Dit deel van Mauritius is in verhouding nog redelijk onderontwikkeld en rustig. De enorme lagune wordt beschermd door koraalriffen, waardoor dit het beste deel van Mauritius is om te zwemmen en snorkelen.
We stayed in a prestige cottage, ocean view. Beautiful location, terrace doors opened and Indian Ocean just yards away. Jean Pierre kept our room clean over the 10 nights and was excellent at all times, extremely polite too. Sunbeds were plentiful there was just 1 day when we couldn't get a sunbed on the beach. Restaurants were great, the main restaurant was themed most nights, choice was excellent and food delicious, best in fact of all hotels we've stayed in and we are well travelled. Steak house was amazing, supplement to pay but well worth it. Breakfast was good the only thing that let it down was the staff, despite manager being around service was very slow, 3 or 4 requests for tea/coffee isn't acceptable for a 4* hotel and this needs improvement. Evening entertainment not too bad, indigo bar is a nice place to relax with a drink. Used the spa for a pedicure, not the best considering the cost and so very hot in there. Overall however a wonderful place, 15 mins from the airport but you'd never know it, picture postcard views, highly recommend it ðŸ‘
"Ignore the bad reviews"
We have just returned from a 10 night stay at Preskill beach on A/I basis. We arrived at the hotel at 6.30 pm and it was dark so we were unable to see much of the surroundings. We were checked in and given a very much needed welcome drink. We were then shown to our room. Now the rooms are the thing that let this hotel down. We had a lagoon room ( upstairs one ) which, having read the reviews and also our tour operators(Kuoni) reports, we were not expecting anything to fabulous, but they are very old fashioned and the furnishings battered and marked. There were bits of plaster missing from the walls and clear marks where the walls were damp and had been patched up. The bathroom was again marked and very old fashioned with Mold in the corners and on the window handle. We had a shower, which was large, but you had to step up into and was very slippy. There was a light that was coming away from the wall and the air conditioning unit was very noisy and old and did not really do what it was meant to do. On the positive side, there was a safe, hairdryer, kettle and minibar ( although only certain things allowed if you on A/I, but you could have them you just needed to pay for some of the things ). The beds were large but a little hard for my liking. Now having said all that we decided that as we were only in the room for a small time it was okay. Now in the day light the thing that made the room for us was the view from it. We had a lagoon view at the back and a beach view from our balcony. Absolutely stunning. One thing about the hotel that we had not read was the amount of birds that are around the hotel and the noise they make. This is not a negative thing they are beautiful and there are nests in the trees as you walk around. The grounds to the hotel is beautiful and spotless, the staff work so hard and are always smiling. The beach is cleaned every morning and is lovely, although the sand and entrance to the sea is a little sharp so I would take beach shoes to wear in the sea. The sea is crystal clear and lovely for snorkelling. The beach is not a private beach( don't let this worry you as it may as well be, think a lot of the beaches in Mauitus like this )so you do get a few beach hawkers but a polite no thank you and they are on thier way. There is security all around the hotel and it is very safe. Just don't leave valuables around. There are two pools but we didn't use them, so cannot comment on them the thing We did find with these were that they were very close to the restaurants and bar so not much privacy. The restaurants are all lovely but we found that we could not book into either of the al a carte restaurants until the Friday, and we had arrived on the Tuesday, so book in the restaurants as soon as you arrive ( you can always cancel booking). You have to book at the restaurants, not reception. We weren't sure why you had to book as most nights when we went there were empty tables. Food at all the restaurants was lovely and the A/I choices are marked with a star on the menus. Long trousers are required for men in the evening for all restaurants as there is a dress code. We were not made aware of this at check in but were told by one of the restaurant managers on our way to eat on our first night. The indigo bar staff were lovely as were the beach boys during the day. You have to sign and give your room number ( except breakfast) after everything you order and eat. This is to establish between A/I, HB etc Everyone has to do it. Christoph in the spices restaurant is amazing. He never stopped smiling and could not do enough for you. There are so many free water sports, paddle boarding, kayaks, peddles, water skiing, free glass bottom boat trips and the staff at the water sport place were great. Long review I know but overall a lovely hotel just let down by the rooms hence only 4 star review.
"An amazing trip"
As with many other reviewers, before arriving at the resort we were worried that we had booked a holiday in a less than desirable hotel. We couldn't have been more wrong. From the first greeting on arrival by the friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable Linda we were checked in and guided through the hotel to a beautiful room overlooking the lagoon. Once freshened up we went to explore the amenities and again were not disappointed. We had purchased the All Inclusive (AI) package and it was very clear which items were or were not part of the deal and after many European AI breaks, we found there to be a very good selection. Melissa who made drinks for us at the Indigo bar made us feel especially welcome and her friendliness remained present throughout our 10 day break. Dinner in the Spices restaurant was varied and food quality was good, again, we were especially impressed by the service given by Kevin who always had a smile and time to make us feel appreciated. We also made use of our AI by eating in the Steakhouse and at the Tapas Beach restaurant which were well worth deviating from Spices for. Finally, a mention for Sunshine who works on the beach who made our holiday that extra bit special with her warm nature and generous spirit. Please look her up and say hello from the "nice English men" for us. Altogether an amazing holiday in which 10 days seemed to evaporate far too swiftly.
"Lovely stay at Preskil!"
We recently returned to this hotel after approx 15 years!! The setting is exquisite with the most fantastic views of the lagoon and mountains. The rooms and hotel are tired- still the same furniture etc , but we luckily booked the sea view cottage which opened straight up onto the beach which was a plus so this made up for it. The breakfast is average and nothing like the The Ravenala that we stayed at the week before. Dinners at the main restaurant Spices are also nothing to write home about, but you can book at the other 2 restaurants being the steakhouse- which was extremely good- and the Tapas Beach Bar which was fantastic! The Indigo bar serves some great cocktails and light meals too! All in all this is a good resort which offers value for money! Andrew, Melanie and Tyra
"LOVELY RESORT BUT SORT YOUR DRESS CODE OUT!!!!"
Like the person prior to me i was anxious about the negative comments, but our room was beautiful opening our door to the lagoon, and balcony to the sea and lion mountain, the room was kept beautiful with flower heads decorated daily on our bed., all housekeeping staff lovely (if only the restaurant staff were). the resort was as the previous person said, perfection, I have only one gripe about this hotel and that was the restaurants dress code, on my first arrival to the spices restaurant, I was told by the manager,"we have a dress code here" you must have trousers, polo shirt or collared shirt for the restaurant, and told me he will let me in this time, and said i should go and buy some trousers, I said I have paid £2,500 for this holiday, and will not be told what to wear in the restaurant, as know wear on there website does it say about a dress code!!!!!! he laughed at me, and i asked to see the manager, who eventually apologised, but food the next 4 days i was questioned repeatedly about my dress/atire, i wore smat shorts and expensive collared shirts, while many/all people wearing t-shirts were not approached, i then spoke with another manager who apologised and said this would not happen again. I do not mind if it states a dress code, but nothing on there site, several people had the same issues as I. so bring trousers. the staff in the restaurant, are as many said, rude, asked repeatedly for coffee, and wandered off chatting, the staff in this restaurant need to clean the rooms, and the lovely housekeeping team work in the restaurant, the food overall in the restaurant is good, and exerllent breakfast, just utterly let down by waiters/waitresses who were disinterested in giving good service. while I had issues with the restaurant, overall the hotels position, beach and trips offered, esp to isle de cerf (amazing) on preskils catamaran, well worth the 2,400 rupees each trip. just sort the restaurant out and the dress code and this would off been perfection.
