"Fabulous Don Cesar"

We had a wonderful time at the Don Cesar, the staff, the atmosphere, the location, all superb. Room was lovely, we had a Grand Junior Suite with balcony and a great view of the Gulf from our bed and balcony. The Maritana Restaurant has a good reputation but we never made it there as we fell in love with the Sea Porch Restaurant were the food and service was great and the sunsets fantastic; I would recommend an outside table in front of the Rowe bar where you can watch the sun go down while sipping a cocktail and then enjoying some lovely food. The pools were also excellent and staff really helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Overall an excellent hotel, ideal for a chill after the 'excitement' of Orlando. We will definitely be back to the Don Cesar.

"Great time and a great hotel "

We loved our stay, the hotel and staff were great. We really loved the pools and beach, neither were overly crowded and the staff was very helpful with chairs, towels and anything else we asked for. The breakfast at the patio was also great and the hotel is conveniently located.

"Not 5 star"

This was not the 5 star that we thought it should be. We booked a delux gulf view room for 3 adults. The hotel looked like a pink gem 💎 in the ocean, beautiful at first sight, but once we were shown our room, so disappointed, it only had two small double beds in it, in a delux room we expected at least a queen or king size bed as in most American hotels, the room was not very big either and the bathroom was even smaller a round sink made it difficult to enter the room then the toilet itself was so near the wall it was impossible to sit on it in a straight position. The view was of the car park and yes we could see the gulf as long as you stood to the left of the window and looked. We had one small wardrobe and one set of draws, really for 3 adults. The net curtains were ripped. We did complain, but to no avail, 5 star I don't think so. Also asking for a kettle anybody would think I wanted the moon, we did eventually get one. The support staff i.e. Cleaners etc. We're great. Will never go back.so very disappointed, after waiting over a year expecting 5 star luxury what a shame.

"Beyond our expectations!"

An unexpected twist in our original destination hotel landed us at The Don CeSar, From the moment we came over the bridge and viewed the "Pink Palace" we knew that fate intervened in our favor. We immediately fell in love with this iconic hotel. The moment you are greeted by the bellman & front desk person set the tone for what you can expect during your visit. Personable and welcoming! Our room was not ready when we arrived so we decided to walk around the hotel to get familiar with the beautiful grounds, restaurants, lobby bar and pool area, We were greeted by Jacob, pool manager and he gave us a quick overview of the pools, beach area, pointed out the pool bar and the Rowe restaurant. He also introduced us to Jeffeth which helped us daily at the pool with towels, chairs, umbrella and table. He always had a huge smile and called you by name. Our pool server Lucy was also at the top of our list providing quick service whenever you raised your flag! We will miss all of the pool staff~~~a great group of employees that care about the guests. Our room was on the 3rd floor and a wonderful surprise as we opened the door. I had read multiple reviews prior to booking and expected small with a partial ocean view at most. Not so with our room! Spacious for a hotel built in 1920's. great oceanfront view, ample closet and drawer space and also a little alcove with a wet bar! Yes, the bathroom area is a little tight but again you need to understand the age of the hotel. Everytime we left the room in the morning, our room would be cleaned within an hour! Thank you Rachael for taking such great care of us and providing extra towels or moisturizer when requested. We also loved the nightly turn down service! We ate lunch almost daily at the Rowe and enjoyed great food and service. Portions are large enough to split, especially at lunch. We will miss our daily dose of lobster chowder. In our 6 day, 5 night stay, we started our evenings at the Lobby bar with a cocktail and enjoying the music before heading out for the evening. Our last night we ended at the Rowe bar and enjoyed the conversation with the 2 bartenders which I am sorry to say I forgot their names. They captivated us with some history of the hotel, some of which we already knew but they added some flavorful stories of their own! Sorry for my lengthy review but there are so many wonderful things about this hotel to share. They captured our hearts and look forward to our next vistit!

"Hard to describe. Wierd old hotel. Mobster's from the 20's and 30's loved it."

Small rooms. Tons of pool chairs. Expensive drinks. and Salt Water Taffy at the front desk. The rooms were really small. They call this place the Pink Castle. When you arrive they have lots of people to help you get registered. Bell men, concierges, front desk fully staffed. AS a matter of fact, I don't recall a time on the property where I couldn't see at least two employees. Bars are attractive, and you pay a bit more for it which is acceptable. But it would be great if people knew how to dress n a place like that. There is a band of 60 year old guys playing in the evening several nights a week. Possibly the worst drummer I have ever witnessed. I can only hope he was substituting. The pool is packed. People go out at 8am to stake out their chairs. If you don't follow their lead, you can give up any hope of getting a chaise. They use the flags on the chairs to alert servers you need something. The food at the pool was better than anything we had in the area all week. Oh dear God, was I glad to leave the St Pete Food scene? LOL A number of retail shops looked nice in the ground floor area. And they have an ice cream parlor that wasn't bad. All in all it was outrageously expensive. I joking called the area the Redneck Riviera while we were there. But many a true thing is said in jest. This is a hotel, not a resort. If you go with that attitude you won't be disappointed. It just wan't close to anything I was expecting for the price.
