"3 night stay"
Enjoyed our stay in one of the 6 cottages in the bushland surroundings on the edge of Lakes Entrance. Spacious cottages and good facilities including a pool and BBQ available to guests. The Lakes Entrance township and surrounding areas offered plenty of enjoyable options, including golf, boat cruises and places to eat.
"Brits in Lakes Entrance Cottages"
On arrival the land lady was extremely friendly to new guests and was very accommodating. The accommodation is exceptional and the facilities and amenities just makes the stay even better. We couldn't swim in the cold pool but enjoy some time in their spa which was warm and made the experience even better. Definitely will be staying here again if we come back to this part of the world
Arrived here on a road trip and stopped for 3 nights, found the whole stay excellent. I can't for any reason find why previous visitors moan!! What part of self catering don't they understand?? Anyway moving on the cottage was great comfortable, cosy, etc etc. Location was fine just a few minutes from shops and requirements, a couple of nights we bought provisions and had our meal in the BBQ area lovely evening apart from the mozzies!
"What a delightful find"
Firstly let me see I am stunned to see another reviewer complain at the absence of breakfast despite there being a large lettered notice at the entrance stating 'self catering' cottages. If he was disappointed the argument is with his travel agent not the supplier. Despite this, I think the reviewer was being a little churlish in that there was sufficient food provided in each cottage for a light breakfast for a couple of days as a 'welcome gesture'. We were met by the owner, Jan who took us to Cottage 6 and explained everything in detail. The cottage was a million miles away from the tensions of daily life Ina rural setting a couple of kilometres from Lakes Entrance and all its restaurants and facilities. The cottage was beautiful with a large fitted kitchen, large diner/ lounge with a hidden laundry facility and a log burner set in a stone build hearth. The bedroom had a large bathroom ensuite including double spa bath and separate shower cubicle. On the site were a pool, spa, communal room and two gas barbecues. Jan and her staff could not have been kinder and we will return to the UK singing the praises of this 'cottage in the woods' and commending it to others.
Our UK travel agency had booked this cottage for us on a B&B basis as one of our stops as we travelled btween Sydney and Adelaide. Our experience started off when we arrived at reception to find no-one there. Checking in forms had been printed off and left on the counter to complete, with an instruction for those who hadn't paid to enter their credit card details. Completed forms were to be left on the counter ( imagine what your bank would say if anyone scammed them!) Our first impressions of the cottage was favourable - spacious and well equiped - but then we found the compendium of "do's" and "don'ts". The compendium also stated that as the cottages were intended to be self catering, only minimum provisions had been provided. This was certainly true, There was just enough washing up liquid in the kitchen, just enough liquid soap in the bathromm to see us through the night - I even checked to see if the tiolet roll sheets had been counted out !! (Thankfully not). As we had booked on a B&B basis, we then checked the fridge for the provisions - 4 slices of bread, two cartons of sugary fruit drink, two small pots of diced peach and four small satchets of preserves 1 marmalade, 1 jam, 1 peanut butter & 1 honey. Packs of sugary breakfast cereal and muesli were found on the windowsill. On the plus side, the cottage was equiped with laundry facilities so we took the opportunity to wash a few clothes. So far so good. However, when we tried to use the tumble drier we had a problem. After trying various things we decided to use the phone numbers provided to contact the owners. No reply on either. Despite leaving a message on their mobile they couldn't be bothered to ring us back. There was still no sign of anyone in the morning when we left. So after making sure we emptied the bins, washed & put away all our dishes as instructed, we ended up taking a load of wet washing with us to our next port of call. In the cottage compendium, there was an article saying that in 2008 the owners had been nominated in some state hospitality award scheme. I wonder why they haven't been nominated since.
