Over Lago Mar Resort & Club

We had a three night stay while in town for a friend's celebration. This resort blows all the other places I considered out of the water. The staff are friendly and helpful, taking great pride in the resort. Family owned and their presence shows. The pools are clean, refreshing and well-designed. The palm trees and expansive beach front on the ocean makes he place feel like a tropical paradise. It's nestled in a residential area, so it's not surrounded by other commercial properties. You will need transportation to get anywhere but you are close to all the popular spots. Uber or car are equally easy. There are a number of restaurants. We only ate at the outside bar (lunch) and inside breakfast/lunch restaurant. Food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast buffet was the best. Room service was also prompt and fine. The room was spacious. The bathroom was a bit tucked in but thoughtfully designed to work in the space. Not much room to spread out on the vanity, but just fine for the two of us. Bedding was comfortable. As a Disney fan, I would describe the resort as having all the Disney quality in staff and thoughtfulness in design with none of the chaos. Truly a great place to relax while still being close to the popular parts of Fort Lauderdale. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back!
"There for a wedding"
Spent 2 nights for a wedding and had twin 4 year olds with us. Place was perfect for our family. Enjoyed swimming in the pool, eating at the pool bar and just overall relaxing. The staff went over and above to accommodate my twins at the wedding (not much food a 4 year old would eat!) to make the evening so pleasant for all of us.
We arrived here after a long flight from England. We were only staying here for two nights before we drove to Orlando. We were greeted by friendly staff at the reception. A gentleman took our bags to our room and gave us a quick tour of the hotel on the way. Our room was lovely, I had read reviews that the rooms were a little dated. We did not find this. The rooms had all the facilities that we required: coffee machine, fridge, bathroom accessories etc. We had a view of the swimming pool and the beach in the distance. If you can get one of these rooms you will not be disappointed. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice for us and our children. My 5 year old is extremely fussy but nothing was too much trouble for them. We had lunch at the pool bar we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the portion sizes were huge. My 11 year old couldn't finish it. In the evening we had drinks and a snack at the pool bar, again nothing was too much trouble. Very polite staff ensuring my children were happy. We enjoyed lazing in the hammocks whilst our 2 daughters played on the park and they even played a game of chess and crazy golf too. The shop had lots to offer, the only draw back was I couldn't always find a price on things. The hotel is right on the beach which just makes this hotel even more special. We enjoyed an evening stroll and an early morning stroll on the beach. The only thing we did not like was everything was charged to your room so we had to keep an eye on what the girls were buying in the shop. Lots of people prefer this especially if spending the day around the pool, it is much easier to charge to your room but for us we prefer to pay up front for things. All in all though I highly recommend this hotel and when we visit Fort Lauderdale again we will definitely be staying here. It had a very friendly and safe atmosphere!!
"Paradise on the beach"
The Lago Mar Resort is very good, the rooms are well furnished, clean and comfortable. The staff are outstanding! We were there when Hurricane Matthew skirted the coast and were evacuated inland. The staff worked late into the night to ensure guests were transferred to inland hotels. For service the Lago Mar cannot be beaten. Highly recommended!
My review has more to do with the management , than the hotel itself. We had been looking forward to going to this hotel after our cruise, and the day we got back from the cruise, I noticed that our reservations were for the wrong day. We were supposed to be booked for Saturday October 8th, but the reservations said the 9th. I called the hotel, they told me to call were we booked from, so I did , and explained that the dates were wrong, that we just need to switch the days, not cancel. That I had proof that we just arrived in port, and that we were flying out on the day the reservations said we were to be at hotel. They said no problem, we should be able to get it switched with out it costing us anything , even though the policy said we had to cancel before the 25th of September or we would be charged). But he was pretty sure beings that we just needed to switch days, we would be ok. He then called the hotel manager, but was told "no, they will still be charged for Sunday, even if we switch it ". Even though we had proof that it was booked for the wrong day, that we weren't just trying to get out of a reservation for free , they still would not switch us for free , even though they had rooms available, and I even told them I'd pay the difference from our original reservation price, to what the room would be that day Nope, they would not help us out at all... We had to cancel, and scramble to find another hotel at the last minute Yes I know there are policies, but even when hotels.com representatives say there shouldn't be an issue, and you have all the proof that you just made it for wrong day, and need it switched, you would think they would accommodate you . Very very disappointed that we were treated like this, as if we were just trying to get out of a reservation for free, when that was the furthest thing from our minds .. We just wanted to stay in Saturday as we were flying out on Sunday I think they need to have some kind of policy that allows a person to switch the days, if they realize to late that the reservation was for wrong day . So they got my $175 and I had to pay for another hotel, and shell out more money just sober had a place to stay . Seems to me they just wanted my $$ whether I stayed there or not. Now who is the scammer?
