"Beautiful setting"

We fell in love with the location as soon as the speedboat turned into the hotel. It's absolutely stunning. The sea was calm as we arrived so the jetty wasn't a problem and it was easy to cross. It did get quite exciting on days when the sea wasn't so calm but there's always loads of staff to guide you and to instruct when to walk or stop. You might get wet! Don't worry - you don't have to carry your cases across! We weren't able to check in until 3 despite arriving at around 12.30, but no worries-we were able to get towels and go to the beach and pool and relax while we waited. There's a lovely shower to freshen up in the Deep Blue toilets downstairs if your room still isn't ready. So, make sure you pack swimming stuff and some shorts in your hand luggage so you don't get stressed out with the wait. When we got to our rooms we were stunned once again by how amazing the view was. We had two adjoining ocean facing spa deluxe rooms. The balcony was massive with two sunbeds and a jacuzzi for each room (which we used a lot when the heavy rain came). We caught the speedboat a couple of times to go to Ao Nang and also used the Monkey Trail which was fine (took around 15 mins). We also walked round the headland when the tide was low, but that obviously wasn't always possible. There's a 7 eleven in the town where you can pick up bottles of soft drinks or beer for the times when you want to chill out on the balcony. The breakfast buffet was lovely. A good choice with lots of fresh food which was topped up regularly. For our evening meal we ate in Ao Nang a couple of times to keep the cost down, but our favourite place to eat was On The Rocks at the hotel. It was beautiful sitting out watching the sunset over the sea. The food was good and the service excellent. We also ate at Lotus Court for their Surf and Turf BBQ night. It might seem quite expensive at first sight, but there was lobster, crab, huge mussels, steak, etc. A lovely meal. We also ate at the Thai restaurant which also had great service and food. The beach and pool areas are fantastic. So many beds on both the beach and by the pool. The beach isn't crowded at all. We used the kayaks and paddleboards which were free for one hour per day. Only problems: We had a problem with our air con on the first night and had to ring down a few times as it kept switching off. In the end the manager came up himself to fix it. Great service! Our only other problem was on the balcony one day when a group of monkeys passed by while we were sitting on it. One of them jumped on my nine yr old son who was just sitting on the sunbed. We think the monkey was just interested in looking at the IPad! He cut his skin on his back which shook him up a bit. The medical centre on site cleared it up for him. Nothing anyone could do about it (the hotel is in the monkeys' home) but just take care when the monkeys do come visiting! We've arrived home today after an amazing week at the hotel. Missing it already! I would definitely return. Absolutely loved it there.

"Very rude staff"

Dear Sir, I just checked in at your hotel at 7.30 pm, and at the reception your person has Copied both sides of my credit card without my knowledge and permission. I have blocked security deposit as per your hotel rules. I do not know why Centara needs to copy my CVV number which is totally wrong and some one could easily misuse this card. If you needed my card details it could be provided but copying the card with all security details is not legal. How do I know if someone from your hotel will misuse it. Further my luggage was delivered after 5 reminders although I had identified it while going to room. It has taken them 45 minutes to deliver it at 8.30 pm. We had to walk the monkey trail to reach the hotel after reaching Ao Nang Pier from Phi Phi. We were already tired and after that your staff was very very rud. I need better services after paying this amount for booking. Vineshkumar

"Family holiday"

We stayed here for 2 weeks, really enjoyable, relaxing holiday. Loved the location for the privacy and safety it offered. On the rocks bar staff were amazing particularly Peaw and Joy, who went above and beyond for all of us particularly our daughter. Lotus court ( unfortunately I lost the names) evening staff were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and the food was absolutely delicious, every time and we ate there most nights. Followed by a great cocktail or 2 in the Blu bar Jonny made the best cosmos!! It was our daughters birthday whilst we were here Lotus court and On the Rocks made it very special for her cannot thank the staff enough. Our room was cleaned everyday to a high standard the cleaner was cheerful and polite. The only reason I can't give the resort 5 stars is due to the accessibility. We were led to believe that the boat shuttle service would be easy to use. At no point did anyone at the time of booking in inform us we needed to book the boat service there or back, so we left the resort walking the monkey trail in the day, which took a long time as our daughter is afraid of heights. We naively thought we could go to the boat point and be able to get the boat back, it was then we discovered we had to book. My husband phoned the hotel to see if we could get back on the boat and we were informed no as the boat service was not running due to the bad weather. We were left with no option but to walk the monkey trail in the dark. It needs to be clearer that the boat shuttle service needs booking both out and in and when it is not running due to weather conditions (as we are appreciative that we stayed during the monsoon season). Overall a great experience and we would consider coming back at some point in the future.

"Unique and special place!"

