"Third time"

It's not cheap to stay here and it is our third time. Disappointed with the room, 127 and 128 , would not get my votes. View of the edge of the garden and the back end of the rooms. No real garden or pool view. Given last time we visited here we had a free upgrade because we were returners we had expectations of the same that weren't forthcoming. We had a pool and garden view last time on the top floor. I had to chase down a coffee machine but that was acted on very promptly. Service is now charged on all bills automatically we have no memory of that being the case previously. Might be wrong but don't think so. Not greeted on our arrival , had to get the cases to the front desk on our own. Service variable at the a la carte lunch deck particularly on Saturday. And waiter service at the sun beds for drinks during the day spasmodic and unreliable. Also all the focus for making up the sun beds is on the beach not round the pool. Room kept very clean. Breakfast service very good and efficient. But felt like less staff and a drop in service at extra cost. Shame. Fabulous positioning in the beach, too many beach beds and too close together , it's a small frontage. But that has always been the case. Security seems higher profile.

"A little different but nice."

We moved here from Oceans Two (O2) on the South Coast because we wanted to stay a week on the calmer side of the island. We LOVED O2 so Colony Club took a little while for us to settle in. We did immediately fall in love with the wonderful King bed.....really comfortable. The Club is also located on a wonderful stretch of beach for long walks in either direction. North to Lone Star and South to past Beach House. Another very nice inclusion are some motorized watersports---water skiing & tube rides plus a fishing trip. CC has an active list of activities to keep guests busy. One of the best compliments about the staff & hotel are the number of returning guests--mostly British--that have been coming here for years. As hotels go the rooms were above average in size and with either patios or porches with loungers---all very nice. The number one drawback that bothered us were the showers----basically tubs with a moveable glass partition. Most resorts now seem to have wonderful rainfall showers with plenty of room. We would also add that CC is very "proper"....everyone was efficient and helpful and courteous...however we were rarely addressed by our names.....only room number. We strive to learn most staff members names and at the O2 we were greeted daily by almost everyone by our first names. We attributed this to a younger, friendlier staff and maybe a few more American guests. We had a wonderful week.....but not sure if we would stay at CC again.

"Beautiful beach"

My husband and I have just returned from the Colony Club having spent an enjoyable and relaxing 9 days there. As a resort it is beautiful and I would recommend it as somewhere to go say for friends of my age group (over 50 ish). We were here in February and they have a no child policy which may well have been the attraction for everyone there (it certainly was for us!). If you have a young family I'm not sure it would be particularly appealing - there is no swimming pool - the lagoon meanders through the grounds - we did not go in it as it was not particularly clean. They do clean it first thing in the morning but it's a losing battle with all the foliage surrounding it. It's not deep either. The beach is spectacular but be warned, if you want a "front row" seat in a sunny spot you will need to "reserve" by about 6.30am or you will be disappointed. As there are only limited spaces in the sunny spot you'd better be quick! I'm guessing the average age of guests was mid 70's but that might well be because you're sort of out of season - nice place to escape the British winter weather. There are plenty of places to eat outside of the hotel - Hole Town is a short taxi ride away. Food prices on the whole errs on the more expensive side - obviously they have to import quite a bit. Fresh fish is fabulous.

"A touch of luxury "

Just returned from our third visit. There are many different types of rooms availability but once again we had a poolside room with direct access from our patio into one of the little waterways that meander along. The various rooms all surround the pool and their beautiful gardens. Just a short walk away from the beach. The beach is fairly shallow with only room for two rows of sunbeds. If you wanted a bed on the beach then regrettably it was necessary to be up early with your towels. There was however plenty of room around the pool and garden which suited us. We went for the option of half board ie breakfast and dinner which was worthwhile as it's not cheap otherwise. The centre of Holetown is about a mile away with plenty of places to eat as an alternative. The food served either in the Restaurant or the Sunset deck was exceptionally good with quite large portions. There was entertainment on most nights which was of a good standard. It says a lot about this hotel that a large of the guests were 'repeats' like us. Highly recommended and no doubt we will go back again.

"Lovely hotel"

Visited here for some relaxation and had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms are set round lovely gardens and there are three pools where you can get some peace and quiet if you wish, as well as the more popular beach sun beds. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Menu choice was very good too, with speciality nights and fairly low-key live music (singers/musicians)in the background while you eat, either under cover or outside on the Sunset Deck. Holetown is a 20-25 minutes walk away and there are other restaurants nearby should you wish to eat elsewhere. Definitely recommend this hotel as a place to stay.
