It had been a long driving day and we wanted to stop short of Auckland. I'm glad we chose Hamilton & the Novotel Tainui. Excellent welcome and very helpful front desk. Our room was very comfortable. After finding 3 close by recommended restaurants full, we ended up dining at the hotel. What a pleasant surprise. The hotel has an outstanding restaurant. My wife and I both had an excellent dinner with friendly, helpful service. Not only do I recommend the hotel, I heartily recommend the restaurant.
"Clean, close to Hamilton city center"
I stayed 1 night here for transit before going to Rotorua. I enjoyed staying here, the food was good, and in the afternoon, i went around the hotel and there were a park went you go out from the hotel, convenience store also near this hotel and in front of the hotel there was italian restaurant. they don't give free wifi, so, you have to buy for using wifi. They also didn't give complimentary water in room , so if you want to get free water, you can go to lobby and fill your own tumbler in their lobby. Oh, when i stayed there, i read a poster which said that a kid doesn't need to pay more for breakfast, something like that ... :)
"Overnight at Novotel Tainui, December"
The hotel is well-situated in the middle of Hamilton, with good access to restaurants, bars, pubs etc, and near to the Waikato if you need a good track for running. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean, well-equipped and tidy. I used room service in the morning for breakfast, which was on time and of a very good standard. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked good. I also didn't get a feel for how much parking was as I didn't drive but there didn't appear to be much out front. I also had a quick look at the gym on level 1 and that appeared well-equipped. We were here for business, but I would consider this hotel in future for personal trips, being well-positioned as it is and being a good standard of hotel.
"Good Overnight stay"
We stayed here for the last night on of our NZ holiday, for free using Accor points before flying out from Auckland. Everything was great as expected from a Novotel, as well as great food from the restaurant. This would make a great place to stay for business as it has that feel about it, - so much so that it changed my mood from holiday to work...
"My new Fav in the Tron"
The Novotel in Hamilton is my new favourite hotel for business trips and I’ll tell you why! For starters I travel regularly for work and am exposed to many of NZ’s hotels so was very pleasantly surprised when I checked in at the Novotel. Concierge staff, checking in, Parking… I was greeted warmly and my luggage was whisked away (I had arrived early in the morning for a conference which I was only checking in for later). There is a large bowl of Jaffas at the front desk and cold water available in the lobby for the parched traveller. I used the valet parking which is only $5 more than the underground parking at Sky City. All very easy and convenient. Later when I was checking in, the lady who attended to me at reception was friendly and patient and oozed service (with a gold shiny star). She checked me in and had my luggage to me quick smart. I felt cared for and welcomed. Top marks. The Room The décor in my room was awesome. Really modern and contemporary without being uncomfortable and fringe. The lighting solutions were abundant and obvious. Everything was where it should be and the room was very clean and spacious. I felt very at home. Room Service (RS) I ordered room service on a night there was a dinner of 30 people booked in and at around about the time they were ordering (19h15). The Room service attendant told me over the phone that it could take an hour. I was going to opt out and he said that was worst case scenario but he would do his best for 40minutes. Well I had my food in 32minutes! Good customer service! RS Food I ordered the soup and the fettuccini. The soup had noodles in it which were abundant, so probably not the right choice with the pasta as a main however the soup was very well favoured. Spicey chicken laksa. Not too spicy and very yummy. The fettuccini was on the right track with olive tapenade and tomato salsa but the sauce was a bit chunky and not wet enough for me. And I think the flavoursome soup had my tastebuds a little let down at the pasta. Restaurant The restaurant was pleasant enough. The breakfast foods were actually awesome. I was very impressed. At dinner I ordered the steak dish which comes with prawns and oysters. The waitress commented that it was really huge in a way that made me feel a bit chastised but I soldiered on and had a go. The steak was flavoursome but not the best cut. Prawns were tasty and the oysters were good. Big fat chips too which were the perfect texture. There was a lot of options on my plate so I think it was worth the price of $45 even though none of the components were stand out…Maybe the chips were! Activities The hotel is situated right next to the Waikato river and you can toddle down the steps outside the entrance and go for a long run along the river on an excellently made pedestrian path. I loved this path and ability to walk along the river after work. Such a great travel perk.
