Over Paradee Resort & Spa

"Another fantastic visit to paradise"
Had a fantastic 3 nights celebrating our sons 10 birthday and my parents visit from UK Staff can't do enough to accommodate your needs - we had balloons and streamers on bed and an excellent private barbecue outside our beach villa in the evening Resort is well maintained and beach / rooms all lovely. Weather was perfect, staff excellent and beach so beautiful - not to forget the wonderful sunsets Look forward to our next visit
"White- Sand Beach Paradise"
I've been to Thailand multiple times, and all over. But nothing hits the heart like this place. Amazing people on a medium-sized island. Gorgeous white sanded beach thats in a small cove, and it's private. Water is a talented blue that reflects the sunlight. Relaxing there in the sun is amazing. You can also rent snorkelling gear (I loved skin diving around the water, swimming down and following the schools of bait fish that swirled around me. Just beautiful. Owner was a great man who loved kids (I'm 14 and was nice to my brother too who is 16). When we arrived, the entire staff was awaiting or arrival. Very kind. The hotel will also organize dive trips, fishing trips, and boat rides. You actually have to take a boat to get there from the mainland, which I love. The rooms are also just amazing. Bathrooms are huge! Comfy beds and fresh fruit in the small living room when you walk through the door. The rooms have small pools that are fun to relax in. The food is amazing, and dinner is offered on the beach. I love it so much. Feeling the cool sand between your toes and eating some amazing food (not sure how to spell it, but Sam Tum is a thai salad and amazing here!) Now for town. Taxis are pricey and you cannot walk. What do you do? Rent a moped! Renting this little scooters was one of the best parts. Zipping around the island was so much fun. There's a local beach not too far away- they have banana boats and jet skis. Overall, this place is beautiful and perfect. Love it for families, couples, and so much more!
"Beautiful, luxury getaway"
The Paradee consists of 40 bungalows discretely laid out in beautifully kept gardens within natural forest. The private beach of sugar sand is just the right size for the hotel and there never seemed to be more than just a few people on it. The beach facilities include kayaks, catamaran and snorkeling gear. The rooms are thatched bungalows with little decked gardens with a jacuzzi/small pool, tables and chairs. The rooms are beautifully appointed with a small lounge area with fresh fruit every day. A walk to the beach takes two minutes for most rooms. The breakfast is excellent and you can have just about what you want. There is no wait for service - just a look and someone is there to help you. We tried the Thai breakfast menu sometimes - just ask for it. It made an interesting change. We didn't have lunch. Our appetites were lower in the heat. However you get fresh fruit at 1pm, ice cream at 2pm and tea/coffee, small sandwiches and cakes at 3pm served to you on the beach!! We had dinner on the beach where most guests did. The hotel put on some 'special' kitchen on the beach each night (BBQ, Thai, Stir fry, etc). Often we found this too much as a fixed price menu (and expensive) but you can just have the 'a la carte' menu. We found this better. Important Note: all prices have 10% service charge added then VAT at 7%. This can come as a bit of a shock when you thought you knew what you were going to pay. Food quality was very good and comprehensive. The service across the hotel is five star provided by delightful staff who are friendly, attentive and helpful. The manager (Pornthep?) is excellent. He is always there at breakfast to speak to every guest and welcomes comment and suggestions. With others, we suggested a happy hour at the sundown bar and a couple of days later a two hour happy hour appeared! The great thing about him is his accessibility and openness. We hope his company recognises his excellence. The Paradee is at the tip of Ko Samet and there is nothing nearby. You can't walk along the beach to another bar or restaurant. If you want some more life you need to go the shanty town that is Sai Kieuw. That is a great lively place where backpackers still hangout and there is live music and a brilliant fire dance. You can eat well cheaply at a lots of beach restaurants. However a taxi from the Paradee will cost you 500 Baht each way! For the less than 5 mile journey in Thailand this is outrageous. Apparently there is an unhealthy monopoly on the island. (Mafia was a word we heard). The more people you go with however, the cheaper. The flatbed truck taxis will easily take a dozen people! Otherwise for two it costs £25 for a return taxi fare. In summary, this is the dream getaway place. If you want peace and quiet in paradise surroundings with excellent service yet without the stuffiness or awkwardness of some luxury hotels then this is the place for you. We had a wonderful 10 days here and consider it one of the best places we have ever stayed at.
"One of the most relaxing hotels we have visited"
If you want peace and quiet and are happy with staying in a wonderful resort this is the place in Thailand for you! It is a superb hotel with the wonderful beaches and easy options of snorkelling and swimming. The food and drink is of a high standard and the service is excellent. From the arrival by speedboat to departure the hotel cannot be faulted. You feel like a millionaire. The manager is excellent and is there checking everything is ok. Sunset cocktails and dinner on the beach are just some of the highlights. The rooms are excellent and well maintained.
"Wonderful setting, lovely resort"
I would have given this five stars but for a couple of experiences. It's a really lovely hotel that nestles over the neck of a narrowing of the Island. This means there's a sunrise beach (white, fine sand... pure silica and pure heaven) and a sunset beach (bar, comfy seating, tables, jetty). Buggies are there to ferry you around the site and the staff were absolutely outstanding, though we had a very odd experience with one of the reception staff when we were leaving. The rooms are gorgeous, the pool is absolutely lovely, the beach is like being inside a picture postcard and there never seem to be more than a few people around... you can snorkel, kayak, fish, dive... or just relax and get the sand between your toes. Food is served on the beach in the evening. (I think it's also served in the restaurant but we thought the beach was much nicer!) The barbecues are fantastic, but in general the food was far too Westernised for my taste. We took a cab into town one night when we discovered that it was going to be beef stroganoff and cream of chicken in a white wine sauce... It seems really weird to fly all the way from the UK and get Western food. We ordered off the a la carte one night, but it wasn't that special. On the last day, we went to pay our extras at reception. It's an island, so signal is sometimes dodgy. The receptionist made us put card after card through the machine - none of them worked and he kept saying we had to contact our banks, it was a problem with our accounts. We tried 6 different cards. We knew our cards were good, he wouldn't believe that there was a problem with signal and he went deliberately more and more slowly through the process. He was really supercilious and it made us both cross and uncomfortable. He refused to believe that it was a problem until he finally put his own card through the system and it was also refused. We then had to fill in a form to say they could take the payment later, and when I asked for a copy of the form, he took 10 minutes to give us a photocopy. They also need to deal with the wildlife around the sunset bar. A small furry creature with a long tail ran across my lap one evening... it's a good thing I'm not phased by rodents. I told the barman. Then I told the reception. I don't believe the barman told reception. And then I KNOW that reception never told the manager who was very pro-active and on hand to hear about experiences of the clientele - both good and bad. We really really loved our days here, it's a truly magical place, but there is something they need to improve. Reception. The manager seemed to really really care and the rest of the staff are FABULOUS.
