"Hard to fault-Food good-staff good"

   21-07-2017
Four adults went there for a couple of late afternoon drinks and enjoyed it so much we decided to come back a couple of nights later with two children. It was a nice setting for predinner drinks. The staff were attentive to the children and looked after them with some nice children's meals. The adults had a selection of entrees and mains and everybody was more than happy with their meals. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. The Accor advantage plus card was a bonus in helping to reduce the meal costs. The only little disadvantage is that there is room to offload people up any quite steep driveway to the reception area but then you have to park down that drive in a very small parking area. When it is wet it could be a challenge for the some people with any sort of disability and one person would probably need to go and get the vehicle and drive to reception. A lot of people I think would find it difficult to walk up the drive to reception When we are next in Paunui we would certainly go back to this restaurant

"A Unique Place"

The resort is in a great location perched on the side of a steep hill. The downside is if you have any mobility issues access to anywhere on the resort, (restaurant, pool car park etc) would be difficult. There is a golf buggy there the resort has but it uses are not promoted. Umbrellas in the unit would be handy as getting anywhere in the rain is impossible without getting wet. Being the quiet season led to a few challenges with the restaurant having limited reservations for a large seating area. On our second night we were turned away as the restaurant was " booked out" with two tables occupied with 2 people each and 5 bookings coming in for a total of 21 people all in a restaurant capacity of 80 odd people. Our Chalet was a Studio size which for the size was OK. The bed folded down out of the wall very 1970`s and about as comfortable. We actually slept in the bed around the other way to maximize comfort!!. The gas wood heater looked great would have been better if it worked but apparently they are being removed. An old over sized lounge was the only seating that was also uncomfortable. A couple of lounge chairs would suit so much better. The smell of mold was prevalent in the unit and obvious in the shower floor/wall joint and around the windows in the bathroom and main room. Another reason we changed to sleeping with our heads at the foot of the bed was because of the strong smell of mold near the wall. Overall would I stay here again? Being an Accor club member, yes I would using points but I would choose a different unit to the Studio style and probably summer months so unit could be aired regularly. I am constantly amazed that when you go to a restaurant they come over and ask how is your $35 meal? Is it up to your expectation? When you stay somewhere, spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars you never get asked after you have checked in, and in this case 7 days later at checkout "How is your accomodation? is it up to your expectations? Whether you are paying in points or cash it is all the same.

"Peace and tranquility"

This is a great place for a few days rest in beautiful bush surroundings and with excellent service and amenities. The restaurant is great too for breakfast and dinner. Such pleasant and helpful staff. Although the hotel has been there for many years, it has a modern feel about it. One word of caution, the property and separated chalets are located on a hillside. If you are elderly or relatively incapacitated, enquire about suitable rooms before you book. Also the restaurant is on an upper floor. But don't let it put you off.

"Anniversary getaway"

We were very happy with the friendly service we got. Our cabin no 6 was awesome. Tucked away amongst the trees. We loved the tranquil setting. Neat and tidy inside. Lovely on the deck. We were fore warned about the steps but it did not bother us. They also have a golf cart available to help out. The meals are very good.

"Beautiful Resort"

   10-07-2017
My family and I spent a week at Puka Park Resort. Our rooms were excellent and the couple of issues we had initially were rectified very quickly. Evening meals were excellent (we ate in the restaurant on 6 nights) and service was friendly and professional with particular mention to Hazel, Chanel and especially Eddie. Breakfasts were inconsistent - some items were overcooked/charred on more than one occasion (bacon and pancakes), we would have preferred the traditional hotel buffet rather than ordering from a menu.
