"You won't be disappointed "
I stayed at the Kamala Beach Resort for two weeks returning on 23 March 2017. This is my second visit and I remain impressed with this hotel. As an adults only hotel you are guaranteed a quite stay. I stayed in a room in the beach wing, it was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed. My room 1108 was near to the beach, two of the pools next to the beach, the Lobby Bar and the a la carte restaurant. Although this is a large hotel going to reception took less than five minutes to get to and this was the furthest away from my room. My room was kept spotlessly clean by the house maid, who also ensured she put on the air conditioning so when I returned to my room early evening it was nice and cool. The staff are friendly, attentive & very polite and will go out of their way to help you any way they can and take the time to chat to you and make you feel welcome and a valued customer. Leak and Tom from the Lobby Bar are amazing, they remember what you drink and are there to hand you you favourite tipple without you even having to ask. Mark does a fantastic job managing the pools and ensuring that no one reserves their sun beds before 10.30am. Mark is always smiling and every day asked me if I wanted a cold drink and sorted me out an iced coffee before the bar opened. Thank you Mark Alan is a shining star he took the Thai cookery and fruit carving lessons, he is such a good teacher and really funny, so if you get the chance do at least one of the lessons as you won't regret it and every time you think of it it will put a smile on your face. Alan is also brilliant in his main job and I miss him already calling me ' Mum Karen' ' How are you Mum Karen'. The food in the a la carte is delicious, Prawns, squid and steak come as standard if you are part of the all inclusive. Thai curries are amazing, as is the service and House wines. You won't go hungry in this hotel, breakfast 6.30- 10.30am lunch 11.30 - 5.00pm evening 6.30pm. There is also a mini mart open 7-11 so if you are inclined to get a few snacks just in case or if you are not all inclusive then you can stock up here without going out of the hotel. Just along the beach and across a bridge is Kamala Village, with plenty of shops selling most things. In the evening there are plenty of food stalls. As a Saga guest I had a warm welcome from Tom, the resident Saga Rep. Tom is so accommodating, knowledgable and informative. I asked to change rooms and he sorted it out and also helped me in removing the hangers with my clothes on and re-hanging in the new room. As a solo Traveller I felt assured that Tom was there to look after me and he certainly did. If you are considering a trip to Kamala Beach as a Saga guest I think you will be pretty taken by Tom, as Reps go he is a hard one to beat. There are lots of other good things about this hotel that I haven't written about but it deserves its 4 star rating and well worth a visit. I am looking to return again, I can't fault the hotel, it is well managed and doesn't disappoint.
"Good hotel but maybe few tweaks needed"
Outward flights were a 36 hour nightmare with pilot attempting to land at Doha for an hour in a thunderstorm. After this pepsi-max roller coaster experience with many passengers in tears with fear, we diverted to Bahrein to sit on the plane for 2 hours. The storm passed and Doha airport reopened. We hopped over to Doha only to find our connecting flight had left without us. Qatar airways were excellent and put us up overnight (well for 5 hours) in a hotel. We left Doha for Phuket next morning after 4 hours of much appreciated sleep. Despite e-mailing and trying to phone our transfer provider in Phuket (no-one answers the phone at 2am?!!) no-one met us at the airport so we had to get a taxi for 700 baht (£17 ish) to the resort. No refund was forthcoming. Hotel good generally. Brilliant location on the beach near the Tsunami monument from 12.2004. Swim up bars and pool bars are very good and cocktails are all freshly made. Hotel food is pretty good generally and not overpriced. Cocktails are 150 baht (£3.60). The hotel has a Thai buffet evening each week with a ladyboy show which is worth seeing. Other evenings there’s a trio singing in English in one of the 2 restaurants. The restaurant by the pool varies its offerings between Thai buffet, Italian and Tex Mex. Generally though evening entertainment is low key. By 10 pm not that many guests are still up and about. Not sure if that’s down to the fact that the hotel has many Saga Guests. All surfaces and areas are well maintained and cleaned regularly by the very friendly and polite staff. Rooms were fine and kept very clean but some are in need of a facelift now with discoloured grouting and occasional damp mould in the tiling. Had to ask for the shower curtain to be changed because it smelt but was done immediately. On the downside we spotted one or two cockroaches around and there are definitely some rats which operate mainly after dark. Between the pool restaurant and the corridor leading to the restaurant by the sea there is an alleyway about 15 metres long where you literally need to hold your breath because the smell there is so bad every day. Wouldn’t like to speculate what it’s caused by. The screen between the bathroom and bedroom is see through which means there is no privacy in the bathroom. Could be solved easily by a roller blind. The beach, sea and scenery are spectacular if you can find room amongst the Thai massagers, Chinese couples getting married every 15 metres, beach vendors, water sport offerings, long tail boat rides etc. We went on a boat trip to various islands (Phi Phi, James Bond, Monkey island and the island where they filmed ‘The Beach’ with Leonardo di Caprio). Expect literally hundreds of people and boats on these beauty spots and be careful with the monkeys, they bite and rumour has it they may be rabid. Phuket generally is very busy and traffic is a nightmare. Kamala Beach is comparatively quiet compared to the mayhem that is Patong. If you venture out of the hotel, be prepared for Thai massage and tailors’ shops everywhere with plenty of badgering when you walk down the street. Every bar has its own bar girls. If you take a young family to Thailand you may find it difficult explaining what these girls do!! If you like wine it’s very expensive in the restaurants. Expect to pay £20 a bottle. Ordering food in smaller restaurants can be interesting. Generally menu choices come with a number and a picture. Even so, don’t be surprised if you get something you hadn’t ordered. If you get a taxi expect the driver to not know where you are going or to speak very little English. He or she will then get their moby out to load up the sat nav app whilst continuing to drive. That happened to us on 4 out of 5 taxi journeys. Tuc tucs are more fun but there’s no seat belts and very loud music. Everyone has a moped which usually carries at least 4 passengers, sometimes more! Crossing the road is interesting to say the least. Pavements, when they exist, are usually health and safety nightmares and certainly not for the disabled.
