"Lovely hotel shame about the communication "

   26-02-2017
I spent 5 days here with my family and it's absolutely lovely. Hotel does need updating but that is expected with any hotel I guess. We had several problems from day one and staff just were not able to communicate with each other which was extremely frustrating. The shower in my parents room would not work after speaking to 2 staff members who did nothingwe had to speak to the duty manager. The problem was too big so they said they would need to move my parents. In the end after lots of difficult conversations we were all upgraded to the club resort. All the problems we encountered were small problems that could have been sorted straight away but the lack of communication between staff really hindered this and ruined our first few days. It became embarrassing having to complain all the time. Duty manager sushila was very calm and tried her best to help us and did in most instances. The buffet is very limited and staff do not appear to be allocated to specific tables which means if you were Unlucky you could be waiting a long time before anyone approaches you if at all. The hotel had soo much to offer but the lack of communication between staff downgraded my rating on this hotel. Staff training is a must. Otherwise a wonderful and peaceful stay.

"Good location, excellent customer service and reasonably priced"

   26-02-2017
We stayed at the Leela palace hotel on an all inclusive booking for one week. We had a toddler and a baby with us. Here's the pros and cons Pros - Ocean view room was a good size. - Private balcony comes with each room - Customer service was excellent. Staff always greeted you with a smile. - Personalised service available. E.g. the staff at the buffet always asked after our young children and even brought us a range of food which was child friendly and not available on the menu - Buggy easily available to drive you to the beach if you don't fancy walking - Children's play room available to play - Both infinity and the other swimming pool were clean and always manned by staff - Mouth watering selection of Indian good. Limited choice of European food but it is available. Cons - Beach isn't the best. It is not private, so anyone can just wander in. The guard then blow a whistle or shout aloud to ask them to leave. The view is restricted by the local mosque and loads of fishermen with their boats. - Nothing much to do nearby with kids. - The play room for children needs to be updated.

"Some good advice"

   25-02-2017
If you have been travelling in India and have previously stayed at Oberoi hotels , then be advised that the Leela although a 5 star is definitely not of the same standard. That said , the staff in the Club area are lovely. In particular Ambuj was extremely professional and went out of his way to make our stay a happy experience.

"Best place to enjoy sunset in Trivandrum !"

   25-02-2017
Being perched on a cliff ,the view is what this hotel is all about . Definitely the best place in Trivandrum to enjoy sunset sipping a cup of coffee . I can easily say that this is one of the best beach properties in Kerala .The overall service quality is probably one area the hotel could look at improving .

"Spectacular Location"

   24-02-2017
We booked a Club suite, which meant we had a luxury sedan (Audi A3) airport transfer included in our booking. This was an added bonus, as our flight arrived late and it was nice to see a welcoming face to get us to our accommodation safely. The hotel is located approximately a half hours drive from the airport. First impressions, it didn't disappoint. The staff were professional and polite. We were shown to our room by our butler and explained the features of the room and resort etc. The room is an average size suite, with a partition dividing the living area from the bedroom. The bathroom has a separate toilet, although it is only separated by a glass wall and door, a bit bizarre. There is a walk-in shower as well as a free standing bath. Then there's the view. Being perched on a cliff, the views are unobstructed. There is a verandah with one banana lounge as well as a table and chairs. A pleasant place to sit and overlook the ocean. We ate at the Club Buffett each morning, with an ok selection. Nothing really fabulous to talk about. We had room service one night and found it to be mediocre food, which was disappointing. Consequently, we ended up eating out for the next two nights at a local restaurant (Curry Leaf...highly recommended!). We did have lunch at the restaurant off the main reception area. We didn't do the buffett for lunch but opted for the al la carte menu instead. I would highly recommend this menu, plus the Pina Colada! There are two swimming pools. The main one, plus one for Club guests. Both are infinity pools and have amazing views over the ocean. The grounds are nicely kept and it is a pleasant walk through the grounds down to the beach. There is a golf cart available from reception, with driver, if you don't feel like walking down or back up the hill. The beach is ok, but the water was warm and full of rubbish. We sat on banana lounges under a cabana, which was a great way to laze away the afternoon. A chauffeur is available through the tour desk to take you around to the various tourist spots if this is what you'd like to do. We hired our driver for the afternoon and found him to be very helpful and informative (shout out to Shateesh!). He took us to the most amazing local restaurant and we had a truly incredible experience eating amazing food at a ridiculously cheap price. Local knowledge, as they say.