We stayed in Centara Grand Krabi hotel in March 2017. You arrive at the hotel in a truly James Bond style - a motorboat takes you to the resort and you disembark on the floating pier! I was rather worried about the practicality of it but despite fairly big waves that day (monsoon season) and arriving at dusk - it was quite exciting! The staff take care of your luggage from when you board the boat, which is really helpful. You will find your cases in your room as you would expect from this standard of a hotel. You are greeted by very courteous staff and given a welcome drink. We paid for a deluxe room so we were taken to a separate Club Lounge and checked in there. We were very happy with the room which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Bathrobes, slippers etc. The bed was huge and amazingly comfy, the bathroom had both rain shower and bath, good make up mirror, nice toiletries, and outside was a spacious terrace and a Jacuzzi. In the morning, day after our arrival, we have woken up to the most breathtaking view! It is worth to stay in this place for that experience alone! The hotel is situated in the national park, surrounded by grand rocks and the jungle. Yes, monkeys do swing from the trees and occasionally run into the resort - but it adds to the charm and uniqueness of the place. We had a cheeky monkey sneaking into our room and stealing the M&Ms from the fridge - then shutting the fridge door behind itself! Totally our fault, we left the room open whilst enjoying the outside jacuzzi. It was really funny, as the creature smugly 'paraded' in front of us as we sat in the bath! We loved the breakfasts in the main area, and had light lunch in the Club Lounge and drinks - this was so lovely, I really recommend, great value, lovely snacks and drinks! We dinned both in town and in the hotel. We recommend a trip to Krabi Night market - it was amazing. Some people complain or have concerns that it's not easy to come out of the resort and I suppose if you don't like/can't climb ladders, steep steps aka go via the Monkey Trail then you just need to get organised with the boats - you simply book them at reception ahead of the journey time. If you're fit and can do the trail - just wear good sandals/shoes (not flip-flops!) - this way brings you closer to town. If you go by boat you will need to take a tuk tuk to the main street - which is pretty cool and cheap way to travel anyway. There are some amazing restaurants in Ao Nang with a sea view - we had some fantastic meals there, very inexpensive. There is a bar 'Deep' in the resort and that was the only bit I didn't like (it was a bit empty). The beach was very pleasant, so was the pool area - great place to soak up the studding island views! We took a kayak one day and this was a lot of fun. In asia, I prefer to swim in the pools to the open waters because of jelly fish, and the pool was never too busy. You will not be disappointed if you decide to stay in Centara Grand - this hotel is beautifully located in the national park, offers a quiet retreat in Ao Nang and offers it all with the famous Thai hospitality - a truly unique experience! You wont be disappointed!

"Great property, not so great staff."

So this resort is actually isolated from the city. From the airport you take a cab to a national park then after a waiting period of 30-45mins you will be transfered to the resort via speedboat. The ride is a bumpy one. They drop at a floating bridge, which moves with the waves. If you're alone it's fun, if you have kids then it's a bit scary. Reception: So we reached at 1130am, surprisingly there was no option for early check-in. We had to wait till 3pm with an 18month infant. The hotel staff casually told us to have a look around till 3. We have been traveling for the past 12hours so the three of us were really tired. (Filght to Bangkok then Krabi then taxi ride for 1hour then wait for 45mins then a boatridethen that floating bridge). The staff at the reception we're pretty rude unless you're from Europe or USA. Room: So finally we get the room at 1430. The room is just awesome with superb views of the ocean and mountain. Nothing to complain. Room service/House keeping: We've been to other resorts as well where the room service people are like ghosts. You just won't know when they came and cleaned your room, here they are just like humans. At times the room was not cleaned even after putting the clean my room sign. And please be cautious with valuables. If you are not in room keep everything in the locker safe. I kept my Samsung Gear S3 watch on the table for all three days as I did not wear it, at the time of packing I could not find my watch. I'm pretty sure housekeeping stole it. I informed the reception, they were least interested and said if we find it we will let you know via email by afternoon as I was checking out. That email never came. So take care of your belongings. Food: The food is ok and manageable. Prices are also ok. Tours: The hotel provides number of tours. But the major drawback is you need to take a boat Everytime you want to leave the resort. And the weather was not so great, the waves were very high so boat could not be used. There's another option Monkey trail. Monkey trail: It's a series of wooden steps along the sea against the mountain. So a lot of climbing. Again if you're alone it's adventurous, if you have kids it's pretty tiring as you have to carry them all the way. Checkout: At the time of checkout the added 2000baht in my bill as transfer. After a lot of arguments and talking to my agent it was taken off the bill but this behavior is way too unprofessional and lazy. Summary: The property is probably the best but lacks quality staff, very irresponsible and lazy except for a handful. Another downside is the boatride. If given a chance would not go back again.
