Kauai is het oudste en liefelijkste eiland van de Hawaii eilandengroep. Zonnige stranden omzomen hier regenwouden en met pijnbomen beklede berghellingen.

"Great View"

   22-03-2017
Although we stayed in what they called a partial ocean view we could see the ocean from 3/4 of our balcony. The resort is quiet and the grounds well kept. We discovered after we got there (we had 26 in our group) that the units were owned by different persons as they didn't have all the same amenities inside , ie, toasters, and fewer dishes. The only potential downside was that there was no elevators in the buildings so that could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The rooms were clean and well kept. The pool was small and cold but if you went into the hot tub immediately after then you warmed up.

"Down-home spread by the beach"

   20-03-2017
Very family friendly spread of multiple three story buildings surrounded by large lawns and landscaping. You can get some sand and ocean time then rinse off and hit the pool. Pool is pretty small and not great for real little kids but there's a poolside bar and three communal gas grills. The unit we stayed in was clean and pretty recently renovated but alas suffered from the critical lack of drying apparatuses that other locales in Hawaii all seem to. There's a sign asking you to not drape your wet stuff on the furniture but only one towel rack and one paltry door-back adhesive hook supplied for the myriad damp towels, bathing suits, and sink laundry items that happen during beach themed vacations! Coin-op laundry, a good cafe and separate coffee shop where they roast the beans right on site are welcome accessories. Some units are residences, some VRBOs, and maybe some owned by the hotel? A bit of a mixed bag with long-term residents and tourists but everyone is very friendly.

"Nice Low-key resort"

   20-03-2017
We enjoyed the easy atmosphere at this resort. Very good service, clean and well kept grounds. Our room had a crumbling ceiling, water damage I guess, looked bad but was ok. Enjoyed being able to prepare our own meals (dishes provided) and use the BBQ as dining prices are high. Beds were very soft, took a week to not have a back ache in the morning. Big draw back is parking. Staff who work there and at the shops park in the lot which is not big enough for the size of the resort. If you go out for dinner you may not be able to park when you get back. Also, after spending a day at the pool we were bitten very badly, bugs unknown and didn't know it was happening and it happened more than twice. No elevator so if you are disabled get a first floor room. We weren't aware that after booking the resort thru an agent that it had an extra daily use fee tacked on so we had to pay almost $300 extra at check out.

"Excellent 23 years ago, very poor now"

   20-03-2017
Having first stayed here for 3 weeks in 1994, and having visited 6 times since, this once-charming property has become nothing more than a collection of condos. The Sand Bar, on the rare occasions it is open, is staffed by excellent people, but as far as the hotel management are concerned, is an inconvenient afterthought. There is little to no nightlife in the area, as Trees Lounge is not somewhere I would drag my worst enemy, and the Coconut Marketplace is like a scene from The Waking Dead nowadays.

"Kauai, Hawaii Heaven on Earth"

   19-03-2017
We decided on Kauai the garden island over the other islands because it was said to be the least commercialized, the best beaches, and a lay back attitude. Well every thing we heard was under stated this island is definitely one of the best places to visit. We stayed at the Aston Islander on the beach. Resort was very nice, we decided on the ocean front and the short walk from our ground floor room to the beach was excellent. Nice clean and comfortable with no one running out at 6 am to grab chairs, there was no rush to do anything, very rest full. This was not the best beach on the island when I go back I will stay at the Popui beach on the south west side. Traffic was very polite no racing and horn honking We took the Sunshine Helicopter ride on day two to locate places to visit for the rest of our stay The north shore had the big breakers and very nice local shops This island is definitely a return trip
