"What a waste of time and money - so disappointing...and THEY DO NOT CARE"

I was here to check off this amazing property from my life list. I was able to get a last minute reservation for three nights and added park passes and a meal plan. When I drove up, the valet was helpful and that was the last genuine, caring service that I experienced during my stay. I did notice that the valet, bell and housekeeping staff were all very clearly expecting to be tipped at every turn and this was handled in a less than subtle way. Check in was slow - there was no one waiting but they were training someone and the process seemed to take forever. They had our luggage, but no one was available to show us to our room - really? We were given a map and directions and off we went. We walked into the room and I was completely underwhelmed. I have stayed at Fairmont, I have stayed at Sofiiel, I have even stayed at several Four Seasons so I have an idea what a close to a thousand dollar a night property should be. This was NOT it, sadly, it was not even close. Upon entering the room, I noticed that the chair, sofa, bed skirts and floor had glitter all over them. When the bell staff arrived with our bags, I showed him, but he seemed unconcerned - language may have been a barrier. I had called the front desk to let them know about my concerns - they said that there would see about another room and get back to me. After a while, I decided to check out the property and went back to the front desk to let them know what was going on. Here I was met with the same indifference - even the manager was no help - nice enough but as there were no other rooms available, we were stuck. I asked if they could please send some sheets so we could cover the couch and chairs and not end up covered in glitter. They sent a lovely woman down who was told to change our sheets - NO that is not what we needed. She was shown the glitter and said that she would note it for us. As I went to use the restroom, I discovered that the door was sticky, very sticky - gross. The next day, when I returned to the room, the beds had been made but that was it. The door was still sticky, the glitter was still everywhere, the sheets were still covering the chair and couch. I called down to guest services and they said that they would note it and be sure that a manager came to look at the room. After our second night, the same poor level of cleaning, still a room full of glitter, but this time they decided to take my razor, my soap my shampoo and my bath gel. WHAT THE HECK?? I called guest services and they kept slaughtering my name - I hung up, tried again and asked why they were deliberately mispronouncing my not hard to say name. I was then connected to a manager who apologized and noted that they had upgraded the phone system and it was messing up the names - WHY USE THE NAMES IF YOU KNOW THEY ARE WRONG. I explained about the missing items and also mentioned the glitter issue - if my count is correct that is 4th or 5th person that I have told about this issue. They sent two maids with soap, shampoo and conditioner - I guess that I am just out the razor. I also showed these two kind ladies the glitter and the sticky door. When I went to check out, no one cared that I had an issue - the attitude was, well, we have your card, we are going to charge you - what do you want us to do. Why did they not send a supervisor immediately to look at the room and make a plan to deep clean it on our first full day. We only had turn down service once of the three nights - should that not be standard and YES I REQUESTED IT. I understand that things happen, mistakes are made, but it was the WE DO NOT CARE attitude that has me leaving this review. I have tried several times to contact the property directly, but I keep getting sent to a call center. Other issues were the non existent service at the pool that was so loud it sounded like a rap concert and kids in the hot tub. The entire property is showing its age and this would have been a much better review if management had cared, shown concern and offered something, even something small for the filthy room. Not worth the money and I would not stay here again.

"I kept pinching myself!"

Grand Floridian is an amazing resort. On past visits to Disney, I have admired it from afar. For this family trip, I was able to book a room. I enjoyed the fireworks from the pool area and from my room. Next trip...I will stay here, definitely!

"A bit disappointed "

Okay, yes, I am spoiled! I waited a long time to stay here and maybe I built it up too much in my own head. I have stayed at all of the Monorail Disney Hotels plus many of the others but I have to say that my favorite is the Yachtsman Hotel where I stayed last month. This hotel is beautiful but the vibe is formal and stuffy. Actually, I don’t feel a vibe at all...people are just coming and going and I didn’t feel like anyone cared where you were going. There is no posting of activities, no greeters welcoming you... which I loved the captain who welcomed you at the Yachtsman. He remembered our name, asked how we were.... just something as simple as that makes your stay nicer. Here the vibe is not inviting. I know other may like the ease of the monorail but to me, I like service with a smile and a welcoming feeling. I didn’t get that here.

"Looking for less Disney & more elegance?"

The Grand Floridian is one of the best Disney Resort hotels. On the monorail, like the Contemporary and the Polynesian, the GRand Floridian is very very convenient and beautiful. It takes you back to simpler time with a piano player through the day and a jazz band in the afternoon. Everyone is focus on a great customer experience. Our concierge, Maggie, was spectacular and made sure we set up for a wonderful time. The shops and restaurants were great. I would go back in a heartbeat. Despite the wonderful decor and atmosphere, it is Disney elegant, not Waldorf elegant, set expectations accordingly.

"Awesome Resort"

Wonderful property, wonderful staff, and two fairly direct connections to the Magic Kingdom (monorail or boat). Also loved the fact that staying in one of the interior resorts allows for the park extra hours!
