"Fantastic stay "

This hotel is amazing. By far the best stay we've had. The staff are incredible and the food is also of a high standard. The beach here is also beautiful. The rooms are also spacious and of a very good standard & a variety of activities taking place. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Zanzibar

"The most amazing stay!"

Where to begin? Ocean Paradise Resort is the perfect place for a quiet and relaxing holiday in Zanzibar. The hotel grounds are perfectly maintained and the beach front is simply splendid. But what makes OPR truly wonderful is without a doubts it's staff: everyone is so kind and helpful and has made our stay beyond great! The food was amazing, diverse and the sea food platter is a must have. One of our best holidays yet! Thank you to everyone at Ocean Paradise again, we will be back and can't recommend it enough to all visiting Zanzibar!

"Amazing place to visit"

We stayed at this resort for two weeks in November it was very clean, comfortable and the staff very friendly. The hotel rooms very big with a lovely balcony to sit and admire the view, rooms cleaned daily and someone turns your bed down at night and puts mosquito net around bed. Food is excellent with a different theme night every night and local bands and artists play music and perform while you eat. Beach is beautiful very clean and crystal clear water, only down side when you leave hotel to walk or swim on the beach you get bombarded by the masai mara warriors trying to sell you things and take you for trips out to the reef, if you firmly say no they leave you alone. Plenty of tours to do round the island so this is a ideal location to stay. Only thing I was not happy with at night when you walk down to the restaurant for dinner the pathways and steps are not very well lit so go careful walking round at night watch your footing. Overall a very pleasant place to stay and would love to come back to visit again one day

"very good hotel overall! shame about the pestering on the beach"

this hotel is truly magical - room was good, mosquito net , separate bathroom and balcony and good size etc. bed firm and bit hard for me but then everyone is different in what they like. I stayed here after safari in Tanzania. went for all inclusive. I'm not massivey keen on all the sugary cocktails so didn't bother me not included, but still cheap enough if you want to have it. pool area and loungers and towels all good. only thing I bitterly regret is booking excursion with hotel to stone town and prison island. I found stone town to be a WASTE OF TIME and very run down - they not interested in upkeep etc of this and prison island was ok, but just to see tortoises . I wish I hadn't gone and wasted my money .the tour guide was awful . at the hotel though ALL staff were brilliant. breakfast was ok , lots of choice etc but lunch and dinner very good. entertainment of diff live bands each eve very good. some were better than others but still enjoyed. those who have problems with steps may struggle but all good. the only thing I didn't like was pestering by people on beach - but this outside hotel control. they tell you " politely decline and say no thankyou" but after telling this to about ten MEN I literally wanted to tell some who didn't listen to " f&*K off!" I know they trying to make a living but they pester and hassle you and I did feel uncomfortable as a woman. the beach would be better if they were not standing on beach staring at you even when you lying on a lounger in hotel even though there are two guards, for me they do kind of ruin it a bit .they stand and stare at you. there lots of seaweed on beach so I found it a real shame I couldn't go on beach more. staff at hotel brilliant and smiling and work so hard and I think they deserve to be tipped. I must say the way I heard some south Africans treat staff was disgusting - they work so hard and no matter even if they make a mistake don't derserve that treatment big mention to GEORGE from goa who was a chef and PRAMOD who is food and beverage manager always looking out for us and so friendly and to DAVID who was always so smiling and happy.i would recommend this hotel . only thing I would not recommend it trip to stone town - waste of money and my time for relaxing which is precious

"Wonderful hotel!"

We have just returned from Zanzibar and a stay at this hotel which was wonderful. The room was very large and the bathroom is very well designed. The room was clean and our maid arranged the mosquito nets and towels decoratively on the bed when the room was made up each day. The beach was fantastic with plenty of beds and a large area of beach was within the hotel grounds. We didn't venture to the sea and beach much as the vendors were usually waiting for you. There were also beds around the pool and a pool bar. We chose to upgrade to all inclusive and it was so easy and great not to have to worry about paying for drinks or lunch. The food was fantastic and catered for all tastes and the staff were very good and very helpful. There are a lot of steps but that is stated in the hotel details and we looked upon it as good exercise as most of the time we were sat down on the beach or in the bar! The only thing that was a problem was, our tour guy said we could ask for late check out until 2pm, as we were not due to leave until 4pm and check out is 12. When the duty manager was asked he was very apologetic but said they had been instructed by the hotel manager to charge 50% daily room rate for late check out. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot praise the staff highly enough.
