"Great but room for improvement "
I stayed at this hotel in November 2016 having stayed in other hotels (notably the mina al Salam next door) in Dubai. Our arrival at the hotel could have been better, check in took around 25 mins due to low staffing on reception, normally this wouldn't bother me but just coming off a night flight we were exhausted. People skip to the front of the queue and staff see this happening and do nothing, it's very stressful. We had a room on the 4th floor, well maintained and spacious. Unfortunately our room was directly above the Dow and anchor pub so it was very noisy every night until around 2am- not ideal when you are here for a relaxing break. The room was kept clean and tidy throughout our stay and our service man was very friendly and accommodating. Pool service was great, never an issue getting a seat and good service for drinks and food. Beach however was appalling myself and my partner (who is 5 months) pregnant walked up and down the beach for around 15 mins trying to get someone to help us get a space. Each staff member we approached told us to go elsewhere- this doesn't happen at other hotels in Dubai- normally as soon as you step foot on the beach someone finds you a space and sets you up with a space. Drinks service on the beach also very slow- I would stick to the pool in future. We ate in latitude, the steakhouse on the 24th floor, beachcomers and Dow and anchor - food all amazing. We didn't drink alcohol so can't comment but I think it is very expensive. We booked spa treatments and these were lovely but we were told contradicting information when booking so we arrived late, unnecessary stress again. Lastly check out was the same as check in- we checked out on a Friday which is a busy day. No one arrived for our bags so we had to carry them down ourselves, check out then took about half an hour due to the queues. This hotel needs a more efficient reception but is still a fab hotel and Dubai never really disappoints
"Good hotel with great food and service, but expensive"
We stayed here on our second trip to Dubai, the hotel was great, no complaints there, the black was not that great, in the shadow of another hotel, quite narrow and nothing to do but lay there. Food was excellent, but pricy. service was fantastic, very helpful and friendly. not sure i'd go back, i prefer the JBR area. has it's own, small, waterpark, Wild Wadi, but not as good as the one at the Palm.
"November getaway "
Booked a week as a quick getaway for some November sun,its our second visit to this hotel,we really like nearly everything about this hotel the great location, its beach and pools restaurant choices and friendly and efficient staff, dont really want to add any negatives other than the price of drinks......is it really necessary to charge a minimum of £5 for a bottle of water with your meal, admitted you get complimentary bottles of water (small)in your room don't know why they charge it at dinner, probably because it's served chilled !!!!!! £5 for a small Pepsi,£9pint of lager and £14 for a glass of sparkling wine,do I need to go on....... Having said that we will return to Dubai next year probably to this hotel as we really like it.Would gladly answer any questions anyone has regarding staying at this hotel.
"Still potentially good but now requires better management."
Myself and my husband stayed here mid September 2016. This was our 5th time staying here and we were worried as when we had visited in March 2016 we had been given such a terrible, noisy room on the 4th floor directly over the Dhow and Anchor which is a 'pub'. The worst thing is that they screen sports outside this pub on a large screen so everyone sits outside and cheers and boos and this is nightly until 2am. We complained there in March and were told that all rooms were full so we couldn't be moved. In the club lounge everyone who was that side of the hotel were complaining. I complained afterwards by email and was told to contact the manager on our return. Unfortunately our September trip had been booked and paid for or else we would have gone elsewhere. I tried to contact the hotel in advance of us arriving but to no avail however, my insistence that we be given a high floor room, furthest from the Dhow & Anchor was successful. The club superior rooms are spacious and beautifully laid out with a large dressing table / workdesk next to the window with a mirror and plug sockets. They have a large seating area and a large and comfortable bed. There are robes, reading lights, ample storage, powerful hairdryer and kettle. The bathrooms are luxurious and fully equipped. The showers are powerful and water temp is consistent. There are x2 club lounges. The top floor one is small and allows smoking in a small area but of course this fills the non smoking area! The downstairs one is new and large and very busy most of the time. It has a super childrens playroom and has more choice of food. Breakfast may be taken in the lounge or in one of the breakfast restaurants. The breakfasts are wonderful and Im sure everyone will find something they love. Complimentary soft drinks tea and coffee is served all day. Afternoon tea is served in the club lounge and early evening complimentary alcohol is served with canapés. There is always plenty of food and drink in the evening. The staff in the club lounges are very well trained and constantly and generously top up glasses or fetch more drinks. The best part of the club floor is the use of the executive pool which is worth its weight in gold. Its quieter, well located and has lots of sunbeds in private areas. The exec pool staff supply water, cold towels and lilos as and when you need them. Bliss On checkout it took an HOUR to get our bags down to the waiting car. A very stroppy young man told us that if checkout time is 12 noon then with over 600 rooms we would have to wait. Two things. Firstly we rang for the bag collection at 11am, secondly, other hotels much bigger than Jumeirah Beach manage it every day. During our time here no manager ever approached us to apologise for our abysmal stay in March or to thank us for our continued patronage. This resort is now too busy, too poorly managed and too impersonal for our tastes.
This is my 5th visit to this hotel, never disappoints, the variety of restaurants is excellent, if you like to have a few drinks in the evening booking an ocean premium club room is a must , always worth walking or taking the complimentary trams up to the souk in the next hotel
