"Simply outstanding! A true luxury home away from home."

Well, where to start? Words just can't do justice to this place, but I'll give it a try. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we'd returned home - that's how warm and welcoming every member of staff is, even though this was our first visit! The resort itself is immaculate, with rooms having been recently refreshed. They had just re-opened days before our arrival after a short closure to install some new features (mainly a new outdoor pavilion on the beach which will be used for morning yoga - a beautiful setting indeed!). The resort is set on Grande Anse beach, one of the biggest and best beaches on the island. It's a public beach, however the resort is monitored constantly by security guards, and you never feel that there could be any issues. Comfortable loungers are plentiful, and the warm sea and spotless sand are immaculate and so inviting. Going back to the resort itself, the pool is just the right size for the size of the resort, perfect for a refreshing dip to cool off in the afternoon sun. The included watersports are great (we only took out some kayaks, but they also have paddle boarding, hobie cats, snorkeling etc included as part of the all inclusive package). The food is also exceptional, with plenty of choice at all meal times. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and the choice is varied and plentiful. However, if nothing takes your fancy, the kitchen team are more than happy to make you something off-menu - my friend loved the vegetable roti she had on the first day so much that she had them make it for her every lunch time while we were there! You really will not go hungry (or thirsty!). The drinks are of a high quality, and the Spice Island Classic and Liquid Sunshine are my top tips from the cocktail menu. Delicious! Last but not least, I have to give mention to the staff, from the grounds staff, housekeeping, waiting staff, reception, through to management and even the owner and his family (who have a continuous presence around the resort) - every one of them does their best to make sure you feel at home. You really feel that nothing is too much trouble, and they really do want to make your stay a memorable one - and boy did they do that! Never have I been to a resort where the staff are quite so invested in their clients happiness, and the sheer volume of repeat guests we met while there shows that this is what sets Spice Island apart from other luxury resorts of their kind. We completely fell in love with this place, so much so we're already planning a return visit in May 2018 - and I'm sure it'll feel just like going home!

Just returned from a dream vacation in Spice Island resort, Grenada. This is our 4th visit to this resort and we felt so special when Sir Royston Hopkin, his son Ryan and Management team were there to bid us farewell. During our short stay, they were always there to make us feel welcome. The Seagrape beach Suite was so inviting, immaculate, nicely furnished,Morton Brown toiletries and towels were soft and smelt so fresh. The two queen size beds were very comfortable with 4 pillows and all the bed linens to allow you to relax and enjoy a good night’s sleep. You open the patio door and there is a sofa, table and two chairs with a ceiling fan if needed. Two steps down, there are two comfortable padded lounging chairs and a hammock under an umbrella. You can relax and view the famous Grand Anse Beach, listening to the clear blue water rolling onto the sandy beach. There are lounging chairs closer to the beach and there was no problem securing them for your use. The beach was not crowded and the odd vendor would pass to offer your his wares. A simple no thank you and they were on their way. We have never experienced this high level of personalized service in the Caribbean, being fellow Caribbean residents. The owners and Management team set their standard very high and this sets the resort in the diamond category. The meals are nicely presented, satisfying and the menu is wide and varied. The breakfast menu offers lots of fresh fruits, juices, pastries, cold and hot dishes. The lunch menu has the chef’s favourites and so many choices for the hearty eaters, light options and the vegetarians are catered too. The soups offered are very creamy and wholesome. All the bread, pastries, cakes and ice cream are made in house. I ordered an item on the menu that I enjoyed on my last visit 14 years ago and I could not believe that it tasted just as I remembered it. I enjoyed every mouthful. Although I was so full and satisfied, Janelle, the waitress offered me two scoops of the homemade avocado ice cream which I could not resist. We were too full to enjoy the afternoon high tea and I cannot comment on it. Thanks to head chef Jesson Church, the dinner menu is wide and varied. We enjoyed the choices we made and were very satisfied. The steel pan music added a special touch to the evening. We are looking to our next vacation in Spice Island Resort, hopefully next year.

"Ultimate relaxing!"

