Villa Cuba

Over Villa Cuba

"It was alright!!!!!"

   24-02-2017
We arrived at 300am. Checkin was fast and easy as there was just us and a couple of girls ( who we hung out with all week). The hotel itself is good. Lots of stairs and the elevators don't always work! The pool- was great! Always could find a chair for 4 people! Water was little cold but it was refreshing on a hot day! The room- we stayed in a villa! It was basically right on the beach which was nice and right beside the beach bar and snack shop. It was a little bit of walk to the hotel but that was ok! We had asked to be on second floor but got the bottom. We had ants in our room. My husband would lay in bed and kill em. We also asked for a villa with a pool :( didn't get it. We didn't have hot water for the first few days but after going to the front desk it was fixed fast! Beach- absolutely beautiful! I like that our villa was right there! A few steps out the door in the am and I was laying on the beach! There was always beach chairs! Food- buffet was ok. We always found something to eat! Breakfast only goes till 10 which sucked! Made breakfast on twice. Snack shop at pool was good, as was the snack shop at beach. Drinks- rum punch is good anywhere in Cuba lol all drink were good! Try the sangria..... It'll knock you on you butt lol Coffee bar- always received great service 🙌🏽 The people that work here depend on tips! We always tip and have had great service at all other resorts we have stayed in Cuba ( this was our 4th time to Cuba in 5 years) not so much the case here. Especially the buffet! We had to get our own drinks and cutlery! Which whatever but there was times I just wanted a beer or wine. Even at these times my husband would tip when we left the buffet! I put an end to that! Front desk was excellent as we're all others bars and facilities! It's only a short walk into varadero which appealed to us as we like to head into town to eat and for the nightlife! 15 mins max! We walked to town and back several times. On a side note...... Out bracelets said las morals which is the resort next door?!? Which was weird!! So one night we went and walked through it....... It was a lot nicer! Smaller too! All in all we enjoyed Cuba again and made some fabulous friends!!!! We are complainers so I tried to be as bias as I could! Ciao!!!

"Great Stay at a Lovely Resort!"

   24-02-2017
A friend and I stayed at this resort for one week and have nothing but good things to say! I stayed in room 1202 in the main building that overlooks the pool. It was renovated and comfortable. It had a king sized bed with great pillows and the water in the shower was always hot with great water pressure! I had a small issue with the bathroom ceiling leaking, but it was fixed within 2 hours after I reported it. Very impressive!! The food at the buffet was average but you could find good items. For breakfast, the crepes and croissants were the best and I recommend the chickpeas and mashed potatoes at other meals. The restaurants were both very good too offering seafood, rice, soups, etc. The service at this resort was impeccable. You were always greeted with a smile, and we especially liked Jorge at the lobby bar who made the best drinks. Not sure if I'm spelling it right, but Autonne at the beach bar made the best ham and cheese sandwiches! The pool and the beach were absolutely lovely and clean. It was never hard to get a chair and the temperature was perfect. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would go back!

"Very good value for $$$ - FOOD was very good!!"

