranda pointe aux biches review My wife and I have recently returned from a 10 night stay and had one of the most enjoyable chilled holidays ever. It all started the moment we stepped out of our airport transfer minibus when the reception staff greeted us and took our luggage away to our room. We were given cooling towels to wipe ourselves after our long trip before being checked in swiftly and then taken on a quick tour of the hotel and it's facilities. Our second floor Comfort room overlooked the gardens with a partial sea view and was clean and modern with a fantastic walk in shower. The room was made up every day and the towel art that the maid created on our bed was amazing. We read some reviews of the birds in the open air restaurant being bothersome, but if you did not leave your table unattended then they posed no problem at all. Food was plentiful, varied and very tasty with something for everyone. I'm a vegetarian and the restaurant staff would offer to make me a meal if there was nothing I fancied on the main buffet menu. The Footloose bar staff were fantastic and made an excellent selection of cocktails. The local Phoenix beer was also very good, as was the locally brewed export Guinness that was 7.5% strength! The entertainment team work so hard to keep everyone involved in their activities, but are not pushy if you don't want to join in. They are especially good with the children who all seemed to look forward to seeing the team arrive each morning. A very big thank you to all the staff at the Veranda Pointe aux Biches hotel for making our holiday so memorable.
"Excellent service, wonderful hotel"
We have recently returned from a two week holiday in the Sandy Lane area of this lovely hotel. It met all our expectations, what you see in the brochure and the website is exactly what you get. The hotel is in a peaceful area and kept spotless throughout. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived, given a tour of the hotel and facilities available. It was total relaxation from the minute we took off our shoes, something the hotel prides itself on, sand between your toes throughout your stay and which everyone seemed to appreciate. Our room in Sandy lane was well equipped and kept clean everyday with fresh towels, bedding, mini bar and tea and coffee replenished every day. RANEE our room maid was so delightful and caring. She made wonderful towel decorations each day and always greeted us every morning with a lovely smile and chat. She was definitely a credit to the hotel. Breakfast and lunch were taken in the main dining room. Always plenty of choice and never felt rushed. People have complained about the number of birds in the dining room in previous reports but we never found them to be a nuisance, more of an entertainment. The staff did their best to keep them away from the tables wherever people sat. We found it added to the natural environment and the colours of the birds were amazing. Evening meals were taken in the Sandy Lane restaurant. A relaxed atmosphere with varied menu each night. The waiting staff were very attentive and looked after you so well. They got to know what you liked from day one and always made sure your food and drinks were served promptly and always with a smile. Our special thanks to ANOOP and ANAELLE who always shared in a joke or two with us and made our evenings special, giving service you would expect in a 5 star restaurant. The beach was always nice and quiet, plenty of sun loungers available. Just what you need for a relaxing holiday. Volley ball and water aerobics were available for the more energetic but never intrusive. Yes the shore line could be a little stoney in places but if you take a pair of lightweight swim shoes, it doesn't become a problem.Nice walks down the beach every day soaking up the quiet atmosphere, sheer bliss. There was the usual beach sellers each day but always respected your privacy and never bothered you if you were polite and told them you weren't interested. We did book a wonderful day trip to see the island sites. Bradley made sure we had the most amazing experience. Be sure to book your trip through him. Go and have the interactive expeience with the lions, unforgettable !!! A very special mention to the bar staff who couldn't do enough for us. Bringing dinks down to the beach each day, always smiling and chatting. We have to say HUBERT was so friendly and always went out of his way. But the one person who really made our holiday so special was DEVINA. such a wonderful person who has also become a very special friend, she deserves an extra pat on the back for her manners and hard work. Overall a fabulous holiday. Definitely recommend the adult only Sandy Lane for peace and quiet. Thank you all.
