"Set your expectations low, expect to be disappointed"
Terrible wifi, no doorman, reception never picks up the phone when calling internally despite two of them standing there, sent us up to a room which was still occupied, then looked surprised, air con was on arctic setting over night and stopped working during the day. Honestly for the price a very poor show
"Get what you pay for!"
Photos, especially on their website are very misleading! The lobby and hallways may look good, but rooms are falling apart. Was first given the wrong room from what we booked. Then our new room was just lackluster beyond belief. The window curtains only opened, couldn't get them to close, and being 10 feet or so high, it was a pain to get them to close. The chair in the room was so stained and disgusting I wouldn't go near it. All of the furniture is chipped and cracking. The TV got about 20 channels, half were in another language or the picture/sound was distorted. The bathrooms were more of the same. Maybe they were going for the modern look, but only half the shower door is there, so we ended up with a soaking wet, marble floor, really safe!! The toilet seat was about to fall off the toilet, and there was no fan in the bathroom. To top it off, as I looked up while we were walking out of the room, I noticed the fire sprinklers weren't even sticking through the holes cut for them in the ceiling, again really safe!! Even the signs on the elevators showing the emergency exits were all scratched up and illegible. There were ice buckets in the room, but I have no idea if there's even an Ice machine there, since there was NOTHING about the hotel in our room. NO information, no numbers, not even a piece of paper. Just a pen and menu for the steakhouse.
"Only a 2 star hotel...NOT a 4 star!"
I wished I would've read more of the reviews on this hotel before making reservations. We've decided after our stay at this "4 star hotel" in New York that we wouldn't stay at another of Eurostar hotel. The size of the room was small as this is the norm for NYC & so it was expected...not a big deal. (This was our 4th visit to NYC). The attendant gave us a handicap room when we did not ask for one & we'd pre-booked the hotel in advance so we believe it wasn't the "last available room". The room smelled of smoke. It was very, very warn out. The bathroom floor corner grout was moldy, the shower had no soap dish/holder so we had to put our bar of soap on the floor. There was no holder for our hand towel. The sink drain had 2 syringed needles that were moldy which must've been there some time. The guest/public bathroom was FILTHY, no soap or towel to wash your hands & one of the two toilets was plugged. My husband said the breakfast was ok. When we told the front desk the guy handed us his personal card & said next time you come we'll give you the penthouse! (We laughed & joked like this would ever happen..either he wouldn't be working there or deny he said it or the penthouse would be booked). I told the front desk no way would I ever stay at a Eurostar again & he said "here's a $40.00 credit". SHAME ON Eurostars. I'd give this hotel a 2 star rating if that.
"Good Price Shabby Rooms"
Only in town for 2 days and the original hotel couldn't extend us the 2nd day. This was 2 blocks away and reasonably priced. The person at the desk when we checked in was extremely helpful and very kind. A later encounter with another young man - not so nice. The room was large but was very dated and needed a good cleaning. The bed was comfortable and the linen was clean although the pillow cases scratched my face!! The television froze on every other channel. Glad it was only for 1 of the 2 nights and that we were out and about most of the day and evening.
"This place is a dump"
Photos are misleading. Hotel is drab and not clean. Staff is clueless. My tv didn't work. Bed was like sleeping on a slab of rock. Pillows are stuffed with synthetic material. The room was downright depressing. I left for the airport this morning three hours earlier than I had to because frankly the airline lounge is a nicer place to spend my time in Run don't walk away from this place
