121 Species seen in 3 days thanks to the wonderful ranger Jabulani who has the patience of Job! He is a considerate and knowledgeable guide, stopping at just the right spot and not moving off until everyone has had their fill. Although we were mainly interested in birds we saw plenty of game including wonderful sightings of cheetah, lions, rhino, buffalo and lots of elephant. Unfortunately the leopards were all hiding but other guests had seen them the night before we arrived. The rooms and public areas are all furnished beautifully and the beds are very comfortable. We loved the gorgeous hot shower on our return from the morning drive after a really slap up breakfast. The lodge staff and barman were attentive and pleasant. We seemed to eat all day long and our scale literally groaned when we returned home. Really nice snacks on the morning and evening game drives and 3 well prepared meals complimented by a lovely wine list. I feel a need to correct an impression a previous review gave about the lunch menu. It is true that the lunch menu is the same every day but there are three pages from which to make your choice and unless you spend more than a fortnight at the lodge you won't have to have the same meal twice. Well done guys - We will be back in the summer!

"Excellent stay at Mkuze Falls Game"

Beautiful lodge with spectacular view on the falls. Top service, fantastic staff. Very friendly and helpful. Game drives are excellent. The guides/drivers are very good and the reserve is spectacular. If you are planning to stay in the region this is the place to be. You will not be disappointed.

"Not value for money"

From the time we arrived till the time we left we had no manager meet us or welcome us Although the rest of the team were polite and friendly and did try to accommodate us, you could see that there was no one in charge The rooms were adequate but not worth the 5 star rating more like a 3 star I felt if they marketed the resort as a 3 star I would not have felt done in The game viewing was very sparse and you will battle to see the big 5 more like the big 4 and then very little of them as well Food was very disappointing as the same lunch was served everyday no variety The one evening that we had a braai / barbecue we were rationed with the food and the variety for a 5 star was very poor The setting is lovely and they could do so much more with what they have Even the still and sparkling water was charged at a ridiculous premium

"Beautiful lodge, wonderful birds"

My family visited Mkuze falls for a long weekend to celebrate my son's 21st birthday and we were not disappointed. This is a lovely game lodge. The reserve itself is really beautiful with varied terrain and vegetation. It is also small, with only 8 chalets and 2 game vehicles. The accommodation is wonderfully romantic. Thatched roofs, beautiful reed and rope walls, huge canopied beds, and beautiful views from the balconies. The chalets are close together but very private as each is surrounded by vegetation. We also really appreciated the service. The lodge seemed to be run by the staff over the weekend, with no obvious supervision, and the service was wonderful. It is hard to describe the warm, generous atmosphere generated by the lodge staff. The food was fantastic: generous, delicious and beautifully presented. This is also the only game lodge we have stayed at so far which serves lunch in addition to breakfast and a generous high tea before the afternoon game drive. The game drives were also superb. What the website fails to mention is that the two rangers have been there for 12 and 15 years respectively and are incredibly knowledgable. We asked for a ranger who knows his birds and got Jabu who was remarkable. He has been birding since he was a teenager, and recognises even the most obscure LBJs from their flight pattern and call. As a result my husband and son, both very keen ornithologists, both saw over 100 birds over the weekend. In addition we saw the big five and two beautiful cheetahs. A special treat on the morning game drives, which we have never had at other reserves, was a hot water bottle to ward off the morning chill. Of course, it isn't perfect: nothing in life is. We had a couple of maintenance problems, but these were attended to as soon as we mentioned them. In short this lodge is very hard to beat. I am surprised by some of the negative reviews on trip advisor because this was certainly not our experience. We loved our weekend.

"Wow!! Absolutely amazing experience "

Best game reserve experience, the only animal we didn't see was leopards sadly.... Lodge rooms were stunning with great views of the falls and outdoor shower. Food was local and lovely, whilst the staff could not be more helpful. The treks around the reserve were top class with great guides (Jabulani) knowledge was amazing. Was great with our kids and would go back again in a heart beat. Thank you