In ways, there isn't anything I can add to the positive comments this place gets - and deserves. We had a fantastic week here (during which I celebrated a big birthday) and it was fantastic. The staff are helpful, attentive and friendly but also recognise that some guests are happy being quiet. The food was great - too good in ways as my weight showed on getting home! I'd recommend the fish options at breakfast. Rooms are well laid out, bed was comfortable and very good (and quiet) air conditioning. My only slight gripe was that there was a family with small toddler in the room next door and a lot of noise came through the connecting door as the sound-proofing was pretty minimal - so that was a bit trying (but fortunately they left part way through the week). It was great being able to walk out onto the beach, though - and the seating area on the 'terrace' was also really nice in the heat of the day. The hammock, whilst a good concept, wasn't that practical but that aside, a fantastic resort and definitely one I'd recommend (and hope to return to in the not-too-distant future)!

"Amazing"

This is truly an amazing boutique hotel. The food is fantastic the hotel rooms are lovely with the most comfortable beds. The staff cannot do enough to make your stay special i only drink vodka and the frudge in my room was filled with vodka miniatures and tonics. This is a quiet hotel which is great for couples or adults. The beach is a stretch of golden sand and a romantic early morning stroll to the end is a must. Overall our holiday here was amazing.

"Wonderful holiday!"

Went with my wife and kids to Spice Island Beach Resort in late August. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The resort is a simple one with a lovely beach, swimming pool and restaurants. There is a kids club as well. The kids club is of a good standard, they do some arts and crafts and there is a wii and xbox etc. The beach is very lovely and is a selling point of the resort. The service was gyenerally excellent although one or two staff lacked knowledge of certain things. For instance when we went to the reception to ask about day trips, the woman Keira seemed perplexed and said she was not sure about these and to speak to our travel rep. I booked our whole trip on ba.com so had no travel rep per se. She seemed surprised and suggested we contact the virgin rep. I was a little surprised she had no contacts of any travel companies or any suggestions whatsoever even if the hotel themselves don't organise trips. Once she saw my disappointment she did make an effort to draw circles on a map around some key spots in the country worth visiting. She also gave some good advice not to try driving on the island myself as it is not well signposted. I looked online and read a telegraph article about a guide called Telfor who has won an award for his guiding work. I called him as I found his number online and he came in our car and did a guided day tour which was an incredible experience. The food in the restaurants varies between good to excellent. Most dishes are very good, some superb, I was overall very impressed and contented with the food on offer. It's important to try different things and the chef was very accommodating in making fried plantain for us on request which we love! There was one day I was somewhat surprised as we were relaxing by the beach side bar and we were told we could not have ice cream at the bar and had to go to a restaurant table to eat this. Ice cream can also be consumed poolside. I was surprised and asked a manager for an explanation and they simply stated this was house policy. The hotel is a little old English in some regards in expecting guests to wear trousers for dinner and the ice cream rule, there's a flavour of my old private school manners about the place. Once I got used to that I found it fine although I have to say I think it's a dated approach and they should move with the times and let guests come for dinner in shorts and allow them to eat ice cream by the pool side bar! Also the ice cream wasn't very tasty and they really need to explore getting a new brand in. The milkshakes though were very tasty so not sure if they used different ice cream in there. The alcohol on offer is a good variety although generally not top shelf, there were a few such as Johnnie walker blue label though, in any event the regular drinks such as rum were very nice and a good variety. The bedrooms are impeccable and absolutely lovely, top end five star standard. The bathrooms hansgrohe and v&b, really excellent. We went during a quiet week and were lucky to get an upgrade to a Seagrape suite which was amazing being by the beach. Bear in mind there are some local touts on the beach, none of the beaches in Grenada are completely private. However the touts are rarely seen, only early in the mornings usually. The hotel has some sort of arrangement with an independent water sports company which has a shack on the beach. However the guy in there seemed strangely inhospitable. He took us on a snorkel out from the beach (we wanted someone to take us to the best areas with coral) and was mildly friendly and helpful then, the next day I asked him if there are any boat trips we could arrange and he said "what kind of boat trip" sounding perplexed, on the whole I was not impressed by the standard or service from the water sports centre, although it wasn't really necessary as we were quite happy relaxing for the week and the pool and grounds of the resort as mentioned were delightful. All in all we had a fantastic time and enjoyed the stay thoroughly. True Caribbean hospitality. Sir Royston the owner was there some days when we were there, he is a delightful hardworking person, who cares passionately about the resort and high quality service, that is a big selling point of this small boutique resort. I would definitely return as it was a wonderful experience.
