Dit deel van Mauritius is in verhouding nog redelijk onderontwikkeld en rustig. De enorme lagune wordt beschermd door koraalriffen, waardoor dit het beste deel van Mauritius is om te zwemmen en snorkelen.

"A mixed bag"
At the main reception there are, like in so many hotels, a series of clocks showing the local time in cities around the world. The clocks at Preskil all differed by the minute within a range of up to ten minutes. This reflected the rest of the hotel: individually the clocks were more-or-less correct (as were so many of the individual facilities), but the overall impression was that it was a shambles behind the scenes. The good: the hotel is unique in that it occupies a little peninsular with fantastic views of the hills. It is a short drive from the airport and the rooms were clean, large and comfortable with beautiful views. The food tasty and plentiful and the staff would make extra meals for the babies. The bar was smart and attractive. The glass bottomed boat ride was lovely. All the staff were friendly. The bad: the reception were appalling. Despite confirming in advance that we would be placed next our family (also with toddler), this came as a surprise to the front desk. The 'computer-says-no' attitude of the staff was frustrating, particularly after a long flight with toddler. When the rooms were sorted, we were given the only rooms in the hotel with an easily lethal drop for toddlers with nothing to prevent them from hurling themselves onto the rocks below. Of note, our elderly parents and childless relative had rooms with gentle slopes to the beach. When asked if possible to change, reception again were unhelpful. Finally, and I confess to my own lack of language skills here, many of the reception staff could not speak English and there was frequently no one available who could. I cannot remember going to any hotel in the world where this was so, particularly not one where the majority of the guests were English speakers, in a country where English is the official language. The water sports team were also gormless and unhelpful. Finally, the prices (if not all-inclusive) were very high. Around £4 for 330ml of local beer from the tap (a mark-up of 6x the local shop price). Lunch was around £20 per course, and half board did not include water even at meal times. This was very off-putting so we tended to avoid eating and drinking in the hotel unless included. In summary, this has a lovely location and good infrastructure, but the management seem absent and this is making the whole experience a bit disappointing. I would not go back to Preskil.
When we booked with our travel agency and saw this resort, We were smitten. Sad to say when we arrived there, the welcome was good. However, we had to wait more than an hour and a half as they were still busy cleaning our room. After having lunch and a long wait we were taken to our room. Well, that's when the problems started. We paid for a Prestige Cottage on the beach and was given a deluxe room facing the lagoon with a huge palm tree blocking our view of the lagoon. We contacted the manager and the reception manager came to see us and when we explained this is not what we wanted. He had the audacity to tell us that it's their decision where they place their clients and the resort is fully booked. He said we had a deluxe room at Solana Beach Resort, therefore he decided on this room for us. You can well imagine how furious we were and contacted the travel agency who confirmed that we booked the Prestige cottage on the beach. We insisted on the Prestige Cottage and was then told by an irate manager that we will only get the cottage the next day as it was "occupied". We couldn't unpack our clothes as we had to move the next day. We literally had to go the reception 4 times the next morning, asking when are we moving to the cottage. Every time we were told that they were cleaning the cottage. When we finally got there we were so surprised as the adjourning cottages were standing empty for days. The view was awesome. Comparing the service we received at Solana Beach Resort and Mauricia Beach Resort, Preskil's service was awful. The staff in the restaurant was unfriendly, for example, when we were seated we had to walk after the waiters for drinks. The food was lovely. The bar service was average. The entertainment was average. Pity when our telephone was not working and it took them 2 days to fix it. That was very annoying as there would be 3 guys walking in and out of the room at random and at one stage I took a nap and had on a short dress and was awakened with these guys walking into the room. That was awkward. A couple days later, people moved into the cottage above us, when they took a shower the water dripped into our toilet below - leaking roof. The bar service on the beach was non-existent even though we had the option of having red/green flags to signal the staff, beach goers were simply ignored and had to fetch our own drinks. The beach is very clean and a snorkeling experience to die for. Senior management should actually address these issues, as this resort is beautiful, but the service is bad and the staff needs an awaking call. At this stage, Sadly, Preskil won't see us soon as there is no excuse for bad service and as I said before, the service at the other 2 Beach resorts where we resided in December 2016 was superb.
