"Super value"

   20-02-2017
We stayed at the Avanis sister hotel the Royal Livingstone but a short golf cart ride away and we were here. Loved coming here for a quick bite to eat while listening to great local music. The food was great for breakfast lunch and dinner. The grounds are immaculate with zebra roaming as common as sqirrels in the US. The staff is fantastic. Be sure to ask for Memory as your waitress at the poolside bar for great service, a good talk and a smile to make you return.

"delightful setting"

   16-02-2017
checkin was painfully slow - no prior preparation for our group (compared to our next stop in Botswana - all checkin papers pre-prepared.) We all submitted a card to cover incidentals, but then the next day the barman said there was no record of us having done so. Apart from that, very good, nice place, well kept, friendly staff, good food. We avoided wine (Govt tax I think) but beer and spirirts were priced OK)

"Great location needs better management"

   15-02-2017
This hotel is on the same property with the Livingstone Hotel, it's more upscale sister. Still, this is an expensive hotel with extensive grounds, very nice rooms and the occasional zebra on the lawn! There appears to be a lot of staff - zooming by on little carts, riding Segways, and yet the lawns are covered in dead leaves, branches and zebra poop. Plates from room service meals (required if you don't want to dress "smart casual" for dinner) are left sitting in the hall overnight, the servers are very casual about what time the restaurant opens for breakfast. There are a few boutique shops at this hotel with cute, overpriced things. Victoria Falls is walking distance away and this side of the falls is free, as opposed to $30 pp on the Zimbabwe side.

"Location, Location, Location"

   12-02-2017
As most other reviews have mentioned, this is THE closest hotel to the Falls. We could walk from our room to the Falls in about 4 minutes. The food was good and the staff was helpful in setting up day trips and booking excursions. Room was well maintained and cleaned every day. The WiFi was a bit spotty, but I liked that as it made it easier to not respond to work e-mail! You are also very close to the Zimbabwe border so a short ride/walk is an option to the views from that side. If I was making a return trip to the Falls or making a recommendation to a friend, I would definitely send them here. The convenience is too much to pass up! Not mention the animals that roam the grounds (i.e. zebra, monkey, impala...). Last Note: Make sure to check the A/C unit when you check-in, they need to enable the unit to allow it to work properly.

"Location trumps other shortcomings"

   09-02-2017
I've visited the Royal Livingstone many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since we were traveling over Christmas period, and we spent most of the day sightseeing - I could not justify paying the price. So we decided to stay next door. It's got fantastic location, mixed feelings about other aspects of the hotel but the location wins out. Vs. the Royal Livingstone it feels very mass market, and perhaps overall ambience not up to the price. But we compensated by spending more time at the Royal Livingstone. Avani is next to Vic Falls national park. We went twice from the hotel, in the morning and in the afternoon to get a different feel. Well maintained grounds Another plus is that it's connected to the Royal Livingstone - so we actually had sundowners and then dinner at the Royal Livingstone, much nicer environment. 10 minutes walk / or a quick shuttle Staff were welcoming for a big resort - also baked a cake for my mom's birthday which was a very thoughtful touch. Rooms - decorated w arabesque features. A bit tight for two beds, but overall just fine. Pool - large pool, which we really wanted to go into, but full of kids. Also upon closer inspection, very very dirty! Loud music - tacky loud music, unbearable. Had to call at 10, 11pm at night to front desk to repeatedly request to lower the volume. Could not sleep because of the music.
