"Very good hotel for family vacation"
The location is very good. Just one block away from Sogo department store. I really liked that there were 2 choices for morning breakfast as well. The cleaning staff is also very good and our room was in good order each day of our stay. The rooms are very clean and tidy. They could update the rooms as they seem a bit dated. Also, there were these little flies in our bathroom, could have been just ours as I didn't hear any of our family who stayed in 4 other rooms complain about this. Nothing crazy, but I'd just see a small fly here or there.
"Comfortable hotel with good staff"
Front desk staff displayed excellent service hospitality. Special mention goes to Yu, who processed my check-in. Room was spacious and comfortable. Hotel facilities are well-maintained and I love their swimming pool especially --- quiet and has sufficient sun-tanning decks. Location wise, the hotel is not too far a walk away from the MRT station. This is a reliable Taiwanese brand that will not go wrong.
"Very happy with our stay"
Very clean, quiet rooms. Enjoyed buffet breakfast as well as dining. Nice location, safe and close to T. Pool was not open but looked very nice. Room was booked as part of a tour, but I would definetly rebook if I were to return to Taiwan..
"Highly recommended, especially for families"
From check-in to check-out, the service was excellent. Bell service, room service, concierge desk, were all superb. One thing you will notice about this Hotel is that it is sizeable. The lobby is impressive. Stayed here as a family of 3 adults in a Rosewood Junior Suite for 4 nights. It was very comfortable. Two twin beds in the main bedroom and they set-up two single beds (folding) in the living room area (not sure why there were two beds set-up, but my daughter enjoyed and used the extra bed as her staging area). Our beds in the main bedroom were great. Pillows (we requested for extra ones) were great as well. When you come back at night, the room will look like the first time you entered (except of course for whatever personal things you have left out). There's a small walk-in closet where you can hang your coats and other clothes that require hanging. The t&b was clean and functional. All bath products provided were from L'Occitane. You actually don't need to bring anything of your own (well except maybe your own toothbrush). WIFI is free and is available all throughout the Hotel. Location is in a quite neighborhood, a mix of office and residential buildings. It is walking distance from a couple of big department stores (Sogo, etc.) and shopping areas. It is also walking distance to 2 train stations (around 10 minutes). We took taxis most of the time though as taxi fare in Taipei is relatively cheap. Rate came with breakfast buffet, either chinese or western (in separate restaurants/outlets. The chinese breakfast buffet is held in the lobby restaurant, while the western breakfast buffet is held on the second floor. The choices for both are sufficient for every palate in my opinion. When you are visiting a place for the first time and are doing a lot of walking, it is good to come back to a nice and comfy hotel to rest and recuperate for the next day. Taipei for my family is worth going back to again and again. There is so much more to see, eat and experience. It is a safe city with very courteous and welcoming people. The vibe is very similar to visiting Japan, where you never think twice about personal security. When we come back, we will definitely consider returning to this Hotel.
"like coming home"
Coming back to Howard Plaza Taipei always feels like coming home. It’s familiar, comfortable, and plush without being wildly luxurious. This was our third stay in a Rosewood Junior Suite, which is spacious and tastefully decorated. Everything is in good shape and in working order with L’Occitane bath products adding a touch of class. We arrived early in the morning after a long flight, and were very appreciative that they had a room ready for us. Our room rate included breakfast, and there is a Western buffet on the second floor and a Chinese buffet on the first floor. Maybe it was due to New Year but the Western buffet restaurant seemed busy and hectic, food was not refilled quickly, and staff seemed harried and stressed. We gave up on getting eggs cooked to order since there was always a line at the egg station. After half our stay, we moved to the Chinese breakfast, which was much more relaxed and serene. While it didn’t have a great selection of Western dishes, there were enough, and the much nicer ambiance made it the better choice. For guests staying in Rosewood rooms like us, the Rosewood Club on the top floor is a nice area for afternoon coffee and cookies, or pre-dinner drinks. It also offers breakfast but we did not try it. Hotel staff were invariably friendly and helpful. Especially the lobby staff always greet guests with a smile and greatly contribute to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. While our room rate was not cheap at USD255 per night (probably due to New Year), we enjoyed our stay and will return.
