"Not as good as I expected"

I held off reviewing this hotel, pending an answer from management on our stay. We checked in here last Thursday, after our conference at the Swan. I was expecting a comparable hotel, since they are sister properties. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The lobby was spectacular, having been refurbished in the recent past. But it is very large and somewhat confusing. We waited a little bit to check-in, not too long. Their computer system went down while we were checking in, but our clerk handled it well. She was calm about the whole thing, even though this was her first day on the desk. We wandered around for a minute and as we came back through, she flagged us over. The computers were up and our room was ready. We had bag services bring our bags over so we retrieved them and headed to the room. It was a very convoluted path to our room, 4024 in the East Wing. The carpets are worn looking and the hallways seemed close and dark. Our room appeared clean and bright. I was a bit annoyed as I had requested a theme park view w/a balcony. My view? The Tower of Terror through a palm tree. Not what I had anticipated, but overall, not a huge deal. The balcony is a good size, but hadn't been cleaned in a while (there was a cup stuck in the railing that had been there a while and the floor had not been swept in a while). The bathroom area was smaller than at the Swan, with no door to close off the vanity area from the rest of the room. The area with the shower was mostly clean, although I did see some hair by the wall. The beds were clean and comfy. I do love the mattress they used, so soft! After a long day at the parks, we returned to the room, expecting a good night's sleep. My roommate woke me up at around 1AM saying she had seen a roach. Not what I expected at a hotel of this caliber. But it is FL and one bug wasn't going to bother me. She woke me up a little later and said she had seen two more. I didn't call the night manager, I was too tired. But in the morning, as I was brushing my teeth, two little bitty roaches came crawling out of the sink. I killed them (and saved them). After checking out, I did talk to the manager on duty, Maximiliano. He was very concerned. But he didn't know what to do for us at that time. I said I would email him when I got home. I did, and received an email back from Ursula, the head of housekeeping. She assured me that they had the room treated and deep cleaned. She gave me Starwood points to compensate for our issue. All in all, the staff is good at the Dolphin, but the rooms were not what I was expecting.

"Had a few issues, but they were handled....beds are AMAZING!"

This was my first stay at the Dolphin and it was very nice. The pool is nice and huge. The waterfall and slide are lots of fun for everyone. We had some issues, the main one being a very loud noise that seemed to be coming from above us in the bathroom. It was really bad. I spoke with the front office supervisor, Maximiliano, who was amazing. I would have given a much lower rating if not for him. He was caring and sincere and worked very hard to make things right. It's rare to find that level of service and compassion. It turns out there was a problem with a pipe. He apologized and did his best to make things right. What was amazing was that in our conversation I had mentioned that my mother-in-law had a hard time walking and the following day, when we spoke he remembered and asked about her. With that said, the one thing they can't change are the bathrooms. They are SMALL, so be ready for that. There is also a door stop on the floor that will get you at least once when you come out of the shower. Otherwise, it's great. Water pressure and shower head were great. Toilet flushed quietly so nobody woke up. The beds are AMAZING. You fall right in and envelopes you into a great sleep! The staff, for the most part is fantastic. The only disappointment was house keeping. We had three rooms and twice one room was not made and twice none of the rooms had bottled water (the give you 2 per day), even after complaining. Hallways were also not kept clean. The safe in the room is smallish and is on the wall in the closet. I did find out that they have safe deposit boxes so when you are ready to check out you can get a box and put your electronics, etc., safely away and hit the park one more time. Thanks again to Maximiliano for that information....and for really making the our stay as comfortable as possible. We would stay again because of him! Lastly, every one we encountered in the restaurants were friendly and helpful and accommodating. Eating downstairs was quick and easy, and for a snack, Fuel was great. The sandwiches and three bean salad was amazing. Ice cream downstairs is a much. Internet throughout the hotel was excellent, I never dropped a signal. It is also a walk to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios if the boats are too crowded and you don't want to wait. Transportation is also easy to get to. Bell service was fast and helpful as well.

"Terrible, couldnt be any worse!!!"

Been here before, was so so, but this time, it was simply awful... 1- sent clothes for laundry 7am on saturday, and guess what, it disappeared! Am checking out 48 hours later, and they lost my clothes!! 2- if that wasnt enough, they only cleaned my room yesterday, after i asked for it twice. And they did it only after 7pm... And today, they simply did not clean it!!! And i asked for it twice again!!! 3- the hotel is getting terribly old, with no maintenance. Smeels old, looks old, feels old. And you can hear whatever people do or talk at the corridor, next room, elevator.. LAST TIME FOR SURE!!! And I am (was) a SPG member!!

"Nice hotel, great location right at Epcot."

This is a beautiful resort with tons of things to do, in the best location right near Epcot. There are a few restaurants and bars in the resort. In the center of the lobby there is a large bar with seating all around and beautiful crystal hanging from the ceiling. Very nice decor and lighting. Extremely well done. The grounds are nice and my favorite was the pool. I think I counted 5 of them with the largest at the end and it traveled almost like a lazy river with a large waterfall. Very awesome, and heated to a perfect temp. I had a king room which was nice but not overly large and nothing over the top and the bathroom was a little small. Service was good and I liked the fact that the swan was in walking distance right over a foot bridge. I was very happy with my stay and again, I thought the location was great right in Disney.

"Fantastic resort, wonderful staff"

A vacation at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort is a truly magical experience. The attention to detail and hospitality of the employees is amazing. It all begins prior to your arrival with contact from the resort to arrange any special requests. The bell staff; Moe, Lucky, Michael, Sam, and Richard seamlessly have your luggage in your room, ice bucket full and any other necessities taken care of. Nicole, Zaheer, and Boone at the front desk arrange for the room of your choice, even though every room is great. Andrise in housekeeping has the room spotless, not a wrinkle on the bed. The entire staff is wonderful. The resort itself is so much fun due to its size, consequently there are so many activities, restaurants, shops, and entertainment possibilities. The lobby area is magnificent, open and airy, with a huge crystal chandelier sparkling above. The pools and outside food/bar service are a great way to relax after a morning at EPCOT, which is only a short walk away. Shula's Steak House has an extensive menu and service that is impeccable, Marc Tilton takes care of every detail. The list of all of the great aspects of the "Dolphin" goes on and on. My wife and I have traveled to most parts of the world and prefer to keep returning to the Walt Disney World Dolphin, it just feels comfortable. I highly suggest a visit, you will not be disappointed. Dr. Mike
