"Starting to show wear"
excellent small hotel/guest house. Great staff. Especially good breakfasts and other meals. We have now stayed in this hotel 4 separate times. This trip was 4 nights. We think the place is looking a little tired and needs upgrade work. Our room especially could use a serious redo such as updated paint as well as some kind of wall art. Nice new curtains would also make a big difference. I still highly recommend this location and will stay again on future trips.
"A very pleasant introduction to Namibia"
After an 11 hour flight from UK to Jo'burg followed by a delayed flight to Windhoek we were exhausted. The warm welcome that we were greeted with at the Olive Grove made all that disappear. It was our first visit to Namibia and we found the customer service was generally very good. Our room was very comfortable with excellent bedding and a shower that did what it should - all too often it's either a trickle or the temperature varies enormously. We were able to eat in, you have to reserve a table before 5p.m. and we were just in time. Dinner and breakfast were both very good. Staff were all very friendly. The room was quiet except for a dog continually barking in the early evening. We were only there for one night but from what I saw it would be a very good base if you wanted to spend a few days in Windhoek.
"Good last night in Namibia"
Last night' of a holiday are often a sombre reflection not at the Olive grove, from the moment you check in you may think its the first night. Bright and happy are all the staff and nothing is a problem. Rooms are bright, airy clean well laid out. Food lunch, dinner And breakfast were freshly made in an open kitchen and were extremely well cooked and tastey. Thank you for all
"Good bed, shower and food"
As the last stop of our two months trip in Africa, I really appreciated the powerful shower and crisp bedding in our room. It is located in a peaceful corner of Windhoek. The deco is simple and cool. We had our dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It is a small menu but food quality adequate. It was struggling with staff in the morning at breakfast time. One waiter took our order and after having waited for long time, two other waitresses came to take our order again before we were served.
"Begin and/or end your journey through Namibia here"
After traveling through Namibia for nearly two weeks, we spent our last night in Windhoek at Olive Grove Guest House. The proximity of the B&B to the center of the city allowed us to walk (which we much prefer to taking taxis) to the gardens, various landmarks, and the Namibia Craft Centre. Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a well-stocked coffee/tea station and a full array of toiletries. One lovely extra touch was a small decanter of port and chocolates we found in our room upon our return from dinner. Staff made every effort to help us confirm transfer and flight times for the following day's departure, and even phoned Johannesburg for us so I could share that information with the family members we would be visiting there. Our only issue with Olive Grove was with our dining experience there. Staff worked very hard to prepare and serve meals, but there was a long delay and then our meat was overcooked (in spite of being ordered "medium rare"). There may have been too many guests dining at the same time that night or insufficient staff. Still, we enjoyed the setting and were happy to have the option to dine right there rather than heading back into town, given our need to get a night's rest before a very early departure the next morning. We very much appreciated staff delivering a breakfast tray to our room the next morning, in spite of the very early hour we needed to leave (5:00 am). Someone was there to help with our luggage and ensure we were safely off to the airport. We'd recommend Olive Grove Guest House to others without reservation, as a great place to stay in Windhoek.
