Over Jardin del Eden

"Very good accommodation for this area"

   21-03-2017
I have to say that a few things disappointed me about this hotel: - there was indeed a sewer smell coming from the bathroom at times, they need to look into this - very small pool area, they could expand that into the adjacent grassy area and heat that pool! It was freezing! - we were in room 31 and the washroom was smaller than some I've had on cruise ships Then I walked into town down a nice path they have with music and I was less disappointed. I thought that this area and Costa Rica overall was very underdeveloped. I thought I shouldn't complain after we walked around and saw that the majority of accommodations are pretty basic. It's pretty pricy at this hotel, but overall I thought Costa Rica was very expensive and even more with our Canadian dollar. Now the good aspects of this hotel: - we had a fairly good sized iguana sneek in our room and a gentleman from the hotel staff gently picked him up and put him in the garden. I love animals so I was very impressed that he took such gentle care of Mr. iguana. It was also very exciting. So keep that patio door closed! ;) - the breakfast was very good. I loved all of the different homemade jams. Yum - it is a very quiet, relaxing hotel. We didn't turn the tv on once that I can remember. - all of the staff were nice - on our garden patio I saw hummingbirds every morning, other birds and we even saw a mother squirrel carrying her baby. Pretty neat. Overall I thought this place was pretty nice for the proximity to the Main Street and beach. It also has a private area on the beach. We didn't lay out there, but the shower was great to wash off in after our walks down the beach. It's a small boutique hotel. I get it. I had to appreciate that and stop looking for perks you find at sprawling all inclusives in more developed areas.

"Jardin del Eden or Garden of Stink and Deception"

   20-03-2017
This hotel was a huge disappointment overall. It started when we checked in. We tried to reserve the best room but had to settle on the Romantic Star room. When we were taken to our room it did not look at all like any of the photos on the website. It was a room worth no more than 50.00. It was old, smelled bad, the quilt on the bed was full of stains and the room was tiny. I went up and asked and was dismissed. I tried to accept that I was paying almost 400.00 per night for this room and I could not. I went back up with my computer to show Yerling the pictures. There was another woman up there also unhappy with her standard room. I came to find out that evening she was moved to a suite and shown several suites that were empty. The next day Eunice the manager changed our room and said that last night there were no other rooms available. She was blatanly lying. Our new room was nice but continued to have the same nauseating septic gone bad smell that our first room did. The staff is friendly but this hotel is not worth the money. Also, they have no integrity. Here are a few other things that happened while twe were there. We were sitting on our patio when I suddenly had to dodge a heavy clay roof piece that almost hit me. It broke and fell all over out patio. We called the front desk and a friend went to notify the front desk. They came and cleaned it up, offered no apology and then sent a bottle of wine to our friends room and did nothing for us. Ridiculous. Upon check out I was speaking with Eunice about adjusting our bill for our first night at the hotel when we did not sleep at all because it stank, the A/C did not work and a monkey started howling at 4 am. She refused and insisted our first room #4 was indeed considered a high category suite and there were no other rooms available. We will not return to this hotel. You are better off renting a condo than paying for this place. The staff is great but this is a hotel of absolutely no integrity. Also, the TV's are crappy and the beds were hard as rocks. Finally, sometimes the hot water works and sometimes it doesn't. If you like to smell stink constantly and patronize liars this is the hotel for you.

"Quiet Oasis in Surf Town"

   18-03-2017
This is a quiet place in a surfing party town. Excellent service and the included breakfast is very inclusive with cook to order egg/waffle chief. Only a 3-5 minute walk to their beach. Our room number 6 had a great view to the ocean but be warned 35 steps one way up & down from the lobby. Pool and garden are very peaceful with several canopy beds around and comfortable lounge chairs. Attached "La Plumeria" restaurant only serves dinner during high season. Surrounds the pool and gardens but no ocean view. Every evening has 3 fix prix choices. We ate dinner their once and excellent Caesar salad, sea bass, and dessert. Cucumber gazpacho was more like a cream soup than gazpacho.

"Amazing property and service."

   15-03-2017
What a wonderful property. From the location to the staff it surpassed all of our desires for a secluded and quiet resort. Location was great with a private beach and beverage service at the beach. Food service at the property was stellar. Breakfast buffet was delicious and a great way to start our days. The staff was attentive to our every need and very friendly as well. We will be back and this is the only place we will ever stay in Tamarindo.

"Incredible Oasis"

   08-03-2017
From the exquisite gardens, to the tranquil pools and large covered daybeds, fantastic and friendly service, delicious and healthy food options, great spa treatments, heavenly views, and our well appointed very clean room with private hot tub and blue tooth sound system, this was an amazing choice for a couple that has travelled a lot. One of our favs for sure. Will be back!
