Over Park Royal Hotel

"Well used but warm and friendly services. "
Service was top notched across all departments. No complains at all. It's located ~45mins-1hr from airport. Supposed to be walkable to nearby markets but I did find the streets to be generally too dusty and busy. It could be too dark at night to do so and too hot in the day. Taxi would be your best friend. Price to Chinatown should be in range of 2-3k kyat. Comfortable bed and pillows. Could do with better soundproofing and a little refreshing of the toilets. Property is generally clean. Gym is well equipped but pool is closed at night. Went ~9pm but it's all dark so I went the gym instead. Minor changes in its international breakfast menu daily which is good.
"A great hotel"
Really friendly but efficient staff. Lovely room with security lifts to all floors. Spa, gym and outdoor swimming pool are amongst the attractions. Good WiFi in your room which was a decent size with chairs and small coffee table. I did not try the restaurant for an evening meal though there was a wide choice of food available. Breakfast was buffet style and had everything imaginable on offer in either hot or cold form. Situated in the South area of Yangon it is a smart, clean hotel that I enjoyed staying at very much.
"Park it here and walk around "
Top of the List. Greeted with a gracious welcome drink and handshake, the ParkRoyal offers what you'd expect from the star rating proudly plastered near the entrance. For me the best thing about these hotels is the breakfast buffet and all the options. The had everything including sushi, kim chi, dim sum, croissants, M&M candies and of course lots of delicious hot dishes and made to order omelettes. Our room over looked an inviting pool which felt nice in the afternoon. They also have a gym with all the typical equipment. The bed was comfy and bidet a nice bonus. The wifi was relatively fast. No complaints just compliments.
"Great Location-Nice Pool-Good Spa"
I must have researched dozens and dozens of hotel and finally selected Parkroyal because of its location and pool. It was as advertised and what the reviews pretty much said it would be like for a mid-range hotel. The feel of the hotel is more of a business atmosphere and the hotel is actually quite large will long hallways to get to your rooms. I had read to get a city type view as the pool view was not that great so they guy looked at me a bit strangely and in fact gave us a front street view that was so loud with cars honking every 10 seconds and the room had an bathroom odor. It took me all of 2 minute to figure out I had made a mistake and really city view here is nothing I cared to see and the noise was way too loud for my light sleeping ears. Within 10 minutes a bellboy arrived to move our luggage and had keys to another room on the 6th floor facing the pool. Ahhhhh peace and quite. This room was so quite we oversleep both days we were there! Room was well appointed with nice toiletries, feather pillows, nice linens, robes, towels and the like. Room was large with a nice sitting area. Great lighting, good black out curtains and so quite. We received free newspaper every morning, the breakfast which was included in our package as very extensive and pretty much anything you could ever want. My husband used the spa for massages every night. The massages were about $40 US and very good. They offer to come to your room if you want to have a in room massage for the same price. I used the pool both days and yes service was a bit slow, more like you go to the staff and tell them what you want. Which is nice instead of people coming up to you every 1/2 asking you if you want drinks again and again. The food (spring rolls) and drinks Singapore sling were very good and actually the best spring rolls I had during our entire trip. Food was priced fine for a hotel. Pool was a little small for lounge chairs I would say there were about 15 lounge chairs and several seated chairs when I went down at 4:00pm they were all taken and I used a regular chair to sun bathe in which was fine once I got my Singapore sling. The water was so refreshing and everyone was popping in as it was quite hot out. A little tip.... they have a dessert bar in the entrance of the hotel and we didn't get dessert one night when we were out and grabbed one at the bar and it was happy hour you get 2 for 1 in the evenings. For dinner we did not stay in the hotel we went to the Golden Duck which was another highlight of our Yangon trip. Several people mention that you can walk everywhere but we found that the streets were very dusty roads, hot ,lot of dogs running around and general not a leisurely type of walk to get to places we used the cab to get to the palace and golden duck and it was so cheap like $1.5 US so we didn't walk that much even though you can it just wasn't what I thought from the reviews as "you can walk everywhere" well you can but do you want to? All in all the hotel is exactly what I thought it would be, if the rooms had been upgraded I would have given it 5 stars. We had no issues, slept well, had good food, pool super clean and spa was great. Thank you Parkroyal for a great stay.
"Always a good stand by"
This hotel is close to the market - which is always good for a wander. The hotel is well appointed and has multiple restaurants. Hotel staff were friendly and efficient in organising transport. Wifi is good here.
