"Beautiful Place with A Unfortunate Issue"
Absolutely love the hotel and staff including a very helpful manager. The only issue is that the floorboards are noisy and also the air conditioning was extremely noisy at night. That said what a great place, lovely pool cute bar area and really beautiful set up. Breakfast was fine without being spectacular. The location is within easy walking of many sights and the old area and markets. My partner did find sleep an issue or I would have given 5 out of 5. But I would definitely stay here again.
"Lovely, probably most charming place we stayed in SE Asia "
We adored the place and really felt like it added much to our stay in Luang Prabang. We stayed in a heritage room which was absolutely beautiful and yet functional with a bathtub: truly there was a bit of creaking but that is what happens with heritage places. The room was spacious and immaculate clean. The grounds were lovely with a beautiful garden to run around for our little monkey and plenty of butterflies coming to visit at the hottest hours. It is slightly out of the centre but we felt it was quite an advantage considering you can feel much more part of the city life with the small night stands nearby and the cool bridge over the river. The little temple attached is also great. We have to say that the manager went out of the way to help us with anything. The staff was very nice: people at the front desk may have had the occasional slip of english here and there but nothing really strikingly bad after living in SouthEast Asia for 4 years. I recommend this place to couples and family with kids that would enjoy the charming beauty of the grounds and the space and security. We will definitely recommend this place to our best friends and we will return if we have the chance to return from Laos.
"Pretty, but beware"
The goods news is that the hotel is as pretty as it looks like on the photos. The hotel is a short, 10 to 15 minute walk away from the city center. The walk is pleasant, so the location is ok. There is no harm in staying a bit away from the city center but I see no advantage either. The hotel comprises several small houses. I stayed on the ground floor of the Heritage House. The drawback of that was that you would hear whenever the guests from upstairs walked in their apartment or flushed the toilet. Maybe it is the same in the other houses, maybe it is not. I got unlucky because I got room number 1. Avoid it if you can. It is right behind the reception desk. This is a problem because the doors are very pretty but do not really protect noise. So you basically "lived" in the reception and would hear whenever someone talked to the receptionist, etc. to make matters worse, the Wifi did not work in the room. I also did not quite get why the shower head was installed at about where my chest was (I am not a giant). There are other things that I did not quite get. E.g., I bought some lacquer ware from hotel shop and asked for something to wrap it. All I could get was a plastic bag. Moreover, when my laundry was returned, yellow thread was stitched into all items. If have never before seen that and wonder why the guest would have to remove that. I guess my rating would have been higher if I had not had room no. 1, but stayed in another house and upstairs. But as it was, I do not have fond memories of my stay.
Spend 4 very enjoyable nights in this lovely hotel in superb location my room was lovely looking out on the swimming pool got amazing sun in the afternoon on my balcony ate a really nice dinner in the restaurant and I enjoyed my breakfast every morning nice yogurt fresh fruit eggs and nice baguettes loved my stay there
"Not worth the money! "
We have just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and I'm sorry but I really didn't like it! For a start it's so overpriced for what you get! We paid €400 for 4 nights! NOT WORTH IT! We were in the heritage block on the ground floor and I'd read reviews about it being noisy from people above but come on! It's so so bad. We've had 4 nights of dreadful sleep because of it. The room is clean and large which is a positive, bed is large but very uncomfortable. The shower doesn't reach above 5ft so you have to bend down to shower! The door to our room had a huge gap at the top so we had bugs in the room constantly. On arriving I realised quite a bad stain on my bed sheet so I asked reception if I could have a new sheet (not a hard request in a hotel!!!) he looked offended that I had asked and just never sorted me out a sheet. I went and asked an hour later and he said he didn't remember me and that id have to wait till tomorrow for clean sheets! I was so tired I just slept in them. The next day the cleaning staff didn't even change them!!!! There was a mark on the pillow case and this didn't get changed for the whole 4 days... disgusting! The pool area is quite nice and doesn't get too busy, I don't know why they've done the pool green, it's not very inviting. The hotel is in good location. Very close to Main Street. Everyone put comments about the temple opposite being loud.. I didn't think it was that loud. Maybe the people above were too loud for me to hear. All in all not a nice hotel. So so over priced, you don't even get a tv and the wifi is bad! Rude man behind reception. Bar staff are lovely so maybe they should be greeting guests instead! Such a shame as it sort of ruined my time in Laos. I won't be back.
