The hotel has been refurbished in Greg Natale's plush and striking signature style. It's nicely designed and the views are lovely. The buffet breakfast had lots of yummy options and gorgeous smelling flowers on the tables. Downsides: they seem to have a bit of an aversion to air conditioning, the bathrooms could be smartened up a bit, and a mini bar would be nice. Overall a lovely stay for a romantic getaway.
"Lovely place for a wedding"
Good standard of accommodation if bathroom a little small. Excellent and comfortable beds in particular. Very high levels of organisation, competence and service from staff. Excellent food. Good and well managed facilities for the wedding we attended. Very scenic aspects from some of the wings with good verandah access to all rooms. Single level complex and therefore no elevators. Lovely indoor pool complex in particular. Handy to all vineyards with well connected transport links.
Not our first stay, but first since a recent, comprehensive renovation. This hotel is easily in the top three places available in the Hunter, and is in a very good position from which your winery visit can commence. The main restaurant is more than adequate, without being too flashy, with a good range of options, and, of course, wines (albeit, they should stick to just locals, as much as possible). The location is not exactly in the main Hunter wine area, but easily close enough to it (Broke Road is only about a 10 minutes drive), and also not far to my favourite, high-cuisine restaurants - Muse or Muse Kitchen, Esca (at Bimbadgen) and Robert Molines. Very good value for your dollar, and near some of the best Semillon and Shiraz in Australia. If you are quick, there is still a drop or two of the fabulous 2014 Vintage, rated, by some, as the best Vintage ever (try Calais).
Room only $ 745.00 for 2 nights without breakfast and the below listed items. 2 star service from apparently poorly trained staff, 2 star meals at 5 star prices, squeaky floor boars, 3 coffee capsules for 2 people, no toilet brush, noisy fridge, mini bar menu, but no mini bar, 1 soap bar for 2 people, 60 m luggage haul from car park to room. All this and some more, which I'm too disappointed to mention. HOWEVER, the GARDENS are well kept and cared for.
"Serene & beautiful surroundings"
From the minute you enter the drive you feel instantly relaxed, and the decor of the reception bar and restaurant are simply stunning - when combined with the beautiful rose gardens and breathtaking views it makes you not wish to leave. The rooms also are lovely, the only disappointment was the bathroom - clearly missed in the renovation and with everything else so lovely it really sticks out as a miss - from the dated terracotta marble to the old damaged fittings and the mould on the tiles - its what prevents this hotel from hitting a 5..
