"Luxury Escape - not quite there yet"

My wife and daughter went to this resort in November 2016. This is their feedback - Staff were attentive and tried very hard to accommodate us, we paid extra to upgrade to a pool room which was great. We were on a 'luxury escapes' package and were disappointed to find that meant limited menus and dining choices for lunch and evening food. We both became seriously sick from the food; just as a note there is no hospital at Khao Lak (the doctor is available in the evening). The resort is a long way out of town and there was only one Thai restaurant at the resort so if you want a more authentic Thai experience you might consider staying elsewhere. Overall, we wouldn't recommend the 'luxury escapes' package mainly due to the limited selection and quality of food.

"Nice but a little worn"

The hotel is beautifully situated on the Pak Weep beach, a long wonderful coral sand beach where waves keep rolling in. This is a large resort and I'm sure there can be a lot of differences depending on where you're staying. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was nice and spacious but did have some issues with humidity. There was always this somewhat awkward smell, perhaps of mold. The cleaning staff tried to hide it by lighting scented candles... The hotel has several restaurants, but they're all comparitively expensive - the beach restaurants are close by and cost a third though, so it's not a major issue. Keep in mind that this hotel is located about 10 mins away from Khay Lak center - it's not walking distance. All in all this is a very nice hotel, but it doesn't fully live up to its five stars.

"Beautiful Villas"

We stayed here last January in a garden pool villa and it was perfect. This year we booked again through Luxury Escapes but that room was not offered. On arrival shown to our pool villa which consisted of a similar size room with the pool tucked between two concrete walls on the side - definitely not what we were expecting. Further to that it was on a corner without privacy from passers by with chit chat going on all the time. The next day we managed to move to a more private room but still with the same style pool. To upgrade we were quoted approx $150 per day on top of the $100 per day original upgrade and $100 for seasonal surcharge Things were becoming VERY pricey. Overall the resort is beautiful but overrun with children which is not policed as they have large children's pools and play area. People seem to think that everybody loves their children jumping and screaming around the pools. I know there is an adults pool but most of the time all chairs were taken by people feeling the same as us. Also the adults only pool is at the very far end of the resort away from the villas. The hotel management should at least make the pool adjacent to the terrace restaurant a quiet area (if not adults only). The resort is beautifully landscaped and I believe the old rooms are being renovated later this year by the new management but the pool villas are beautiful and well minted. In answer to Pullman leaving the resort we were only told a day or so before so we would have been extremely upset if we were using Accor for meals/drinks etc. As Platinum Accor members we have never been offered anything either stay. The hotel was not interested.

"we enjoyed our vacation at this resort"

Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya November 18 to 23, 2016 we were accommodated in deluxe room No.379, it is a very large room with a King Size Bed, slept well here, clean Bedlinen, room is nicely furnished, has a sitting area, Mini Bar, in room safe, the resort provides slippers, an Iron board with Iron , hairdryer, and bathrobe, a coffee maker, a large flat TV screen by Sony. You also will have access to free Wi-Fi. This room has a balcony with chairs and table , a garden view, with a tiny view of the adult pool only, a very quiet area. The bathroom is large with a separate Tub and Shower, ( a very large Shower head ) magnifying mirror, nice amenities, with clean towels. the Toilet seat should be replaced it has ugly yellow stains. On two days the room was not made up till 2:00 PM which is rather late and inconvenient. Furthermore the Resort has Tennis Courts, a Fitness Program, a Gym, a nice beach ( Pak Weep Beach ) especially at low tide than the beach is really wide, many swimming pools, lush landscaping. The Restaurant ( Café Lilawadee ) where they serve Breakfast is very nice with outdoor seating, Breakfast is terrific with many Western and Asian dishes, good service and plenty to eat. There is a restaurant down by the Beach with direct Ocean views including sunset views. Altogether there are 6 restaurants on the property. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The resort is well maintained, check in was very smooth by a trainee from the Philippines ( Anne ) she took as to the guest room which is a rather long walk from the Lobby since the Resort is really huge. Outside the Hotel where the entrance gate is locate, turn right, there you will find two Mini Markets, the Bell-staff will drive you via Golf cart to the entrance. We stayed for 5 nights and were very pleased & enjoyed our stay and would return without any hesitation.

"Perfect 10"

The best beach resort I have ever been to so far. The territory of the hotel is huge and impressive - several big swimming pools, separate areas for kids, ponds with fish, fountains, sculptures, recreational areas. The premises are impeccably well maintained, the gardeners deserve the highest praise for their work. It was an immense pleasure just to walk the hotel's paths surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. The hotel also features a rainforest garden with different trees and animals like deers, squirrels, birds, which was a very pleasant place to walk around either. Initially I booked a deluxe room via Accor Hotel application, but at check-in I was offered an upgrade to a Garden Pool Villa for being an AccorHotels loyalty program member. And I mean, that's some real upgrade! This was a very pleasant surprise especially due to the fact that the owners of the resort decided to exit Accor group and drop the name Pullman on January 6th and my check-in was on January 5th. The villa was absolutely amazing. Wonderful design and interiors. Huge room with all the necessary amenities, enormous and extremely comfortable bed, amazing bathroom with two sinks, a bath and a shower cabin. Room service was amazing either - everything delivered as soon as possible, good cleaning and care for the guests was all there. The main feature of the villa was a proprietary swimming pool. About five meters long it allowed excellent swimming without having to go to one of the many common big swimming pools. The pool and sun beds were surrounded by trees and bushes, so basically it felt like we were living in our own house amidst the resort. The breakfast in the Terrace restaurant was a truly amazing buffet providing a big variety of different delicious foods. I must say the restaurants on the territory of the hotel are all worth visiting, except probably Bamboo Bar, its cuisine didn't impress us at all. The best restaurant on the territory is Baan Thai, which serves excellent dishes of Thai cuisine and has great ambiance and interior as well. The place is rightfully popular so it is recommended to book a table there in advance. The hotel is located in a very peaceful area to the north of Khao Lak at a long and marvelously picturesque beach. Walking on this wonderful beach both to the right and to the left (when the tide was low) from the hotel was just great - enjoying the views of the sea and the trees, white sand, breathing fresh air. The beach lacks different mass entertainment activities, no speedboats in the sea, no loud music, no annoying salespeople, just several nice cafes and massage parlors. So for the nature and peace lovers the hotel's location is just perfect. The sea by the way is very warm and not shallow so it's really great for swimming. It is recommended though to avoid swimming near the rocks to the left side of the beach as you might be stung by the sea lice there. Also there's a high risk of encountering a jelly fish, which would not be a pleasant thing either. The areas totally safe for swimming are marked with buoy ropes. The water in the sea is very clean although not clear at times due to several rivers flowing in the sea in this area. Should you wish to go to the center of Khao Lak you could book a shuttle bus from the hotel for 100 THB or get a taxi outside of the hotel for 300 THB. The taxis are always stationed there. I also recommend you to try the hotel's SPA, which is very nice. On the territory there are also several gyms. To sum up the hotel offers unmatched possibilities for rest and relaxation. Huge territory with different areas for various activities, excellent long breathtakingly beautiful beach, wonderful restaurants - you may easily stay in this hotel for a week without even a slightest urge to go out anywhere. Couple that with excellent service and generally affordable prices and you would get an idea how a perfect place to recharge your batteries should be like. I don't know whether the exit of the hotel from Accor group would affect the price level or quality in the future, but I would definitely like to come again to this wonderful place and check it out myself someday.
