"Short Stay but Great Experience"

The location of the Resort at the foot of the Hill is beautiful. It is a modern and well-appointed hotel with all the accessories. Good food in the restaurant. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. The pool area looked inviting but we did not have time to take advantage of that. The location was convenient. No problems.

"Lovely hotel and good location"

We spent 3 nights in this hotel at the end of December. Our rooms faced west with views towards the city. We did have a chance to see the views from the rooms that faced Mandalay Hill and these looked to be better. The rooms were large and comfortable though the bathrooms were a bit tired and dated. The foyer, reception area, restaurant and pool are modern and well-presented. All the staff we encountered were young, polite, helpful and courteous (and those at reception and in the restaurant were particularly good). The breakfast buffet was extensive with a great variety of choice (both Western and Asian). If you are a non-smoker, then request to be seated inside rather than out on the terrace! For dinner, the restaurant offers a choice of a la carte and buffet. We chose the a la carte and it was always sufficient for our needs. One evening we chose to have the outdoor BBQ. This is set in the beautiful gardens on the far side of the swimming pool. You select your own meats and vegetables and then give your plates to the chefs who then cook your meals and bring them to your table. During the evening there is a live performance, initially a traditional puppet show and then traditional Myanmar dancing showcasing different styles from a number of centuries. This was a highlight of our stay in the hotel. A number of famous pagodas and the re-built royal palace are all within walking distance of the hotel (which itself is at the very fringe of the bustling city area, so not too noisy by Myanmar standards).

"A touch of class in a location that was stunning, Gold covered Pagoda's & Temples all around the hotel"

We visited Myanmar early December 2016 and was fortunate enough to spend a full week at this hotel, a wonderful walk back in time, the staff at reception were prepared to bend over backwards to ensure your stay was as we wanted it to be. The rooms were a delightful airy with plenty of natural light and wonderful views no matter what part of the hotel you were in, the air conditioning was a welcome thing after a long day walking the streets on Mandalay markets & shops. The dining room has an atmosphere where you can just walk in and in feels like you are in the 1950's, Most meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner are generally served in this area where the staff greet you very courteously and escorted & seated at the table of your choice, all with linen serviettes & table cloths. They have the most amazing outdoors B B Q night once a week with the finest range of tasty morsels, such as all sorts of seafood, beef, Chicken, pork along with a range of salads that you can't believe and then they have the most amazing deserts to finish the night and lets no forget all of this come with a live outdoor floor show that has to be seen to be believed and don't forget your camera's. Choices of food are amazing, you could have an la carte breakfast or the most amazing buffet, a very difficult but pleasant decision to make in the morning, and if you can't make a clear decision, well you can have your choice of both, no problems at all !!, They also have an area where you can also take your meals in an outside courtyard which is also a very pleasant atmosphere. All in all a 5 Star hotel and facilities that is coming out of a long hibernation and they are grabbing the opportunity to do so, Thank you Mandalay Hill Resort.

"Mostly very good"

Our room was a good size, and had a good view of Mandalay hill. The restaurant staff were excellent, as was the breakfast buffet and food in general. The negatives - some rooms appear to have been updated - ours was not one of them, and so only had very lose European type power sockets and a very small bathroom with no separate shower cabinet. There was a local band playing loudly in the Kipling Bar - not quite the atmosphere of a gentlemans club, which is how it is advertised - so we didn't have a drink there. Conclusion- would be very good with some room updating.

"Fine hotel but lacking the finishing touches of a great hotel"

The hotel is a bit run down and needs a bit of TLC, the pool looked great but the rooms were a bit tired and bare, as was the bathroom. The bar was nice with some live music (only ok) in the evenings and the breakfast was extensive (and started early which is good if you need to get out early).
