"Wonderful Hotel "
We have stayed here a couple of times. Our first visit was through a scoopon deal offering a night for only $149 including buffet Breakfast! This was too good to refuse and we promptly booked 4 rooms and took a family vacay. The staff were super helpful in booking wine tours and offered insight into the sites and things to do in the area. We were lucky enough to be on the same floor on a shared balcony. We have since been back and cannot fault the value for money and friendliness of the staff. We are looking forward to visiting again soon!
"Clean and Friendly"
We stayed at the Sebel recently. It is a nice location, quiet and reserved. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Food choices are limited with the bar menu being the best choice. The set menu in the restaurant is a little over priced, especially if you may only want a main. There is an indoor pool which would be great in the winter time. All in all a comfortable place to stay, but not in the same category as the Crowne Plaza.
"A beauiful Hotel"
I have been here before and the new renovations are beautiful. One of the best hotel renovations I’ve seen. This is a very romantic hotel with its beautiful room and the restaurant is stunning. I enjoyed my stay very much. I found there is only one drawback is the restaurant menu. It is very heavy and for what they offer very expensive. Like for a main meal I just had the mushroom risotto about a cup in total and it cost me $45.00 total cost to make such a dish would be around $10 and the most its cost me in some of the best restaurants in Sydney was $27.00 The second night I ordered crispy skin fish which was paper thin and no crispy skin it was $45.00. All main meals are $45.00 no matter what you order. So don’t go there thinking you can order a nice chicken salad in summer when the temp is around 27-32 deg. Is this place for kids , I don’t think so it would spoil the vibe of the place this is a couple romantic stay away, But saying that they do cater for kids in school holidays . The heated pool was cold which was a disappointment and the first step into the pool is a long way down I found it very difficult to get in .
"Nice hotel and good room size"
Excellent check in, nice location and we had a room in The Manor House, room size and décor were excellent although the air conditioner was a little noisy and sleep was disrupted by this noise. Tried the bar and ordered some items from the bar menu, all was well until the apple pie which seemed almost devoid of apple!, Nice selection of wines and reasonably priced but $11 for a James Squire Amber Ale seemed way too expensive, I understand margins but this makes James squire $264 a case some five times the price of a case from any bottle shop! The Sebel gives and delivers the promise of a class establishment and despite my “niggles†we would stay there again.
"Enjoyed our stay"
Spent four nights recently in the west wing of the Kirkton. The first impression as one drives up to it and into the lobby is how wonderful it looks. We were equally impressed with our room. Set on 70+ acres we had great views from our verandah of the mountains and pastures. Peaceful and quiet. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us, even allowing us to bring our own food and drink into the lounge for lunch. Lots of variety at breakfast. The room is a bit small and the bathroom quite small. Agree that the restaurant needs to vary its menu more. It is limited and didn't change while we were there. Some of the chairs on the private verandah are very uncomfortable (we swapped with another room who hadn't checked in yet, bad us). Finally although we thoroughly enjoyed the pool, which we had to ourselves, it is difficult and I would even say dangerous to get in and out of, especially if you have any mobility issues.
