"Beautiful scenery and kind staff"
Only got to stay for one night at this amazing hotel in the lush rainforest! Everything was seemless, from check-in, to dinner (nice variety of delicious entrees), swimming in the pool after the sun went down, etc. my children (17,13,7) enjoyed everything about their stay- swimming in both the pool and the lagoon! Beds were comfortable and room was clean! My little guy even accidentally left his stuffed animal and the staff were gracious enough to locate it and offered to mail it back to us! â¤ï¸
"Seen better days"
Nice welcome, including umbrella and flashlight. Handy room parking. Lodges a bit gloomy in lighting terms and could’ve been a little cleaner eg sweeping the floor. Local tea in the beverages box was a nice touch . Breakfasts a bit spartan coffee lukewarm and over brewed, fresh juice would’ve been good and in keeping. Nice bread, although supplies run out after about 8.30. We ate twice in the restaurant: extraordinary food portions, with bizarre combinations of flavours. 1 main easily sufficient for two people eg swordfish came with 2 steaks, smoked salmon , avocado and heaps of veg. The main bonus of this lodge is the cooper creek which runs right past it and gives access to 2 safe swimming holes.
The lodge cabins - hidden in the lush rainforest - are rustic and charming. Ours was cabin no. 5, and as soon as you've said farewell to plastic civilisation you will find that it has all you need for a good night's sleep (a queen bed and A/C) and for a proper wash. We had a friendly welcome at reception and were given a bag with key, torch and an umbrella (not just a nice gesture but really useful). The open air restaurant (On the Turps) overlooking the creek looked inviting and - although we suffered a bit from the mosquitos - we had a really tasty dinner (barramundi and kangaroo) prepared by a young Swedish "chef" and served by a young Swedish girl, a couple that was here on Work and Travel. We awoke early to the sound of birds and insects and had a self-serve breakfast with croissants, toast, muesli and fruit. The Lodge is a good base for excursions along the creek, to the beach boardwalks, to the canopy tower and walkway and up north to the end of Cape Tribulation Road (you'll need a 4WD to continue on Bloomfield Track). And you are bound to see birds, lizards and possums... Upon return to the Lodge we had a Daintree tea in the restaurant and a chat with some other guests. And after another nice à la carte dinner we fell asleep quickly. It had started to rain quite heavily in the night and the rain still continued when we left. Although this is obviously quite normal in a rainforest we sure were glad that we had enjoyed a lovely sunny day at Daintree.
"Unique facility within beautiful rainforest."
We stayed for 2 nights in a cabin. We arrived in darkness and during a rain storm and were warmly received by the host. The cabin was pleasantly furnished with a nice large bed and a single had been added for our son. The bathroom was modern and everything worked as expected. The whole facility is set within the Daintree Rainforest and it encroaches all around the cabin. The sounds of birds and cicadas were a constant. We ate in the restaurant and the food was fine though I might not choose to eat kangaroo meat again - bit tough. This is a quirky, unique place set in a hot humid environment. Lizards invaded our bathroom and huge insects are all around. Don't go there looking for luxury, but embrace the special experience and the wildlife. As a guest you are made to feel welcome and part of the "family". The staff are helpful and enthusiastic and we were given lots of tips as to where to find the elusive Cassowary. We didn't spot one but we sure tried hard!
"A unique place"
A really magical place full of tropical rainforest sights, sounds, and smells. Dinner under the lights looking into the jungle was something really special. We went to swim in the creek. It wasn't raining for a while, so the swim was more like a dip, but nice and refreshing.
