"Romantic getaway in a beachfront Palapala"
We loved this place! We are not a fan of all inclusive resorts and this was perfect. The service food, and whole resort were out standing. I'm in the hospitality business and have a high bar for service, and I give them all an A+. We both love the choices of the three pools (and of course the ocean) and how they are different and excellent in their own ways. We had our favorite server Rogelio, at the poolside restaurant who was outstanding and remembered our names and what type of coffee we each ordered. My only suggestion is to somehow add some additional lounge chairs around the pool, on the days the sea and winds were a little to much to make sitting on the beach as comfortable as sitting poolside.
"It's everything you've read about!"
My girlfriend and I just finished a 6-day stay at Mahekal. We read many of the reviews when researching this resort, and have to say that it seemed too good to be true. But what we found was it was all true! Some brief highlights: We can't say enough about the great service and the friendly, gracious nature of the entire staff. This is what we will remember most about our stay. Vincent at Boli's and Rogelio at the restaurant were among our favorites. We opted for the resort shuttle to and from the airport which was totally worth it. We didn't plan to rent a car, and the shuttle was a great fit for us. It took nearly 2 hours to get through immigration when we arrived in Cancun, and it was nice to have a ride still waiting for us, with cold wash cloths, water and cervesas. 45 minute trip to the resort, Check in was easy. We stayed in a garden view palapa. It was clean and we enjoyed the tropical feel...complete with hammocks. The grounds are beautiful, and very well kept. Each day you will see staff working to maintain the gardens and keeping the property neat and clean. The food was very good. We took most of our meals at the resort, and felt like we had plenty of options and authentic food. We ate 2 nights at Fuego, which is an extra charge, but is a beautiful setting and no more expensive than a nice restaurant at home. The beach is really well-kept, and there are several pools to choose from, with plenty of chairs and fresh towels. We did an excursion to Akumel for snorkelling and a trip to a cenote for a swim amongst the stalactites, which was awesome. Boli was helpful in arranging this for us. Safety was never a concern for us. Even on 5th avenue. About the music: we read several complaints about this before our trip. Thee are local clubs that play loud electronic music, We heard this daily between 3-6 from a neighbouring beach club. We weren't there over a weekend, so we didn't experience what others have written about hearing music all night long. But the resort was very transparent about this issue prior to booking. Overall, a wonderful place to visit and one we recommend highly.
"The best place to stay in Playa Del Carmen"
Beachfront room with 2 queen beds. Exceptional service. Friendly staff at every turn. We booked a day trip to visit Chichen Itza through the hotel concierge and it was a beyond fantastic journey. The food was great too, try the tropical ceviche for lunch. The grounds offer a ton of privacy and aren't too far apart from each other.
I have never been anywhere more beautiful than Mahekal Beach Resort! It was an absolute blissful paradise. Our ocean front room was magnificent but any room in the resort would be great! The staff was the friendliest of any I've ever seen and the food was outstanding! I did not want to leave! The convenience of 5th Avenue in Playa was also a major plus as it was so easy to walk from the resort for shopping and restaurants. When I go back to Playa there is no doubt this will be where I stay!
"Great location, great staff"
Spent 4 nights at Mahekal in mid January. The weather was amazing and the resort was perfect for lounging by the pool or beach. Rogelio served us at breakfast every morning, and he was the best! So friendly and helpful. Thank you Rogelio! Recommend Fuego for lunch and going into town for dinner.
