"Heaven on earth!!"

Cant express enough how much we loved this island. From the moment we stepped off the seaplane onto the promanade the beauty is beyond belief. My husband and I had the most wonderful Honeymoon/Anniversary.The island itself is so quiet and beautiful.I would recommend a water bungalow as they were outstanding and its so lovely to be over the water, you litrally climb straight into the sea from your balcony. The food was fantastic such a great range of choice for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner they also do afternoon and evening snacks. There are plenty of water activites to do here although we spent the majority of our days snorkeling. The sea life is fantastic we saw so many fish from puffer fish to sting rays it really was amazing. We did two excursions during our stay.Island hopping that was really interesting seeing local islands and Dolphin watching this was amazing so magical seeing them in there natural habitat. On both tours the tour guys were good and did everything to make your trip a great one.We cant thank our room boy Nazim and our Waiter Najeeb enough for making our stay the most comfortable and relaxing holiday ever. They work so hard and such long hours they deserve so my credit for making the guests stay so awesome.I am desperate to be back here and would recommend to anyone especially couples.Such wonderful memories made. I cant wait to get back there :)

"Stunning, blown away by all aspects of this holiday"

From the moment you get on the seaplane in Male you're in for a treat, When you land at the end of the jetty, Forget all of your woes as this place doesn't disappoint, for us it was two weeks of pure relaxation made even better by the staff and great food. All inclusives are always a lottery but not a problem here, plenty of choice and quality food, yes it could have been a bit hotter but bear in mind there are 100+ guests lifting the lids on the buffet. Yes there is quite a lot of spice, but you are in the Indian Ocean! table service was excellent as were the Naan breads made fresh every evening. Spacious over water bungalows, clean and tidy with adequate facilities. Comfy beds and fantastic outlook from deck area. Spotless beaches kept clean by hardworking ladies with brooms made from twigs. Crab restaurant was very nice but lacked ambience, could do with some mood lighting and a bit of light background music, but the food was good and service again excellent. WiFi was patchy but free for Virgin customers. People that we spoke to recommended the dolphin watching and fishing trips. Snorkelling boat trips were fine and adequate and well managed. Realistically for the money we paid we could not fault any part of our two week break.

"Our little bit of Paradise"

Beautiful place, beautiful people = wonderful holiday. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were so friendly. Our water bungalow was massive and kept so clean, it was even polished every day!! So much choice in the restaurant , the food was just delicious. The bar staff were so attentive we were never without a drink. We did have to pay for wifi which was the only downfall. As water was very shallow they put on a free boat to snorkel twice a day to a reef which was excellent, so many fish. We saw a barracuda and rays all around our water bungalows. Beach was beautiful and you could walk out so far into sea but I would recommend taking beach shoes to wear in water. The sea plane over was amazing and the views were fantastic. Overall an amazing holiday .

"Lovely & very good value for money island"

