"Great city centre hotel"

Staff very good and helpful we had an apartment which had everything you could need in it ..we actually ate in the room and relaxed which was great . Only one drawback air con wasn't working properly and the DVD we stopped half way through . Would visit again

"interesting and different"

we stayed in an apartment on the 1st floor clean, roomy plenty of facilities coffee machine, dishwasher, washing and drying machine, microwave, crockery and cutlery The position is great next to the Museum, close to plenty of eating establishments, close to the waterside, we found plenty to do within walking distance over 2 full days. An interesting hotel. staff were good

"Good bones - but needs work"

This could be truly great but it needs quite a bit more work. It has only recently been purchased by QT and remodelling is going on. Our room has not yet been refurbished - would be interesting to see the final product. The original rooms definitely look dated and in urgent need of a refresh - the structure is all there, just looking tired... old air-conditioning, old carpet, old remote... Some issues with functionality too - hopefully these will be fixed in the remodeling. Eg our room was massive but the space is not well used. The TV is miles from the bed so hard to watch it from there but the arrangement if chairs closer to the TV is not practical either as the way it is laid out only one person can watch tv. Same with the shower. Big but not sure why... shower on one side but you have to walk two metres to get to the alcove that holds the shower gel etc. Shower is positioned in a way that turning it on while splash you with cold or hot water. Not very practical. The glass in the bathroom door is also not the best choice - do you really want to see your travel companion sitting on the toilet? Hopefully all these will be fixed in the remodel. Breakfast was included in our room but it actually was disappointing given the calibre of Hippopotamus restaurant. Not well used either. I'm sure the a la carte is decent but the buffet breakfast could have used more choices, and some love. If you don't get people using the buffet then just turn it into a la carte ordering so you don't have to put out buffet choices that are not widely used. Or if you have a buffet give more options. And do consider the layout too - if you split the cereals from all the choices you can have with them (fruits yoghurt etc) then that doesn't make it an appealing choice. There is some work going on at the moment but it never disturbed us - you just see the closed off signs on all the rooms currently worked on. Half of our floor was being refurbished with guests staying on the other side. Wasn't a bother though. It will be interesting of the remodel fixes the issues. I hope so. The structure is there. And I'm a big fan of the QT hotels so it would be nice to have one in NZ.

"Staff great! A quirky and fun Hotel!"

My first time staying here. It's been a great experience as the staff are so friendly and helpful. I like the whole art theme while the room and bathroom were spacious and above all comfortable and stylish - ideal for relaxing. I will be back, that is for sure.

Stayed in an apartment on fourth floor. Exceptionally well appointed and laid out space. Kitchen area, sitting area, bathroom and bedroom. All kitchen facilities provided. Very good lighting. Bed comfortable. Only stayed one night but it was just ideal. Buffet breakfast included. Typical buffet breakfast of high quality. However, the offering of English Breakfast tea was simply appalling! It was poured from a jug, like warm, an odd grey colour and tasted of pencils. It was truly disgusting. The free Wi-fi was unreliable on all devices - dropping out every two or three minutes during our entire stay. Resorted to using my own data plan. Perfect location and recommended overall. And quirky art too!
