Kandy was in de 16e eeuw de hoofdstad van het laatste Singhalese rijk. Zij wordt door velen als de mooiste stad van Sri Lanka bestempeld en Kandy is dan ook onmisbaar tijdens uw reis door Sri Lanka.
"Great 2 days at the "Earls Regency""
This hotel is situated less than 10kms away from Kandy city centre surrounded by mountain ranges and especially from room 218 where we stayed we could see the famous 'Knuckles mountain range'. Hotel has a great outdoor pool shallow end 4.5ft to deeoend 5ft (children friendly) as adjoining is the pool bar. However, drinks and food to the pool comes from the "Mountbatten Bar" on the 2nd floor of the hotel even though you place your orders at the pool bar. Which means it takes approximately 5 minutes for a drink to reach you. Hotel has a spectacular breakfast and dinner buffet everyday. We stayed 2 nights on half-board basis hence we tried two breakfasts and two dinners and was great on all occasions. Food variety spans from Sri Lankan, Indian, Asian, Mediterranean to European and American. Best feature of the hotel for me is Staff who are well trained on their duties. Also the welcoming nature they always maintained. Also, provided a slightly late checkout even though the hotel was fully booked with a wedding happening at the hotel. You could get a tuk tuk from the Kandy city center to the hotel for a sum of Rs.600.00 best advice is to get the tuk tuk driver's phone number and use him to commute during your stay. If this is the case, your traveling fees would usually be a bit cheaper. Things to do while you stay in Kandy would be: 1. Visit the palace of the lord Buddha's tooth relic. 2. Ceylon tea museum in Hantana. 3. Traditional Sri Lankan and folk dance event at 5pm at the Red Cross auditorium in the city center. (Usually a 1hr event, indoor) 4. Visit the Kandy City Center shopping complex if you wanna shop. 5. Pinnawala elephant orphanage (bir of a drive from Kandy). Usually done on the way to kandy or on the way back to Colombo. 6. Peradeniya Botanical garden visit. 7. Spice garden visit. 3 nights in Kandy would be ample for all the activities. The place to stay is "Earls Regency". I found Agoda.com to be the cheapest at the time of the booking. It was around 25% cheaper than other online booking sites.
"Amaizing two days"
Perfect place to spend a holiday, relaxing environment, we spent two nights in this amazing place, very calm atmosphere, staff are also very friendly and their warm welcome made us our short holiday more wonderful. Great customer service, food was also the best we tried compared to most of other hotels we have stayed this time in Sri Lanka. Keep up the good work.
"Best Holidays we had"
negatives : little far from kandy city + traffic on the way to Kandy positives : Many.. trust me this is a GREAT hotel. First thing first, service. kind, attentive staff who allocated the exact rooms i requested. Food was good and since i checkedin on a weekday lunch i went for the setmenu which was GREAT with many lovely variations.. they served my dad Red rice(as requested) and even applogiesed for the delays in serving.. very humble people in the resturant. Room, pool ans the views was PERFECT and i would really love to come back.

What a fabulous hotel , jacuzzi on the balcony , fabulous bathroom , bedroom with table already set for an in room evening meal .. Love it .. Well worth a visit even if it was raining . Made our other hotels look like total rubbish .recommend it . Made us feel special our other hotels made us feel like it was a huge mistake to come to Sri Lanka . Only hotel I would revisit
"Perfect place to mix business & Pleasure"
We stayed here for a conference but we give it 5 stars. Gorgeous campus, great food, helpful staff, and beautiful pool setting. The way the Architect honors the rock and brings it in and out of spaces is amazing! We realized this is literally the most expensive place to stay in Kandy. Since we normally seek out more budget friendly places, the finer details were not lost on us!! "Breakfast included" here meant a multi- cultural buffet! Sri Lankan, Indian, European, and American influenced stations! The food was really good. Workout fitness center and gorgeous (outdoor) pool were used everyday by us. The front desk helped arrange drivers and gave other advice on how to handle some things. The lounge area was very nice and had live entertainment most of the nights we were there. The one downside is that the on site restaurant never opened before 730pm which is not very conducive for international travelers...so we never dined there. As a conference venue, it was also a great place. There was ample space for the meetings and then reception. The one downside is the constant interruption and need to re-login to the wifi. Although this is very common in Asia, we somehow expected better here...! The business center is basically a computer in a quiet corner- if you need anything printed you need to involve the front desk staff. It was very easy to walk off the campus and use the city bus to get to town (20Rs). This was a nice oasis and great way to begin our journey in Sri Lanka.
