"Week of preteen family fun"
We stayed for a week in a savannah view family room with club level access. Access to the club was fairly important as it gave us all some additional quiet space away from a somewhat compact room. Being able to snack and drink when we wanted from the club buffet also gave us a viable alternative dining option when we couldn’t face the enormous portions is the restaurants. Room was clean and well appointed as you would expect with DVD player and tea/coffee making as well as an empty fridge which was great for bringing back leftovers. Housekeeping was excellent and unobtrusive throughout. Hotel pool is excellent and fenced with very attentive lifeguards so great for families with younger children. Lots of shared lounge spaces both inside and out for unwinding after time in the parks. The hotel is an extended bus journey from all the parks (except Animal Kingdom) but the Disney buses are every 15-20 mins from the front of the hotel so not too much of a problem. Minor niggles ... no variety in pillows and they were too “full†for me, toilet paper is single ply (useless), couldn’t get concierge help with luggage either at check in. Top tip - room rate is room only so if you are eating on a meal plan you need to book the Boma restaurant for buffet breakfast before you arrive. There is a self service breakfast place accessed from outside by the pool but it can be very crowded and noisy. Quality of food is excellent throughout the hotel.
This is the best hotel at Disney by far. Great service. Multiple food options. I mean the animals are awesome! Totally worth the savanna view. Great activities always going on around hotel. I really don't ever want to stay at another resort on Disney property it was fantastic! You will not regret it!
"Great atmosphere and experience, but won't stay here again"
We stayed here overnight for a relaxing pool day on our way home from a Disney Cruise. The pool area was spotless and beautiful-a huge pool that accommodated the larger afternoon crowd. The dining area off of the pool area had great food options for the kids, but the dining area was not kept as clean as I would expect for Disney and the cost of the resort-many tables had trash on them and needed wiped off-and this was during a down time when there were only a few families eating. My husband actually cleaned a table off that was covered in trash because it sat there our entire dining time. I expect a place like this (at over $500 a night) to have staff continually keeping the dining area and tables spotless. Our Savanna view room was beautiful (there were always animals out to see), but had a strong chemical odor from the cleaning supplies that gave me a headache. I am thrilled the rooms were spotless and had been cleaned, but would have preferred a less offensive odor upon entering. I remember Disney rooms having a distinct, pleasant smell and this one was almost sickening it was so strong- a strong ammonia scent. My biggest complaint-having stayed in many other Disney resorts-was the lack of Disney transport busses. If you were headed to Animal Kingdom, there was plenty of transportation that was continuous and had short wait times. But Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs transport required long waits. We waited for 30-40 minutes each time we went to Disney Springs. For only being there such a short amount of time, we were disappointed to lose such valuable time just waiting for a bus to arrive. For Animal Kingdom Lodge being so far out, you would think that they would compensate for the trips to other Disney locations by providing even MORE bussing to eliminate such long wait times.
"Animals? Quiet would be welcome."
Currently staying with family in 'savannah' facing rooms in Jambo House. Room has the hotels kitchen fans below it, we get woken daily at 05:15 from either people leaving at same time every morning or more likely, lorries delivering under our room on 3rd floor - in my case we have been woken same time every morning since arrival. Animals therefore don't venture near, and related part of family are overlooking car park as their view. Guided night tour under our window at 2230 with knackered kids was not welcome. Thought needs to be given to what we're paying for.
"FANTASTIC HOTEL INSIDE ANIMAL KINGDOM!!"
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is an amazing facility! We checked in after dark, opened the curtains and there was a giraffe feeding on one of the trees outside our room!! The whole hotel is a great place, very clean, etc.
