I forget how small the rooms in hotels of big cities are! I was very surprised at how tiny the rooms are, but I think this might be common. I was also very disappointed that there was no closet--just an exposed rack for my clothes to hang on and really nowhere to put my shoes out of the way. I know this is getting a little trendy as I've seen it in another boutique hotel, but it proved difficult to store my things and had there been a second person, I think near impossible. Most of the people at the front desk were friendly--nothing over the top-no one I felt went out of their way to make me feel welcome, but they were your average friendly front desk crew. The hotel is extremely convenient to everything, and for the price, it was a great deal. The workout room is a joke (literally, one treadmill and one other machine) however they have a deal with a nearby gym which I did not take advantage of but it is a good backup when they have such limited space. I did eat at the attached restaurant and thought that was good food and average value.I prefer chain hotels, but this was great for the price.
"Awesome dog friendly hotel."
Darsalle and Luckas were awesome! They were very accommodating and even let us have a later check out. This is a dog friendly hotel and they treated my dog like a king and provided a dog bed for him. The Boxer is in walking distance to Quincy Market, Boston Aquarium, and lots of pubs and shops.
"Good stay, no major complaints"
Nice hotel, well positioned in Boston. Slightly dark decor. Clean room with plenty of space. Slightly thin walls; kept awake all night by a couple fighting! Minibar prices pretty steep; 4 bucks for a bottle of water seemed a little high to me.
"Great service at the Boxer"
First time visit to the Boxer. We were pleasantly surprised by the charm of the building. The front desk staff (Luckas and Co) ran out in the rain to help us get the car parked. Then came the hot tea with honey for my wife who had lost her voice. The hotel is small enough that the staff remembers who you are. So while you are in a city they make feel like you are in a village. We will be going back soon. Can't say enough about Luckas. Thanks!
"Tip Top Service"
My girlfriend had to go to Boston for job training over Valentine's Day and I wanted to surprise her with something in the room when she arrived. I called The Boxer ahead of time and was assisted by a gal named Mariah L. She did an AMAZING job setting up a welcome gift. She even offered to write a handwritten note to go with the flowers and chocolates that she went and picked up herself...unbelievable customer service. Needless to say, my girlfirend freaked when she saw what was waiting for her. Bravo, Mariah! I have never stayed at The Boxer, but, whenever I go to Boston, I will be a loyal customer moving forward. It's hard to find that quality of service anymore. If you see Mariah walking around the hotel, be sure to tell her I said thanks again. :) Thanks so much Mariah and The Boxer!
