"Fantastic Hotel & Beach"

Firstly I would recommend that you book a Superior Garden Room, on the ground level in the garden, as there are a lot of steps to many of the cheaper rooms at the rear of the gardens. There is no difference between the rooms, its just the steps really, but if you are a fit young person, it wont worry you to much to climb the stairs. but we found it hard going with no hand rails. This Hotel is really great, and the rooms are more than comfortable, with thatched roofs. The food is superb, with various theme nights for the dishes cooked, which was buffet for breakfast and Dinner, with lunch being served by waiters. We went all inclusive and were very happy with the food, wine, beers & brandy. The evening entertainment was very good as well with various groups playing and singing in the background. The beach went on for miles and it was that lovely powder white sand, the sea was always very warm and seemed safe to swim in, with a reef about a 1/3 of a mile out. The staff were all great and cheerful, the GM was very hands on, always walking round the grounds, looking for little things to put right, to keep the hotel in tip top condition. The Reception staff were very good, as were Elzilea and Happiness in Guest Relations who helped us out on a number of occasions. Stella and Elizabeth were also very good in the restaurants looking after us very well. We also had drinks & Food brought to us on the beach front, and Peter the waiter was great at looking after us. We hired a car for a couple of days and went round the Island and saw some incredible beaches and colourful blue sea. The cost was £45-00 per day including insurances, and was booked for us by the hotel in Guest Relations, you will need your Drivers License, I was told on websites that you would need an International Drivers License, but this is not the case. Petrol was about a Dollar a litre. To sum up this is a really great hotel, a cut above the rest we saw, and was very well run with excellent staff, rooms, beach & food. I would highly recommend this hotel

"Honeymoon paradise"

We stayed at Ocean paradise as part of our honeymoon trip and had an amazing time. The staff could not do enough for us and the food was great! The week was a great chill out week by the pool coupled with a trip out to Stonetown to see the coast and spice markets etc. The rock resturant is a must see! Happyness was extremely helpful and looked after the honeymooners. Thank you for a great stay!

"Beautiful Resort with friendly staff"

I stayed for a week in one of the Superior Garden Rooms. I was delighted with the room, staff, food and entertainment offered. I arrived at 2am and the check in process was easy. I did email the hotel beforehand to say that I would be checking in late. This was not a problem and they offered an airport shuttle to the hotel for $60. I did a price comparison with other shuttles and it was competitive. The driver was standing waiting for me at the airport my a sign with my name on it. My room / house was on the edge of the resort and only a short walk to the pool, restaurant and beach. There was an unpleasant smell along the path but only in one small area and was not near any buildings. The gardens are well kept and watered. It really was walking round a paradise. I opted for all inclusive as I wanted to keep to a budget while I was in Zanzibar. You have to sign for everything even when all inclusive. This did make me worry during the week incase I ended up with a big bill when I checked out. When I checked out the bill was in order to my relief. I would suggest a wrist band system like the neighbouring resort to make things a little easier. The week I was there, the resort was not too busy until the weekend when several families arrived. This was not a big issue as it was great to see the children playing by the pool enjoying themselves. I did snorkelling on my last day organised through the dive centre offices at the resort. It was a great trip. I would recommend that on the boat keep a close eye on your belongings. At one stage the boat accelerated and my sunglasses fell on the bottom. A staff member picked them up and put them away behind some equipment. They were pretty expensive glasses and another customer had told me where they were. Perhaps he was going to ask on our return so I can not assume that they weren't being returned to me. This didn't spoil my enjoyment of the day out though. I'd recommend Ocean Paradise if you want a relaxing and friendly place. It's around an hours drive from the airport.

This hotel is absolutely lovely. The rooms that are thatched round houses are very spacious and kept immaculately clean. The staff in all areas are so polite and helpful and always very cheerful. Food was fantastic as was the service. We couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

"Ten days in paradise"

The hotel is on the north east coast but only takes just over an hour from the airport - let's just skate over the arrivals hall apart from to say 'basic' ! Ocean Paradise is approached via an avenue of colourful trees and plants which sets the tone. Security is efficient but generally unobtrusive once through the large locked gates. We were met and checked in very quickly and taken to our rooms. The rooms are either single level bungalow type or as mine, ground and first floor thatched accommodation. It is difficult to describe how attractive the rooms are - en suite, arm chairs, balcony with comfy chairs. I could write a small book on the attractions of this hotel, the staff are superb, the food plentiful, there are things like water robics each day, alcohol is a little on the expensive side but it is all over the island which is predominantly Muslim. Don't worry about that, the locals have a Christian population and all seem to live in harmony. My only gripe is the Internet/wifi - don't bother paying $10 per week to have it any where in the hotel; there are free wifi hot spots which worked better - but I did get a reduction off my bill. Go and have a jolly good holiday with lovely people, in the sun (don't forget min factor 30 lotion) and come back as I have with wonderful memories
