The hotel offer round-trip airport transfer, which is a nice touch. The driver was waiting for me at the airport when I arrived. The hotel restaurant offers a nice three-course menu for $12. The pool is good size. The hotel is a bit old, but overall, it offers excellent value.
"Not 5* anymore..."
We stayed at this Hotel for 4 nights in January. The room was clean and good size with balcony overlooking the pool area. The hotel offered a free airport transfer which I think is a nice touch. Breakfast was included in the room rate and also plenty to choose from, mixture of asian and western. The pool area was nice, but my friend got so many bites whilst lazing by the pool so remember your bug spray, It's quite green around the pool so thats probably why. The service wasn't great around the pool, you had to go up and order which I think is something they could look into, especially as they are a 5* property. If you didn't put your 'make up room' sign on, then they didn't come into the room which was abit annoying if you forgot to do this. There are now many hotels in Siem Reap to chose from and whilst I thought the price was fairly good for the location (5 mins walk into the hustle and bustle of the city), i'm not sure i'd return here. I can't pin point exactly what it was that I didn't like about this hotel, but it just wasn't quite what I was expecting.
"Charming, but old hotel"
The hotel is a bit older, but the friendliness of the staff make up for this. The location is ok and you can walk to Pub Street and Night Market. When you check-in, I would suggest a "non-connecting" room, unless you want a connecting room. The first night we had a connecting room and the next door neighbors were very loud. We could hear them crinkling snack bags and eating, walking around and talking. There was also light coming through the sides of the connecting door. It sounded like they were IN our room. We requested another room for the remaining stay and it was much quieter. However, we then had air conditioner issues. In the middle of the night, it would all of sudden just blow out hot air. We finally got someone to come up and look at it (after 2 requests to Front Desk). Because the control are linked to an old faulty master control panel (controls lights, air con etc), I think something must have come loose and was not responding to the air con controls. Breakfast at hotel is ok. Nothing special and good enough. Other than breakfast, I would not eat at the restaurant. We had a massage at the spa and it was ok. Prices are much higher than one of the massage places in the town. We received a discount card, but it is only applicable to specific types of massage. The pool is nice after a long day of sightseeing.
"Veery great staffs!"
Highly recommended! Great location, wonderful facilities, clean room, Great buffet and very helpful and friendly staffs! it worth it the price you paid. will stay in the same hotel when I'm come back!
"Bad and good"
Let's start with the bad...Buffet breakfast, almost made me want to eat outside the hotel even though it was included, the ham served in water....the eggs on top uncooked, most the food was oily, bacon, if it was bacon mainly fat, poor quality, sausages, tiny, once again cheap quality. Pasties undercooked, we've stayed in a lot of hotels in our travels and have to say this is probably the worst buffet breakfast I have incounted. The foyer is grand, looks great, but the hallway to our room was smelly, no airflow, carpets need replacing cracks in walls, lighting bad. The goods.....staff (besides the chefs doing breakfast) were amazing, really attentive, always smiling, friendly and professional, couldn't fault them. The location fantastic, only a short walk to most the main attractions. Great pool area, great size salt water pool, heaps of deck chairs, good gym, spa, bar, pool table. The hotel is so close to being special I think with some focus on the food being served and some cosmetic upgrades this hotel has really great potential. I'm not writing this to be critical, just some feedback so in the future the hotel is at the top of its game.