My wife and I stayed a week in the end of February at this place. Very good and nice place. "Wonderful hotel for adults with excellent personnel!"
Our trip and stay at Kamala Beach Resort (adults only) all inclusive took place from 05.02 -18.02.2017y. The organization has been arranged with representatives Neckermenn Danijel Petkovic (big hello and thank you!) from Thomas Cook and many thanks to all included for your hard work and important information. In their organization was my wife and I on two trips and each highly recommend their tour to the excursions. Representative from Neckermann met us at the airport in Phuket where we transferred to our hotel with taxi and everything is well organized. A small roundabout in front of the hotel and the lobby is decorated in Thai style, all is well marked and the reception is immediately on the right. From the first moment we fell in love in the friendly hotel personnel and after a brief registration offered us a welcome drink (2 times). Many thanks for the reception of the hotel. We got the password for WiFi that works well in the whole area of hotel, including the beach. Praises! Again we were surprised by our promoter and we got a free upgrade to a junior suite room - I'll tell you the rooms were simply furnished (perhaps a little too dark), but with all necessary equipment and accessories, a bedroom junior suite is large (66 m2) and spacious. The room contains a large balcony with table and chairs, a king size bed, sofa bed, flat TV 32 ", 2 cooling devices (1 large and one small), iron and ironing board, large bath, hair dryer, mirror and usually increase, safe, toiletries, slippers, bathrobes, midi refrigerator with everyday adding water, towels. The hotel has 4 swimming pools, which are filled with fresh water, and at first there is a cottage for towels, which are big, thick and soft. Near the reception area are mini market and the doctor. The two pools have bars in water, and one has with the pool bar (restaurant on the beach). We offer a variety of beverages, soft, and alcoholic mixes that are used by 12:00h. The second pool bar is open until 22:00, so we oftten used this service. There are two restaurants side by swimming pools and others along the beach and enjoy breakfast on both of 06:30-10:30, lunch 11:30-17:00 at the restaurant by the beach, and dinner from 18:00-22:00 - restaurant on the beach and 18:30-21:30 - restaurant at the pool (great layout). Every day for breakfast was a buffet, a lunch menu that they are very diverse, thematic dinner that changes, the classic thai menu and combination of European, Italian, Mexican and other cuisines. Praise to the great food at the variety, freshness, quantity and quality (big +). Fans of fruit and sweet that will be able to choose fresh fruits and various pastries, very nice. We like to use the restaurant on the beach because you are only a few steps from the beautiful, long, wide sandy beach of Kamala. The sea, beach and the sand is clean, sand contains a dark grain and can be hot for walking. In the beginning of vacation, we had two days more waves, but then the wind calmed down and we had a calm sea. Be aware of the sun, because it is strong and can fool you that the cloud you're protected, be sure to use sunscreen (sometimes on the surface sea looks like emulsion, but quickly cleared). Sea and beaches are very clean and well see the bottom of the sea and without a mask for diving. One guideline for diving, right on the beach Kamala you will see the best tropical fish if you go to the northern part of the beach where the stone coast. Bring bread or similar foods as soft, enter the depth of 1-1.5m, crumble the bread and you will have the experience to swim in the right tank, something wonderful!! Users can take advantage of Hotel transportation services by bus (wooden benches) and for 150 TBH that you take a day to Patong and back, and on the evening of 200 TBH to Patong and back (the ride takes 20-25min.). In summary, a very nice and maintained hotel with a great and warm pools, recreation (in the pool, gym hall, health club), excellent food and drinks, and special congratulations to the friendly personnel - a great greeting to our maids and staff especially for Yo, Thania and especially Ple - big kiss. We recommend Hotel Kamal who left us in such a good memory, a big thank you to all staff at the hotel. Kobkun ka.
Returned after 2 years with my husband for a relaxing holiday and it couldn't been better! It started right at the Airport, we booked transfer and our driver was already waiting for us. I asked, if possible, to stay in the same wing as on previous stay, and they went a step further. We stayed on the same room (deluxe pool view) and found a nice Welcome Back note and a fruit plate. The room is very spacious and comfortable, there's a living area and a nice balcony, where we could sit in the evening. Bathroom is also spacious. All areas very clean. Location is unbeatable, right on the beach! There are sun lounges and umbrellas available for renting. There are 4 pools and plenty of sun lounges. The pools are sun warmed, and it can get very warm! Was great to have a swim and a cocktail on the pool bar! This time only went to the restaurant by the Sea, which offers good variety of Thai food and prices are very similar to the restaurants around Kamala. Breakfast offers, as well, plenty of good choices. If you feel like having a snack, there is a convenience store. Also ATM is available in the resort. The only negative.. was only for 1 week! We'll keep coming back as much as possible! It's a very happy place!