Preskil Beach Resort is really an absolutely stunning resort. It's not the newest resort but yet it is still beautiful. The people are very friendly and welcoming. We stay in room 231 and it was perfect for its use. The bathroom is clean and not moldy, the area with the fridge and where you hang your clothes is quite small but not tiny. The bed and dressing table is of perfect size and very comfortable. The rooms are cleaned twice a day and the mini bar is always replaced. The aircon in the room is perfect and you don't need your room key to turn it on so it can run on low while you out. The food is absolutely delicious. Tapas is a small restaurant on the beach but the service is sublime as well as the food and service. They always have a seafood night which is really well worth the money. There are only a few tables so bookings are essential. There is another restaurant called Chakra which is their steakhouse. The food here is also really up to par as well as the service. The meat here is really delicious and it is imported from South Africa from a meat producer known as Karan Beef. The buffet are, Spices, is also really delicious. They have a bit of everything. Salads, pizzas, pastas, fish, red meat, veggies, loads of desserts and soups and so on. Really there is nothing to complain about concerning the food and drinks. The all inclusive meals are delicious as well as the cocktails. Personally i would recommend the all inclusive as it would be quite expensive without it. The all inclusive is really worth every single cent, this even includes tipping but I would recommend tipping your favorite waiters and barmen they will serve you quicker. There is alot of water activites for everyone to enjoy. The catamaran trip is a must!! What an awesome vibe and what great people. The wake boarding is also great but can be a bit choppy if your not used to bumpy water. The weather was perfect for the week we just had. There was minimal wind, about 15 minutes rain in total. Otherwise the weather was absolutely perfect! The ocean or actually the lagoon has the most beautiful colours of blue i have ever seen. The coral life is so well protected and so perfect. The sea sand at the resort beach is not as soft as flour but definitely not sore on the feet. Only walking into the ocean is a bit tricky if you have sensitive feet as there are broken off coral pieces. All in all I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday with fantastic entertainment, a stunning lagoon, very clean swimming pools and the most amazing vibes.
"Excelent value for money but needs to improve in certain areas"
Do not expect to feel the Wow factor when you first see this hotel. The check in is smooth and efficient and were in our room fairly quickly armed with most information that we neede.Again the room was average we were near main building and could hear the entertainment which went on until 11 but it wasn't too intrusive. The rooms are fairly small but kept clean and there is at urn down service in evening.you are provided with bath robe, slippers, shampoo shower gel-there was no bath-you need to bring conditioner, shower caps and vanity sets also provided.you can walk around resort and also out of it.Security guard and dog patrol at night. The beach is nice and you can walk into see in some places and it is quite shallow, however sun loungers are not that comfortable but beach towels are provided.I liked the flag system for attracting beach boys for drinks. The main plus point is the amount of water sports provided free-sailing,windsurfing,kayaks,pedals and bike versions, and water skiing, however they only have one size which is good for fellas but not so good for smaller females.the free glass bottom boat trip and snorkelling which was an hour in total was great-you need to book.you have to pay for hobby cats.there were arranged things to do but no one was pushy!some stuff were friendly, others not so!!our main bug bear was the poor selection when we had booked the all inclusive-wouldn't like to be paying the prices stated and then 15 percent VAT on top!!!we couldn't work out why some dishes were included but others of same price or less weren't!!! The buffet for breakfast was the best but the buffet for lunch was disappointing and the evening one fairly limited.you have to book the 2 a la carte restaurants but wefound the food there vastly superior!the gym was disappointing with poor air conditioning, non functioning water cooler and towels rarely available!!!another negative was the availability of Internet-free but very nitty missy-very frustrating for my 20 plus year old daughter!!!! It is very windy and we had a few heavy showers but they didn't last long.for what we paid it was OK but I would not return for another visit unless they improved the things mentioned to make it a better 4 star hotel.
"Home away from home 💛"
We stayed in Preskil beach resort in 2006. We have been to many other resorts on the island since then and would just like to say that we have yet to meet such a nice crowd. We visited the resort now in January for dinner and a catamaran cruise. The atmosphere is great and we always feel welcomed there. Still my favourite place on the island! 🌴