"Honeymoon (11 nights)"
After spending 3 days in Dubai we where looking forward to a nice relaxing honeymoon and that is what we got. Greeted in reception by friendly staff and a cold drink was available. Overall the hotel was great, the sandy lane restaurant was excellent, the food was definitely 5 star, the staff where friendly and always there to help you out. The two waiters at sandy lane restaurant where always so happy and outgoing and made the restaurant so much more enjoyable. The main restaurant was a standard buffet, some nights where better than others, but we always found the meals to be quite random and not really themed, e.g. one night they would have chicken curry with no accompaniment then the next night they would have poppadoms with no curry to go with. So could have thought out there meal combinations better. Did not have any ice cream apart from the Ben and Jerry's (you had to pay for). Lunch time was also a buffet, similar to the dinner sometimes better, not everyone wants a heavy lunch, did not have any soup at lunch only at dinner. We found out when we where there for the end of their winter season, and start of there summer, noticed the food got a lot better just before leaving when it should really be the same all year round. The all inclusive drinks where from 11am to 11pm but bar was open till 12am, the drinks where pretty good for all inclusive there was a lot to pick from the menu and had great cocktails too. A few things happened at the footloose bar throughout our stay, we went up to order a bottle of beer and were told they had ran out, but not long after we saw people going up and getting some beer, the bar man had never left the bar during that time. we think this may have been due to us going back up to the bar to frequently, but we had finished our drinks and it is all inclusive so that shouldn't matter, we met a couple during our stay and one night we sat up until 1am just chatting in the bar after closing time which was no problem, when another night we where sitting up after closing time about 12.15am and the bar area was quiet, my husband had gone out to get some food (as their wasn't any vending machines in case you got peckish at night) the area we were sitting in got the lights turned off on us, we thought they might not have noticed us so we moved into sofa area which was still lit and carried on talking and eating. The bar men had noticed us at this point and 5 minutes later they just turned all the lights out and left us sitting in the dark, instead of coming over and asking us politely if we wouldn't mind leaving. we felt as if we had some sort of curfew when it was fine the first time when we sat and talked till 1am. On our last night my husband went to the bar at last orders at 10.55, the bar was not busy and the bar man was messing around cleaning things and seemed as if he was stalling before serving us. when he did finally serve my husband he made the drinks and put them up on the bar and then said that we would be charged for the drinks as it was after 11pm, it was probably about 11.01pm. My husband asked if we could just sign for it in the morning (as you had to sign for each drink and the past few nights we had ordered drinks just before 11pm and a different bar man had just put it through the system the next morning so we would not be charged), the bar man shrugged and turned round so my husband took the drinks. The next morning we went to check out to find we had an outstanding bill for 850 rupee, which was for the drinks, this is around £16 which no one would pay for as the drinks were just standard all inclusive style drinks, we shouldn't have been asked to pay in the first place, they sorted it out but was a totally unnecessary situation the bar man had put us in. Apart from that the hotel was great, hotel right next to the beach, free sunbathing towels, free sunbeds, free peddle boats ,beach volleyball etc. The entertainment was great had dancers, singers, guitarist, disco and a karaoke. They had really nice entertainment staff always up for a laugh, would get everyone up to dance. They just made the hotel more fun and enjoyable. One final thing, we were a bit disappointed as we didnt get all things virgin told us we would (booked back in nov 2015) they told us we would get: flower display on bed, chocolates, seasonal fruits,1 bottle of sparkling wine in room from when we arrived, as it was our honeymoon, they would make it more special for us. We did get the fruit and the wine but we found out that came with the privilege rooms free anyway. When we first arrived the reception said we had a romantic meal on beach as it was our honeymoon, just to come back and pick what date, except from that lady, it seemed to us the hotel was unaware it was our honeymoon, seemed to be a lack of commutation in the hotel. when we went to reception to book our beach dinner, they didn't have on the system that it was our honeymoon and we were asked to supply our marriage certificate, which luckily we had a copy of with us. After this we did get another bottle of sparking wine in room, more fruit and romantic towel art on bed. We did have a great time, but i think we just went in with higher expectations due to what we had read online and were told when booking. The bedroom we got was also not the same as advertised online, it was the same as the most basic room in the hotel, we were told it would be much nicer than normal rooms, we saw photos of the Superior room when we got home and it is far nicer than what we got. Even the family rooms in the main hotel area were nicer than the one we got in the privileged area. Overall i have given it 4 stars but if it wasn't for the sandy lane restaurant and some of the staff i would have given it 3 stars. The location of the hotel was 5 star. I hope this was helpful.
"A very good 3 star"
Pros : lovely hotel Fantastic staff Rooms are basic but clean. Amazing rainfall shower Cons: limited on breakfast choices Birds scrounging for food from your table whilst you are eating! No bathtub (needed for baby)
Where to start, what a fantastic place, had the best holiday ever, just got back from 2 weeks of sheer and utter bliss. What a serene, place, we were made welcome on day one and were still being treated like VIP,s on our last day. The staff cannot do enough for you. We went on several, trips and I would highly recommend Bradley ... You will find him on the beach, very professional, and had usually caters to what you want. Our guides were very informative, and answered our myriad of questions. The dolphin coast trip exceeded our expectations, what a fantastic experience. Pamplemousses was brilliant, especially the giant tortoises. Raj our guide gave us a wonderful day, driving us around the island. The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable, well looked after. Many thanks to Maya, for her wonderful towel creations. My husband and I would highly recommend this hotel, small and very very friendly, the only downside was not a great variety in entertainment, but what there was was very good. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so special, Dawn And Mike Holwill. Room 1208 .
