We stayed at the Boxer two nights and we had a very good time. The hotel is near downtown and is very comfortable. Bryan and Mark have been very friendly with us, accomplishing all our requests and pampering us with a lot of gifts. Thank you for all. Veronica and Alessandro
"Wanted to love it...."
The Boxer Boston is in a very cool building on Merrimac near the TD Garden. We stayed here for 5 nights last week for a family vacation. There are only 3 of us so we booked the king junior suite with pull out couch. We arrived early (around 1:30) but they had a room ready so we were happy about that. Well, this room was on the second floor, tons of street noise could be heard, the shower was broken/dripping. Someone had placed a towel under the drip so it had to be a known problem. The carpet was worn and pulling back from the bathroom door entrance. Not great. We called the front desk and asked if we could wait for a different room. We were immediately accommodated and shown to a room on the 5th floor. All was well. Until that night when our exhausted 16 year old tried to sleep on what has to be the thinnest mattress on the squeakiest pull out bed EVER. Otherwise the room was nice, tiny closet but we managed. Bathroom is a decent size. The only other problem we had was that we came back to the room around 4pm from a long hot day of sight seeing and our room had yet to be serviced. Housekeeping knocked around 5 I think but we just asked them to leave some towels. We never mentioned the pull out bed to management as there wasn't much they could do about it, our son ended up sleeping on the sofa instead. I feel that for the price we paid, we could have all been a little more comfortable.
Very happy with our stay. Super clean, very friendly staff. We arrived late evening hoping to find a room to stay after we had to cancel our reservations at another hotel. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The front desk was kind enough to book the Duck tours for us. A few minutes walk to Quincy Market! Great experience, will def consider staying there with my family again.
This was the first time that we stayed at this hotel. It was not on our list of places to stay in Boston simply because we had never heard of it. However, we saw it online and liked the reviews and price so we took a little chance. Very happy we did. The hotel is in a great part of town and there is so much to do no matter which direction you head. Awesome room, great staff and very helpful and friendly. We were only there for a night but will stay there again for sure.
"Great location...helpful staff...and free bikes!"
My wife and I stayed at the Boxer for our first visit to Boston. We had just about every 'tourist' attraction on our agenda and if you are looking for a hotel conveniently located to the Freedom Trail, the Wharf, North End, West End, the subway line and anything in between - this is a great choice. As another added bonus they have about 4-6 bikes that are complimentary on a first come-first serve basis. When we booked they had a complimentary breakfast special going on which was perfect for starting your day. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. We were concerned when we only saw one elevator, but we never had to wait. The rooms are a little on the smaller side and a little darker than I'd like, but we didn't plan on spending much time in there. If we had the kids with us, I could see some frustration trying to move around the room. The L'Occitane toiletries were an added bonus as they are one of my favorites. I did have one downside, which was a bad skin reaction to whatever they use to clean their linens. I developed a skin rash that they mentioned may have been due to the 'environmentally smart' process they use to clean their linens. They were very prompt to try and resolve the issue and even washed our linens separately for the remaining nights of our stay. I have never had anything like this happen before, but if you have sensitive skin I might think twice. My wife had no issue so it was definitely just something that didn't mix well with me.
