"Incredible place to stay"
After being disappointed with the first two places we stayed on our Namibia trip it was great to find somewhere which exceeded our expectations. We stayed in Eagles View which was the furthest out of the chalets all of which were beautifully assimilated into their surroundings and with fantastic views. It was so peaceful we really felt to be at one with nature, sitting on the veranda looking into the distance was a really relaxing experience. We didn't take the option of the braille but chose to drive to the Desert Horse Inn for our meals and I'm pleased we did as it was a lovely place to eat with great food, a decent selection of wine and excellent staff who we couldn't praise enough. A special mention must go to the manageress who couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Definitely a place to stay if you pay a visit to this area.
"A Secret I hesitate to share!"
OMG if you can GET here, it is a once in a lifetime experience/stay. We actually stayed in the larger accommodation that sleeps 6, and they have hiking trails all around to explore the area. Heart-stopping beautiful. Braii inside, with a fridge as I remember, and hot water showers. The main lodge is only 15 min away, if you can't stand the beauty and isolation any longer. : )
This was the most like a Caribbean resort and the one of only 2 places we visited, where the pool was easy to get in and out of. Well run and busy. We were welcomed and told how to find our room – which was 7 kms away under the mountain behind the lodge. There is an excellent camp site too on the way to the rooms built into the mountain. The rooms were really self-contained chalets with a cooker, fridge and all the necessary equipment to be self catering. We were not told on arrival that we could have a Brae (BBQ) to cook ourselves so on the first night we ate in the Lodge. The food was self service and the choice was good but not really outstanding. The Brae we had the second night on the other hand was outstanding. Baboons are all over the mountain and very amusing until you leave your shoes out overnight and they take them! We were warned not to leave food out – but shoes? A really lovely wild spot and throughly recommended.
"Beautiful rustic chalets"
Amazing chalets with beautiful view and mountain atmosphere. Delicious breakfast too! Free wifi at reception. Has everything for a self catering experience. From the chalets we saw oryx, springbok and klipspringers. There are hiking trails starting from the chalets! Nothing to complain about it!
"Unique location, well integrated with its scenery..."
The chalets were somewhat basic in comfort, but so well integrated in their local setting that it feels natural and well balanced. Unfortunately the free wifi at the Desert Horse Inn did not work most of the time (which seems to be common at a majority of Namibian lodges) PS: do make sure to not leave any food out at night, as the local mouse will have a party on it! Ours even nibbled at the labels of our water bottles...
