"A perfect holiday. "

We loved our mini-break at the Outrigger Beach Resort. We had not been to Waikiki before and only had 4 days to explore, relax and enjoy this lovely part of Hawaii. We chose an Ocean View room which was on the side of the building, but had an amazing view of the water and beach that we could see from our bed. On arrival, we were greeted by Lei who went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after. We couldn't get into our room until later, but Lei offered us a room to freshen up and get changed in. Next time, we would take advantage of this, pop our bathers on and go to the beach. We didn't, instead we left our bags at the hotel and did a bit of shopping. We were thrilled with our room, loved that we were on such a busy street with shops like Macy's, H&M, Louis Vuitton, Chanel etc...lots of variety. The restaurants at the hotel were great, but we also had lots of cafes and restaurants close by, like the Cheesecake Factory. The highlight for my husband was the tour that he booked at the front desk for a doors off helicopter trip with Novictor Helicopters. We will definitely be back and can't wait to swim at the perfect beach again.

"Magnificent Mile Aloha Style"

We booked this through Pleasant Holidays ( big mistakey will get to that later) based on it's beach. It has the largest piece of open sand, we know because we walked the entire beach, some hotels only have a boardwalk. The greeting at check in is marvelous, comfy chairs, flower for your hair GOM drinks (guava orange mango) served in champagne flutes with cool wash cloths to refresh yourself. Prepare yourself for the additional $30 a day resort fee (pays for wifi, two daily bottled waters you will need to refill on the hour, the Waikiki Connection trolley (blue logo)- no not the Waikiki Trolley that one is orange. Be sure to get the Waikiki Connection schedule little blue book and the activities calendar lots of freebies to do bummed I did not find all the TRUE info until the last day of my trip. Sigh. Room has a mini fridge perfect for our dining ocean side on our patio. Coco Cove had best deals on lunch and drinks. Bought fresh pineapple sliced and bananas here. Seattle's Burnt coffee actually makes a great cup of Kona. Pay for a lanai and ocean view worth the sunrises and ocean sounds. Our first room given to us was less than stellar- conveniently located between the ice machine room overlooking the bus sized roaring air conditioner. Room 420-ish would be great for a 20 year old who stays out all night partying. We live on the deck and love the sound of the ocean at night. Plus we did not book partial ocean view-it's a thing- don't pay for it you will hate it. Front desk let us preview room 120 which we took and love. King beds are rare just have them turn the doubles into a mega king. Free tote is handy for excursions and the pool. Been lugging our snack bar and mags in it all week. Worked great at the farmers market. Luxury bath kit is awesome coconut lime made custom for the hotel -add a Korean mask from Sephora across the street and you've got an in room spa! My skin feels great! Getting Here from HNL: speedy shuttle is awesome they call you make sure they have you so nice. bought the lei's do it once but I will warn you it makes you are target for the not so honest types Elevators: oh my glob SLOW and you have to program your room number in (swipe, type, stand) so glad we were on the first floor. Pool Area: Grab a seat by 9 AM for best pick (shade, cabana chair, full sun) bring earbuds to tune out screaming toddlers that need a nap, crocodile Dundee crass jokes and loud complaints in Boris Yeltzen accents. Our favorite poolside snack, basket of salty fries for $5. 1-3 is uber hot please bring a hat and sunscreen or go to lunch -save your skin! Best browning time is 9-noon and 4-6. Mixed drinks are good $11-14 each Bathroom for pool area: next to UPS in the hall way. front desk had me running upstairs to Dukes until I tripped on this! You need your room key to open the door Hot Tub: this is the rub- the hot tub area is also the stage for Duke's restaurant bands. Tub closes at 3 almost every day. A real crank when your feet hurt from hiking and shopping all day. Oh there are official hours but the frowny pool guy shuts the jets off and waits with the solar cover impatiently. We made him wait yesterday whilst the young men removed 40 patio chairs for the happy hour band. Ha ha! Beach: largest one next to the public park get your vitamin Sea in here! you can rent whatever you would like or need. We just body surfed and acted like flotsam and jetsam. The Catamaran is $25 for an hour ride and the canoe is $10 Stroll out at night we watched the Pink Palaces Luau from the beach ha ha! They had a guy that looked like the Rock spinning fire in places it should never go! Shopping: literally like the location of the Westin on the Magnificent Mile Chicago GREAT luxury shopping They just remodeled the International center and the Royal Hawaiian next door are awesome landscaping From 6-9 pm stroll the gardens, listen to free music, grab a coffee the torches light the way. Want Godiva Soft Serve ice cream or a Dole Whip toddle over to the first floor of T Galleria. Soooo goood. Car Rental: You do not need a car. Trolley: Waikiki Connection is free to use it is brown like a San Fran Trolley with the blue logo on your room key. Takes you to Diamond Head, stops for picture ops that are fabulous, and the farmers market that is worth the trip. Waikiki Trolley required two bucks exact change each way or buy a pass this one is bright orange and runs every 10 minutes. Pink line takes you to the big famous mall ( same stuff you have right outside your door but if you must go you must!) Concierge Desk and Orientation Buffet at Hard Rock: They are not employees of Outrigger, they are on commission and they do not have accurate info. Most live in the burbs and have not personally done the activity they are selling. Talk to a local or read the Hawaii Mom blog she's for reals. Free gift is a lame (coupon book every tourist is using) and a $100 off an activity. See below for more on that. Orientation is a SCAM operated by Wyndham to sell you a time share. If you want a free breakfast (minus fruit -really weird) and a free ride at the Hard Rock come on brah! The photographer is GREAT best shot of hubby and I all vaycay. For $20 I have a lovely professional photo of our 15th and little prints for the parental units. The Polynesian center comes down to sing and dance our ukulele lady was Hawaiian Alabama Shakes really good. Your guide speaking (Looks like Shatner) needs to see a therapist or check out JW.org he told us his political views re: pearl harbor, plight of the Hawaiian people (yes Dole stole the kingdom, USA made it a thing, native people once again screwed) that if you don't book all your activities TODAY you are going to wish you had another day (GRADE A LIE we found more cool FREE stuff just by walking or waiting on other things like the Banyan Tree at Surfrider (sooo cool) or Slice of Waikiki while stuck in traffic) Want the free tote it is chintzy- you can buy a better one at CVS for $1.50. Voucher: DO NOT USE THE $100 voucher it is NOT "Just breakfast" it is a two hour (ours was 3 b/c we said no on so many levels) one on one shake down to get you to finance a $20k timeshare on Beachwalk at 16% APR. Maintenance fees are $45 a month for LIFE and transfer fees are $250 to stay at another property. Home Away I'm coming back baby! Oh and they have 200k members which tells me this "condo" has been sold at least 200 times over. Any financial planner will advise you to walk away from a prepaid vacation you may or may not use. So they will feed you breakfast twice -is it worth 8 hours of Aloha? Would I stay here again? Oh yeah just bring your street smarts it is not as chill as Maui it's Chicago with sun.

"Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting"

We stayed at the Outrigger as a recommendation from our TA. We usually are faithful to Marriott but the hotel that we wanted to stay at was full (there was an insurance convention in town). The Outrigger is a beautiful hotel and the staff is top notch. Our room was at an angle enough where we were facing another hotel/apartment complex but still had a great view of the beach. When we checked in, we were pleasantly treated to a Hawaiian drink. Very refreshing after the long flight from Ohio. The room was beautiful, and clean, and on our bed was a tote bag which came in handy for carrying towels to the beach. The only negative thing about our experience was that we tried to have lunch at the hotel but the bar was full and there was no other option as the other restaurant was not open for lunch. It did have a great breakfast, however. Would definitely stay there again if given the chance!

"Perfect location"

Perfect location right on the beach, pool perfect, amid shops across from the international marketplace, Macy's across the road, Cheesecake Factory on same block & the best bar/eating venue Dukes downstairs. Great staff, beaut room & friendly booking people to arrange & advise on venues to look at. Best value was the catamaran sunset trip from the beachside at Outrigger cost $25 per person with $2 drinks, loved it.

"Waikiki Beach Holiday"

We loved this hotel. The staff were lovely and thought of everything..nothing was a bother. We joined the Discovery loyalty club which enabled us to go on the Trolley bus which took us on an hour tour around the city including Diamond Head. Try to get Henry as your driver. We also joined in the activities like Ukelele lessons with Walli which were fun. We loved our Ocean View Standard room, it was big with a good view of the beach but not Diamond Head. Dukes was great we went there most nights.
