"Mr Vincent "

Very nice hotel overall, one flaw the room I had was with an open air bathroom enclosed but no doors only good for a married couple if even for that not sure, the room itself was very nice big comfortable bed with good a/c and even a floor fan, kitchen and sofa. I will stay again in the same room solo but not with others.

"Would have given more stars if I didn’t find 2 cockroach on my last night "

   15-05-2018
These apartments are very cute and in a fun area of town. Poor decision on my part I didn’t realize how loud this area is. Saturday night I checked in, got a loft style apartment above “the kiosk” restaurant. It was soooooo loud at night from at the people on the street, the music, and then once that quieted down, from the restaurant closing up shop. Constant banging of pans and slamming of the door. The next day I complained and they moved me two buildings over and with a major upgrade. It was a two bedroom entire apartment. It was beautiful. The only problem (I thought) was that the only room with a/c was the bedroom. The entire apartment needs air conditioning. I’m from Boston, I’m not used to this heat. Management even checked in with me at night to see how I liked the room. I’ve just checked out today, after finding a cockroach inside my suitcase last night. And it was stupid of me to leave my suitcase open, I ALWAYS close it for this reason. I chase the cockroach out of the suitcase and the apartment, only to find one ON TOP of my suitcase in the morning. I have a major bug phobia so I’m still a bit panicked as I eat breakfast outside town. I showed the following picture to the desk, hoping they would tell me it’s a Curaçao style beetle lol but nope, a cockroach. And the woman didn’t seemed surprised. But she gave me spray to spray my suitcase, which isn’t a big deal since I’m flying home in a few hours. Everything will just go straight in the wash. But had I been staying multiple more nights, I’m not sure what their fix would have been, laundering the clothes? The roaches must be coming from all the surrounding restaurants though, bcs the room itself was very very clean, newly remodeled. Pictured is the first room, the second room, then one of the crawling creatures.

"Pietermaai Ocean Front ... GLORIOUS!!!"

   10-05-2018
Stayed for a week at the Pietermaai Ocean Front and could have stayed there forever. What a beautifully appointed apt with fantastic views of the ocean, in a very safe area within walking distance to downtown. If you prefer a roomy apt over a traditional one-room hotel, then this is the perfect accomodation. We had the 3 b/r, penthouse with loft and the views from the balcony and roof top were glorious. Two of the bedrooms had AC and blackout drapes, which combined with the sounds of the sea made for perfect sleeping conditions. The loft bedroom has no AC and with its skylight windows is more suited to early risers. The beds & pillows are very comfortable. The kitchen has the basic essentials. The drawbacks to this apt are: it has no access to the pool on ground floor, which is private for the ground floor apt. There is access to a small pool across the street which belongs to Pietermaai properties. There are no beaches nearby. There is no free access to local TV. The staff, Helen, Anne & Natalie, were friendly & welcoming. Natalie in particular was an angel in helping to resolve issues we had with our airline. We highly recommend the Pietermaai Ocean Front.

"Looks beautiful but beware - look for another place to stay, they are NOT sympathetic to issues."

Be very careful when considering this hotel for your next stay! I've stayed at this hotel twice now, both for short stays of 1 or 2 nights. This is a beautiful looking hotel, nice interior design in a great location but there are definitely some things that you need to be aware of when booking a stay here. Also, if you have any issues, they will NOT compensate you or issue any kind of refunds (check other Tripadvisor reviews regarding this), more on that later. My first stay was last year in one of the rooms with the bed in the loft area. The front door would not open during that stay so I had to enter the room through the back. The stairs are VERY steep and there are no elevators. This is not the hotel's fault, this is the ancient architecture. In this room, there was only AC in the bed area and it didn't cool very well, if you wanted to sit in the sitting area there was no AC. Due to the loft layout, the bedroom never got really cool so it was kind of uncomfortable. My most recent stay left me with a bad taste in my mouth... This time I got a room on the ground floor, so no steep stairs, and this room had a separate bedroom. It looked beautiful, and the staff was very friendly when I interacted with them in person. In this room there was also only an AC in the bedroom, none in the sitting area so the sitting area was HOT. Furthermore, there were people with dogs living behind the room and students/interns on the other side so the room was NOISY. Furthermore, the AC in this room LEAKED. I woke up in the morning to the ENTIRE floor covered in water, it was like waking up in the middle of a lake. The AC had been leaking right by the outlet so where my phone had been plugged in to charge so I got lucky that my phone/charger did not have water damage. My bag got wet as it was on the floor (including the contents) and a pair of shoes were ruined due to water damage. The reception/front desk is only open between 8 am an 8 pm daily, so when I went to check out I had to rush to be able to get to work on time so I could not convey my disappointment about the water due to the leaking AC. I've attached some pictures to the review that, although blurry, convey the amount of water on the floor. I was literally wading through the water. I e-mailed the hotel the next day, including pictures of the water and expressed my disappointment, and requested some kind of compensation or a partial refund for the inconvenience, especially since I had some ruined items. Note that I did not ask for a refund, but rather some kind of gesture on the hotel's part. I received a reply telling me that the leak was indeed very bad and had been fixed but that there was nothing they could do due to the hotel not being able to predict that the AC would leak. If you research a bit on Tripadvisor, you will see that this hotel apparently does not care if you had an unpleasant experience and WILL NOT compensate you or make any kind of attempt to reimburse you even partially. I'm going to have to see if I can now get the money back through my card company, while I did not even want a full refund to begin with. For this reason I am forced to give them the "terrible" rating. I do NOT recommend staying here. There are other hotels in the same area around the same price point. Look there instead!

"This hotel is a hidden gem !!!!!"

We had the privilege of staying for 2 night ( 4/26-4/28 ,2018 ) in this hotel , we had a Deluxe suite right next to one of the pools and a very close distance to the popular "Bizarro cafe " ; The room was very but very comfortable , king size bed , everything was very nice and modern , my wife was very surprise and happy with this hotel selection , wi-fi worked perfect , close to restaurants and bars ( you get a 10% off coupon from Ginger restaurant which is very close too , when staying in this hotel ) , walking distance to the populars Punda y Otrobanda districts ,we had no complains at all , and if we ever go back to Curacao and want to stay in the middle of the action Pietermaai boutique hotel will be my selection again , without hesitation , thanks Team Pietermaai Boutique Hotel for the great service and hospitality.
