"Unique facility within beautiful rainforest."
We stayed for 2 nights in a cabin. We arrived in darkness and during a rain storm and were warmly received by the host. The cabin was pleasantly furnished with a nice large bed and a single had been added for our son. The bathroom was modern and everything worked as expected. The whole facility is set within the Daintree Rainforest and it encroaches all around the cabin. The sounds of birds and cicadas were a constant. We ate in the restaurant and the food was fine though I might not choose to eat kangaroo meat again - bit tough. This is a quirky, unique place set in a hot humid environment. Lizards invaded our bathroom and huge insects are all around. Don't go there looking for luxury, but embrace the special experience and the wildlife. As a guest you are made to feel welcome and part of the "family". The staff are helpful and enthusiastic and we were given lots of tips as to where to find the elusive Cassowary. We didn't spot one but we sure tried hard!
"A unique place"
A really magical place full of tropical rainforest sights, sounds, and smells. Dinner under the lights looking into the jungle was something really special. We went to swim in the creek. It wasn't raining for a while, so the swim was more like a dip, but nice and refreshing.
"Escaping civilisation into beauty"
We stayed for two nights in December and had a memorable family time, no phones, no wifi, just spending time together.. We explored both water holes on the property, missed seeing a cassoawary but spotted its poo! Vicky was an amazing host and there wasn’t anything more we could have asked for. The cabins are simple, but clean and well equipped with a small fridge, kettle, amenities and even a small TV. No channel reception, but it was an amazing opportunity to watch some classic movies as a family, which you can borrow for free. We watched ET with our son for the first time. The restaurant location is beautiful, overlooking a clear blue waterhole. We had dinner one night and breakfast both mornings. Delicious! This is a holiday we will never forget. Such a beautiful location, close to walks, the Daintree Ice creamery, other restaurants and activities. Highly recommend the Heritage Lodge.
We stayed at heritage lodge for 3 nights - it was a great location and the creek was amazing to swim in! We had dinner there the first nice and liked the cannelloni the most. We felt it was a little too expensive, but understood since it is a rural location. 'The Station' is where you can cook your own food, but this seemed really run down and looked like no-one had used the BBQ in years! We did the creek walk up to Josephine Falls - a lovely walk, but be warned, it is hard on the feet (heaps of rocks) so wear study sandals you don't mind getting very wet. The staff were all super friendly and were willing to call up several sea kayaking places for us to book in to. The nature and environment there is also very beautiful
"A unique and memorable stay"
We stayed here for 3 nights in mid November while exploring the magical Daintree rainforest. We were given a warm welcome by the friendly and helpful receptionist/waitress when we arrived at nightfall and found our cabin was comfortable and characterful. Air conditioning was great (and much needed!) - it was really nice to have non-central AC, and there was a fan to boot. The bed was large and comfortable, the room had high ceilings and plenty of space. Falling asleep - and waking up - to the sounds of the jungle was wonderful: you really are right in the middle of it here. We had one breakfast and two dinners during our stay. The dinner in particular was really made with care by an obviously well-trained chef, and it's a really nice menu and drinks selection. Looking out onto the rainforest as you dine is pretty special. One of our favourite things was taking a dip in the hotel's own creek: such a beautiful way to cool down. The staff were all really helpful and friendly, and Anthony the main receptionist gave us some really good tips to help us explore the area. We couldn't have asked for anything more really! We'll always remember our visit to the Daintree and Heritage Lodge.