Visited in November for 2 weeks, this is my second visit to the Maldives and I totally love the place. I will break the review down into individual elements. The Island The island is beautiful with beach bungalows and water villas. You can walk around the island in about 10/15 minutes. There are sun beds dotted around the island along with hammocks and swings and there is always a quiet secluded spot to be found which is quite amazing considering how small it is. The sand is a little course and has bits of coral and shells in it, this didn't bother us but it may some. There isn't beach service fro drinks but you are only ever 5/6 mins walk from a bar to get one. The Lagoon The lagoon is beautiful, there have been reviews saying that the snorkelling isn't great which in my opinion is rubbish as I have been diving/snorkelling for over 30 years and saw much more in the lagoon than I did on the 2 snorkelling trips arranged daily by the hotel. The only thing to be aware of is the tides as this does play a major factor of when you can snorkel and also the strength of the currents because although the water is shallow the currents are strong, the good thing is because the water is so shallow you can always stand up if you feel tired (just be careful of the coral heads). We saw so many variations of small fish that you could get really close to it was amazing, we also saw turtles (very very tame) sting rays, moray (4/5 different types) hermit crabs, octopus, lion fish etc etc. The only thing we saw differently on the snorkelling trips were black tip reef sharks. The Room Great room with comfy bed, pillow menu, mini bar (I think the mini bar needs a rethink and maybe should include beer and wine in there and also the spirits that are included in the all inclusive package), water, TV with English film channels and DVD player. Great bathroom amenities including shower gel, shampoo, tooth brush and Colgate toothpaste, sewing kit, scrubbing pad, soap, cotton buds, comb and body lotion. Glass window in the floor with coral head directly below (lights up at night). Some reviews say the room is dark and this is true but it didn't really cause us any issues. Could do with more storage as only one wardrobe and 2 bedside cabinets. Rain coat supplied, flip flops and floatations devices for snorkelling all in the room. The decking has 2 beds and a parasol with steps down to the water, the deck is quite small and the steps quite steep so be careful. Our room boy was Karim again a lovely guy who couldn't do enough to help you. Restaurants There are 2 restaurants, the buffet and crab. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is of a good standard, you get a waiter allocated at the beginning of the holiday who brings drinks etc for your whole stay (our waiter was Samir and he was absolutely fab, a really nice guy) pretty much you will find something to eat no matter what your tastes are but if you can't you just need to speak to the waiter and they will sort something for you with the chef. In my opinion the restaurant has too many tables that are too close together so I think this needs a rethink as you are literally sat on top of the people by you. The fresh salad bar is great but again I think this needs a rethink because there was pretty much always a queue which was a pain being honest. The curry's and the freshly cooked naan's were amazing and the tastes and spices beautiful, we found ourselves going for these quite often because they were just so nice and nothing like curry's in the UK. There were always joints like beef, lamb, chicken, duck etc, freshly cooked noodles and pasta (omelettes at breakfast and waffles / pancakes). Fresh seafood from the lagoon (extra charges apply). There was always lots of desserts and a full cheese board. The al a carte restaurant crab was also nice and you could eat lunch here from the fixed menu as many times as you wanted to, the difference being that this is full waiter service. The gentleman that runs this is Rumesh and I have to say I haven't met many people as genuinely nice as this guy he really looked after us (thank you Rumesh), one negative is that the restaurant needs a face lift and making more intimate with lower lighting, I also think that this should be included in the all inclusive package allowing water bungalow guests to dine 3 or 4 times a week as part of the package. There are also a few special dinners you can have (extra charges apply) and we did a few all were fab with beautiful food and sparkling wine included. We did the Dhoni dinner and the beach barbecue and I totally recommend both. You could also get morning and afternoon snacks at the bar like cake, waffles, pancakes, sandwiches and savoury snacks. Drinks The included drinks were fine for us, beefeater GIN, South African wines all good, we didn't try the cocktails as they aren't really our thing but people seemed to be enjoying the ones that were included. You can pay for some other drinks but in my opinion it just wasn't worth it as the ones provided were fine. One thing I didn't understand was why coffee in the bar was chargeable like espresso and cappuccino (it cost $15 for 2 drinks!!) The bar staff were all amazing and looked after us very well, again genuinely nice guys. Diving What can I say amazing, Mantas (a life long dream fulfilled) dolphins, sharks, moray, rays, turtles, fish fish and more fish, just so much life on every dive amazing. The dive team were fab and the service excellent. Summary In summary this place is great value for money, yes you will find better but you will also pay a lot more for that experience as I did the previous year. If you want fine dining and silver service this place isn't for you but if you want genuine people, good service and a relaxed atmosphere for a reasonable price then book it. One final couple of notes that in my opinion do need addressing quickly is firstly the cleaning of the public toilet areas as these sometimes were not great. Secondly the seemingly lack of care regarding seeing rubbish in the sea & the small island you pass when going on the snorkelling trip, this could easily be sorted and could be cleaned up in a couple of hours. An example of the rubbish in the sea point was one day walking back from a diving trip there was a black bin liner with some bottles of empty spirits in the sea, my wife mentioned this to a member of the dive staff and their response was that it was OK as it would float away. What I don't understand is why when this is their home that is so beautiful that this was the attitude, I just found this very sad and worrying for the future of this amazing location.

"Out of this world!!"

We went here for our honeymoon and for both of us it was on top of our bucket list and it did not disappoint one bit! We did everything we possibly could from swimming with turtle right outside of our water bungalow to catching the biggest fish in my life-wahoo,seeing sharks, rays, dolphins and all the beautiful fish. But what made our honeymoon perfect was all staff in Hakuraa. We joined them in football, played rugby and especially cricket with them and we never met most friendliest and happiest people ever! Of course I even joined to dance in their traditional Maldiviens dance as part of one night entertainment. Reception staff were superb, even the doctor on island which we have to go see after playing all that sport was simply amazing! Our waiter for whole stay Suoodh was fantastic, getting me drunk by the time I finished my breakfast :) Our "salad man",such a sweet sweet guy and making this amazing salads which we now making ourselves at home as we loved it that much! Our "Little chef" with those naan breads and pancakes and waffles, simply amazing! But the one who made the biggest impression on us was our housekeeper Haneef, the sweetest guy in the whole island, making sure we always have everything we need and more,so attentive,so friendly and if we could pack him in our suitcase,we would! Every single one of you,THANK YOU! Thank you for making this dream come true for us and we will try our hardest to return to see you all again in the future. Much love Oli & Steph