My friend and I spent a week from Jan 30 to Feb 6 and I had an amazing time, the weather was great, the beach was great, all the staff that I came in contact with were all great especially Joskiel the waiter at the pool bar...he knew when he saw me coming from my early morning walk on the beach that it was time for my Spanish Coffee (no sugar) and after breakfast it was my Mojito (keep the rum bottle upside down until I said stop) :) - Humberto at the beach took care of getting me my daily morning coconut with water & jelly inside.."YUM" - 1 peso Our room was perfect location on the ground floor on the quiet side of the building but yet close to all the action if we wanted. The room was dated and of course with a few issues, however considering the little time I spent in the room it was not a show stopper for me. l will definitely go back. I was totally blown away at the water pressure in our shower and the the water was hot....I didn't expect that....however to flush the toilet was a little more of a challenge but it was funny, we had to hold the button and keep holding it for the toilet to flush....at first we thought that the toilet wasn't flushing, but then we realized that we had to keep holding it down....lol The Club House attendant was great she always had fresh beach towels as we passed by in the morning. I also went to the Sauna (free) and had a great 30 min massage for $20 CUCs. The 2 a la carte restaurants were surprisingly good also. The entertainment around the resort was very good. I have to give a big shout out to the Rock Band that they had as entertainment one of the nights...I'm not a fan of rock and was about to leave, but when they started I ended up staying for the entire show and was singing along like a mad woman...the crowd could not get enough, they kept calling them back even after they were done. The only issues that I would say I had personally were 1) The exchange rate for the Canadian dollar really sucked . It was shockingly high compared to last year. 1 CDN - .66cuc 2) Stray cats freely roaming the resort. Check out was at noon and the bus was only picking us up at 4:30 pm so we were able to enjoy all the amenities and after spending the last day on the beach we were given a complimentary room close to the reception area to shower and freshen up before the bus picked us up. All in all my week's goal was to relax, get some sun/drinks and just take it easy and I was able to do just that without blowing my budget - so for me it was "Mission Accomplished" I will definitely consider going back to this place. I also noticed that they have Villas that come with their own private pools - not sure how it works though. My advise to anyone considering going to CUBA and hesitating because of all the negative reviews..like food etc....I would say go at least once and get your own experience. My opinion, the value you get for what you pay is 2nd to none. If you are truly a nitpicker and would find any reason to complain even in a seemingly perfect situation, then my advice to you will be "STAY HOME" in your personal paradise. I've known people who've paid way more to go to DR claiming that everything is better there and came back home sick with Tourista for days. So you can't tell. There's good and no so good in every situation. Make your own experience! With SUN - BEACH - DRINKS and a break from the routine I'm not sure how anyone can still be miserable and not have some type of fun. Happy Travels :)

"A cozy hotel by the Cuban problems"

   15-02-2017
Stunning architecture, park and beach! The staff is working on contemporary Cuban way and they are the least friendly. They look like they are trying, but they have that problem at a higher level. Stunning architecture, park and beach. The staff is working on contemporary Cuban way and they are the least friendly. They look like they are trying, but they have that problem at a higher level. Vi-Fi does not work and they only have one place for paid internet. Completely useless and spent the keyboard are replaced after 5 days and long persuasion. At breakfast, no jams, olives, onions, tomatoes, cottage cheese. Toaster little browned toust after the fourth repetition. But a lot of fresh ripe fruit. At lunch and dinner, it was once a little already smelly seafood. Almost every day was an inedible fish probably Pollack from which it is cooked more or less felicitously soup. Every night was quite an interesting show, but which most of the guests did not know, because the notice was hidden in a room instead of a lobby or front dining. The sound system monstrously at an excessive volume and unreasonable mixed chorus in different languages

"Bed bugs"

   13-02-2017
I stayed in a villa no windows in my room. All that was protecting you from the outside were wide shutters.Room 3451. Just got home Sunday Feb 12th at 7:30 am.. got the flu.. never unpacked my suitcase .Today opened my suitcase for about 3 hrs was laying in bed recovering... around 11:30. Had a shower then noticed bites on my arms and my neck. I have had bed bug bites before so I know the drill... When on my vacation I met a lady who mentioned that one of the hotel patrons had bed bugs in her room and they had to move her.I am mentioning this to inform others so they can take precautions when they get home from visiting this resort...what I did was take all my bedding and wash it I had a nice insecticide strip to put in my suitcase to kill the bugs.the strip and the suitcase are outside and will be for three weeks. Then I put all my clothes in garbage bags and washed and dried them.for half an hour because the heat kills the bed bugs.. back to the suitcase I had to airtight seal it in a garbage bag as well that way the bugs will die with the insecticide strip. From now on when I travel I will do this protocol when I get back home. Because I hate bed bugs in my house.. hope this helps someone....
