"A Great Pleasure To Stay Here"
It was a great pleasure to stay here. Our stay here was really enjoyable and I appreciated the friendliness of all the staff from management to the path sweeper. Management should be proud of their staff. open air reception area is really magnificent and we were made so welcome with music being played as we drove in and then provided with a welcome drink. Set the atmosphere for our stay here. We were then taken to our room and had everything explained to us rather than been given your key and find out for yourself. Our room was really magnificent with the large bedroom with a four poster bed with this view over the lake. The room has a large shower, a barrel bath and two balconies. There is so much room you do not know what to do with all the area. But not complaining. Only complaint is the lack of lighting along the paths of a night which can be dangerous for those with bad sight or older people who might have difficultly walking. There is a cart pickup and a torch is provided but it still would be good to have more lighting. We had three meals in the restaurant as part of our trip and each meal was very good. The stand out meal was the rack of lamb which was really well cooked. Equal to any I have eaten anywhere in the world. Compliments to the Chef. The breakfast there was plenty of variety but the only complaint is that the food in the warmers was not hot enough. But there was something there for everyone. The dinning room is is something to see with all the timber. It is something to see and appreciate. People might complain about the WiFi but it was free, it was available even if you had to go to the reception area to use it. Some hotels its not available and then it cost you and it is then real slow. The pool area with its view over the inle lakes is something to see. I would like to thank the management and staff for making our stay so enjoyable and we really appreciated the friendliness of everyone working in the resort
Situated on the shore of Lake Inle this is a fabulous luxury resort. Public areas are in local style and impressive. Prices same as Rangoon and Mandalay. We were unfortunately not there long enough to sample all the facilities. Food in restaurant to high standard for the middle of nowhere. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are enormous, almost too big as when you lose something there are so many places to look. Two large beds each with mosquito nets. VERY comfortable TV has a few channels but enough to keep up with world news. There is a huge shower, separate bath, separate toilet. The enormous wooden tub is not all that practical but looks fantastic. Free wifi in reception area only but reasonable speed. Very pleased we stayed here.
"Generally comfortable stay, but dim lighting in rooms"
We stayed here 3 nights as part of a group. The hotel is very airy, spread out over a large area with large open air areas. Our room was chalet-style (as were all the others), about 50m from the main hotel building. The room was huge (around 120 square metres by my guess), well appointed and comfortable, but there were several minor issues. Lighting in the room is very poor - the only decent light was from a desk lamp immediately behind the bed. Curtains are very difficult to open & close (heavy resistance from curtain tracks), and the sliding doors to the deck were warped so that there was a clear air-gap at the bottom. With floor on several levels it was essential to leave a light on at night to avoid accidents. Wooden bath and sink looked better than they worked, and the toilet was so far from the walls it was a stretch to reach toilet paper! We ate dinners as a group in the restaurant from the set menus - this was a variable experience. One of the local set menus was not to our taste, the second local set menu was pretty good and the third dinner was western, with a choice of main of chicken or fish - I opted for chicken, but they ran out & had to cook my meal separate to the rest of the group. Consequently, I got served well after the rest of the group. Drinks service was also variable - I didn't get water at one dinner and on one occasion when we ordered 2 cocktails they took 25 minutes to arrive. Breakfasts were good - a good range of options. Laundry service was good - prices very fair & same day service. Wifi speed was reasonable (and free), but given location in rural Myanmar was better than expected. Staff invariably friendly and helpful and all the ones we had contact with spoke OK English. Overall, a nice hotel, but with room for improvement.
"Stylish, but style trumps function in this hotel's somewhat dated offering."
Stayed for 3 nights, dinner B&B with a group. As others have said, the rooms are huge, large bedroom, separate entry hall, separate dressing area, huge shower space, separate toilet. When we arrived, towels in swan shapes on the bed, rose petals on the sheets, and in the enormous teak bath-tub (takes two people....). The food was good, both breakfast and dinner and staff very friendly and obliging. Nice pool area, decent size pool but water a little on the chilly side. But... the hotel management seem to have forgotten that when people come to stay in a hotel, the looks are important but function has to be thought of as a prime concern. What could be bettered? Well, lighting so dim you could hardly see what you are doing in the room; the bath is uncomfortable with its steep sides, and uses indecent amounts of water; the water supply smells sulphurous; the bed is only 5 ft but these days 6 ft is expected in a 5* hotel; there is no WiFi in the rooms; there is no shaving/make-up mirror and the shower is not thermostatic. We found the room so huge, with so many storage areas, we kept forgetting where we had put things! So looks good, but could definitely do with a bit of updating and a little more thought about what guests really value in their accommodation.
"A Beautiful Place to Stay"
From the 250 year old Banyon tree at the entrance to the gorgeous pool and the villas at lake edge, the Aureum Palace hotel at Inle Lake offers a great location, excellent service and an opportunity to rest and relax in style. Our welcome in the open sided reception area was warm and friendly. Our villa was spacious and well appointed, with a huge three way bathroom area and a deck over the ponds at the edge of the lake. The only drawback for me was a bed that was slightly too firm for sleeping really comfortably - although, when requested, the staff promptly brought a plain sheet and blanket to replace the totally unnecessary doona. Breakfasts were more than adequate with a wide range of western and local options. We ate in the dining room each night and enjoyed a wide variety of cuisines, including a local Shan menu one evening. We are unlikely to visit Inle Lake again, but if we were to to so, we would certainly stay here again.
