"South Seas Perfection"

Every time we visit South Seas it is a perfect vacation. A place where every member of the family can enjoy. Definitely my happy place! Beaches, flowers, gulf water and total tranquility! A family vacation spot for 20+ years.

"Needs Work"

This was my husbands and I first stay at this resort after looking at it for years. We came across a good deal, and I am sure glad we did, because this place is not worth what I have seen as their standard prices. The place overall needs some TLC and updating and deep cleaning. But the biggest issues is general management, or lack thereof. We brought our boat with us and the front desk staff had no idea what to tell us to do. We were told to call the harbor master but asked if perhaps they could since we did not have his number. Once we got everything squared away with him, we went to put our boat in the water. One is a crowd at the ramp and it was taken over by workers at the resort. We waited a VERY long time for people that WORKED there to finally make way for paying guests. Once our boat was secure we proceeded to the trailer parking area right outside the resort. It was FULL. No parking. And worst of all the LAST spot had just been taken by an employee. He did not offer to move for us. Many of the trailers looked like company ones and many looked broken down. If some took initiative to clean the place up, I'm sure it could accomodate more guest trailers, and look like something other than a junk yard. We then proceeded back through the main gate with intentions of just parking our trailer at our room, when the front gate attendent, the ONLY helpful staff we encountered the entire time, informed us of overflow trailer parking about two miles up into the resort. (He was a young man working the gate on Thursday June 15th around 3-4pm) He was truly the only bright spot in our check in process. We found the other lot and were greeted rudely by a staff member asking "Who sent you here"? We took the second to last spot in an less than ideal empty lot. Just a little cleaning up and leveling would change the world for a boating guest. Once our trailer was parked we found our room, and I do mean found as the front desk attendent was quite vague as to where it was. The room itself was fine, no issues. We had some great boating days and didn't use much of the resort except for one trolley trip to the main pool area. I had wanted to grab a drink at the tiki bar. I ordered my drink from the area of the menu clearly marked that it came with a souvenir shaker. When it did not come in said shaker, I inquired only to be told they'd run out of them a long time ago. Even though all their menus still state their existnace as it does on line. Perhaps someone might care enough to update that as I was not the only one that afternoon to be dissapointed. This place is kind of a relic stuck in time. I cannot remember the last time I was asked to wear a wristband to use a resorts ammenities. Needs updating and better overall management.

"Regatta Shop"

A most wonderful family vacation at South Seas Island Resort just ended. We loved it there and cannot wait to go back. I didn't get a chance to do as much shopping as I would have liked having a family of boys. The folks at the Regatta shop in Chadwicks square totally hooked me up and now I have the gifts I wanted to pick up. Thanks Dana. South Seas Island Resort is absolute heaven.

"Mixed review...."

Well, First off their 1 bedroom "Villa" is absolutely a lie it is no stretch of the imagination a villa - it is a 1 bedroom condo in a mid rise. I have stayed at various properties with Villas in the past and they were either small quint 1 bedroom cottages or small 4 unit quads of high quality accomodations this was NOT. Th Unit we stayed in was very outdated and had mold and mildew on the porch area that we had to have them come and clean. The stove was one of those old glass-top over electric burner types that was so worn out that you couldn't get consistent heat from one side to the other of a burner!! That being said the property itself was georgous And the Staff was attentive and courteous. Prices for food and Alcohol were very high Drinks- $13 for a Rum Punch at the pool But there are many many places to eat within walking distance of the south Entrance Rum punch's were on Average $6-7 at any of those places by comparison so we ate all of our meals we didn't fix in room out at Places like: Doc Ford's; Bubble Room;Key Lime Bistro; Mucky Duck; Sunset Grill and RC Otters and had great casual fare at very reasonable prices. We went on 2 of the featured Captiva Cruises out of Marina at the resort and found them fun and ver reasonable - $30-40 for everything from a 2 hours Dolphin cruise to a 5 hour island cruise. Loved the Sanibel=Captiva Thing but would definitely stay elsewhere when we return.

"Nice resort, but a bit pricey. "

We stayed in a villa overlooking a marina. The villa was a one bedroom 2 bath, with small kitchen/dining area and a living room and screened in balcony. The room was spacious and the villa was very clean. It is fully equipped with utensils, cooking pans, a full sized refrigerator, stove, microwave and coffee maker. We had an issue with the sink in one of the bathrooms and the tub in the other bathroom would not drain. We did not call management to report it during our stay, but we did mention it to them upon checkout. The beach and pools in the area are beautiful. There is a pool with 2 waterslides for both children and adults. One thing which was a bit of an inconvenience was that everything you'd buy on the island would be charged to your room key so there is no way to separate charges if you want to pay for your own stuff when staying with others. Another thing I noticed was that there was only 1 trolley that ran throughout the time we were there and it would take a long time to pass by again. We ended up just taking our car since it would be faster to get to the beach and pools. The island is beautiful, but the resort is a bit pricey for what it is. All in all, we had a good time and our stay was very relaxing.
