"Worth for a short stay "
Jetwing Sea in comparison with other Jetwing hotels is quite average in my opinion. It's definitely worth staying for a short get away only but not for any special occasion trips. Overall, the service is great along with friendly smiles from the staff. The food is good but could definitely be better. One main highlight is that the beach is located in a direct radius of the hotel. One downside of this hotel could be that the wifi is slow but that shouldn't be a problem if your looking to enjoy the beach, pool and culture of Sri Lanka for an experience and not just for a photo to share on social media.
"Warm welcome to Sri Lanka "
This is the first hotel we stayed in Sri Lanka and it really set the bar high. This hotel was cheap so we were extremely impressed to see the quality of room and service we got. From arriving we were loved every minute of it, the views of the sea were relaxing, and the beach was well maintained. Due to the long flight my girlfriend and I were very tired so we decided to order room service and sit on the balcony. The food was amazing and I am quite a foodie. Not to mention we were both very please to see a 2 course meal each and some beers came to around £35! Outstanding. The bed and room was superb. I got a much needed quality sleep. Breakfast buffet the next morning was just as good as the food the night before. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Very cheap for the quality you receive. Very clean and very friendly. Well done Jetwing Sea. We are looking forward to staying in another JetWing hotel.
"Welcomed like returning royalty!"
Is this what it feels like to be the KIng and Queen.?...my wife was here last year with a friend, who herself has stayed at Jetwing Sea several times and so on arrival it seemed like almost every member of staff remembered her and made a point of coming over to say hello! We weren't staying here as such as I had wanted us to experience a new hotel together ( we were about 1.5 km away) but a nippy tuck-tuck brought us over one evening for a special seafood banquet, prepared for a limited number of seated guests around a central workstation in the restaurant.. There was a relaxed ambience in the room and beyond the open edge of the building the sea crashed and the Lightning thrashed the sky. There was some visible work taking place on a swimming pool to the side of the restaurant and before seating Mahesh ,the executive chef gave me a quick guided tour of the hotel. It's very close to the beach, on it in fact, there's a second pool further along and a smaller ,self choice sea food shack/restaurant...also a spa facility which was undergoing some work too. Anyway, we were here for food and so were joining a couple from Germany on their honeymoon and a pair from Latvia...we were able to see the great selection of seafood and watch the preparation of each succulent course from about a foot away....we were even invited into the chefs area to see from behind the counter...the other restaurant guests must have wondered who the heck we were because the were two photo breaks when entire kitchen brigade came out for a catch up with the wife too! The freshness and quality of the meal surpassed anything we had in our ten day trip and the friendliness of the staff evident throughout. The starter, soup, main courses included everything from prawns, squid, and some amazing tuna steaks and all seasoned with a wide variety of exotic spices( exotic for us,anyway!) and the dessert was fabulous....literally almost unable to find room for it. The banquet, which is an additional cost,I think, for residents worked out as 9500 rupees per couple, about £22.50 per person, and in our opinion worth every penny of it...not something you could do every night but as a Super Tuesday treat well worth it Our experience was limited to the Banquet itself...during my time I walked past and into 9 different hotels both North and South of our own including Jetwing Blue and Jetwing Beach but Jetwing Sea was that little bit too far to get to in daylight. I found the design of all these hotels to be very similar with open fronts, generally, restaurants open at ground level and the beach extremely close with the inevitable beach sellers able to get very close to customers sunbeds...Jetwing Sea seemed no different to them but I cannot speak for the rooms. Our own hotel, The Heritance, was generally deserted during the day ,as guests seemed to disappear on a variety of locally available trips or even further afield and, again, the Jetwing Hotels seemed to follow that pattern when I strolled through. Our thanks go to Mahesh Wanniarerachchi and his able assistant Malith for their great culinary skills....and their relaxed approach with their international guests...well done guys.
"Average, compared to other Jetwing hotels"
We've been there on October, good staff service, good foods. But, cleanness of the rooms and area is average compared to other Jetwing hotels. And also electricity went down several times & internet is too slow.
"Would not recommend"
The rooms at the ground floor are smelly and damp. Wet floor, wet walls, and soon wet clothes. Very noisy air conditioning. The hotel needs to be refreshed! When we asked the reception to make a restaurant reservation for us we where told that they do not provide that service, because the hotel has also a restaurant! Food is OK. Friendly service. Good spa.
