"Heavenly Getaway!!"

Having read about Saba in our local paper, we decided to fly over from our condo in St. Martin...and SO glad we did. What a gem. It was truly the highlight of our 11- day vacation! After our taxi driver and long time resident, Donna, drove on the breathtaking and winding roads while giving us a tour of the entire island, we were met at the Queen's Garden Resort by owner Claire and her staff member Carmine with refreshing welcome drinks and friendly smiles. Claire talked with us about the island, activities, places to shop and eat, and provided us with a map of the island. We soon witnessed that the owners, Claire and Hidde, are a fantastic team who run a tight ship as they work alongside their staff maintaining the Resort and beautiful grounds, as well as meeting their guests' everyday needs. The attention they give you and the services they provide are both personal and special. They have an eye for detail both in their room amenities as well as their food service. Even seeing their dogs follow them around adds to the warm environment. Conversations we had with them were very informative and wonderful. Spunky and delightful Carline carried our bags upstairs and showed us our beautiful room, #11. Carline was truly a "Jill-of-all trades." She carried out multiple duties from waitressing to bar-tending to answering guests' requests with vigor and smiles, and with quite a sense of humor. We were so thrilled with our room's view of the mountains, the pool and the town of The Bottom in the crater below, as well as it's amenities and cleanliness. The living room was very large, had an additional area with a desk, and a hutch that contained a refrigerator, coffee maker and glasses for drinks. The in-room Jacuzzi was exhilarating as we looked out at the mountains from its open, windowless wall. The bedroom was charming and the bathroom was large and appointed with all the personal toiletries we needed as well as a soothing shower. There was lots of closet and storage space. Furnishings were unusual and beautiful, and I was told they were mostly from Bali where Hidde had once lived. Meals can be taken either inside the restaurant or outside on the patio. At night there are lights that adorn a gazebo with a table below that seats 6-8 people. There are also smaller tables about the patio. Chef Johan de Jager prepared and presented meals that truly rivaled any five star restaurant. His creativity with his choices of appetizers, entrees and desserts presented on a chalkboard at your table makes it hard to decide what to order. I was fortunate enough to order two entrees one night because I couldn't decide!! A special treat for us was having our dinner in their tree house looking out onto the mountains and crater and hearing all the tree frogs serenading us...all night long! You need to place a reservation ahead to reserve this very special place. Our waiter, Duco, who specializes in making unusual martinis and tropical drinks, prepared special drinks for us. His hustle up and down the tree house steps was very impressive as he attended to other guests eating below us. He made our meal very special. The pool is large and very inviting. The setting overlooking the mountains and the crater, was rejuvenating. The outdoor circular bar provided a fun experience chatting with other guests who come from all over the world. It is also comfortable to sit in the lounge area beside the bar enjoying the view and relaxing with a drink or snacks. But, this is not to say that guests don't respect others' privacy recognizing they wish to be alone. The Resort is located on the edge of the rain forest and multiple hikes are available outside the Resort's entrance. It's also only a short--but steep-- walk to the nearest town, The Bottom. The only way to get around the island is by taxi, and they are readily available. It's fun to go to the four towns to explore the history of the island at the museums and see local artists' shops. I was lucky to be able see the ladies making Saban lace doilies. Sadly, this precious art form is only done by the older generation now. There are also several little eating places to enjoy. On our return trip to the airport our taxi driver, Eddie, pleasured us with stories from his colorful childhood as well as local lore. Visit Saba, and stay at The Queen's Garden Resort. It is truly the Queen of the island in all its majesty. You will never forget your glorious experience. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer!

"Better than last time, if that's possible. "

My wife and I just returned from our 2nd trip to Saba and Queen's Garden Resort. Our main impetus to return was this resort. Claire and her husband Hidde have an incredible ability to make you feel as if you are the only guests on the island, let alone their hotel. This level of care is carried throughout their entire staff from servers to service providers, and from the resort to a 2nd restaurant they now manage, Chez Bubba. Hard not to mention all staff by name as they are all deserving, but Duco deserves being mentioned. He "gets it" too. Service and food are excellent. But the difference is Claire. She truly wants to meet and know people and she clearly has the God given gift of hospitality. Rare in this day and age. Claire will arrange everything and anything you would like to do with a genuine desire to make you happy. We stayed in one of the two Royal Suites which was exactly as we remembered it. Having said that, all of their rooms (suites) are similar and very comfortable. But the Royal Suite has the best view likely on the island. My wife took advantage of the spa and was equally pleased. I rarely leave comments, and this likely falls short of the mark of how truly impressed we were...again.

"Relaxing diversion getaway"

It's been less that 24 hours and we miss Queen's Garden already. Can't say enough about the attentiveness of the staff, the delicious food and the comfort of the accommodations. It was as if they were able to read our minds before we asked or mentioned anything. The private jacuzzi was a welcomed relief after a day of hiking the trails of Saba. The pasta wheel is a delicious carb-load for the next day's adventure. The ceiling fan provided just enough movement to assist the cool mountain breeze chill the room for a comfortable night's sleep. The spa is nestled in a nudge of the Garden to provide the special sanctuary for a soothing treatment. I suppose the best recommendation is that we will be returning as quickly as we can.

"Best place ever."

My wife and I had our honeymoon here 13 years ago, returned for our 10th anniversary, and now for our 13th. We stayed for 10 days. Every day was wonderful, people on the island were wonderful, and the hotel staff were all very, very wonderful. They all put forth extra effort above and beyond, and were genuinely friendly and kind. We didn't want to leave. This has been the best hotel I've ever stayed in, and the nicest people I've ever met.

"For that little get a way"

I took a 3 day trip to Saba to relax and stayed at Queen's Garden Resort. Right off the bat, the staff is amazing. Duco received me very well at the front desk and my table was already set for dinner! The room is extremely comfortable with a large kitchen, bathroom, bedroom with a full closet and a private jacuzzi that overlooks the resort and the view of the bottom. Be advised though, there is NO AIRCONDITIONING. Only ceiling fans and natural air. Chef Johan made the most amazing dishes, the pool is fairly big and you can start the Mount Scenery Trail straight from the resort. There is free wifi and cable in the rooms and a mini fridge and a coffee station in your room. Overall, the only place I would stay in in Saba.
