New Orleans is natuurlijk de stad van jazz, blues en cajun. Met geluiden van blues en jazz, klinkend vanuit de op alle straathoeken gelegen bars, komt het 'French Quarter' tot leven. Royal Street met vele antiekwinkels en Bourbon Street met een keur aan restaurants en cafés zullen uw dagen en avonden vullen. Het zwoele, tropische klimaat en de vriendelijke de mensen voelen als een aangenaam warme deken. Dus, proef het leven in deze swingende stad en verwen uw zintuigen!

"Lovely hotel, no attention to noise or females"

My husband booked this hotel for a business meeting. He had a cancellation, it was non-refundable so I flew down to enjoy a pre Mardi Gras weekend trip here. When I arrived, there was no door person to open door and help me with luggage. I was greeted pleasantly by staff and got into my room on fifth floor, no view. I wasn’t drinking, but appreciated that they offered a happy hour. I spent the day sightseeing, taking tours, etc and settled in around midnight which is early for the city. I was awakened about 5:45 am by a door directly across from my room which was a staff room for linens and amenities. After three or four loud slams I went out into the hall in my pajamas and asked them if they could be a bit quieter. They were nasty to me, ignored me completely. I never got back to sleep. The hotel could remedy the situation with a silent door, and instruct the staff not to scream at each other in the hall.. When I left, I ordered an UBER to arrive at side entrance to avoid the crowd in front, but the staff made no effort in helping her arrive at the right place. They didn’t apologize. They are perhaps sexist and don’t appreciate a woman traveling alone, though I was polite and tipped generously. If you book here, find out where their service rooms are and beware. They are hired to start early and are loud, screaming and unapologetic.

"Perfect place to stay"

We decided to stay at the Royal Sonesta because of the reviews on trip advisor. This was the perfect place to stay. It is ideally located on Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The oyster bar had the best chargrilled oysters and crab cakes we have ever tasted. We ate there twice on our four day visit. The bar is great for a drink and jazz bands play nightly. We did stay on the quiet side of the hotel which was nice. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to New Orleans.

We have traveled to New Orleans for the past several years during the spring to enjoy the food and search for the perfect Manhattan. Our favorite place to stay is at The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street! We stay on the Club Level (7th Floor) and Darin, the Club concierge, takes wonderful care of us - we feel like he is family. He helped us in our perfect Manhattan quest by calling downstairs and locating 18-year old Sazerac rye whiskey in their own bar. He also told us about $1 oysters (raw and char-grilled) in Desire Oyster Bar. Plus, he always looks after us with restaurant choices and city activities. Then there is the Club Room - a great place for pre-dinner nibbles & drinks or you can make a meal of it. Patricia took great care of everyone in the Club Room! The bread pudding was as good or better than anything we tasted elsewhere! Housekeeping was very good and everything in the room worked just the way it should! We are looking forward to our next visit!

"BEWARE - Overcharged on my bill by thousands!"

While I must agree with the reviews about the convenience of the hotel to the French Quarter and the nice amenities, the staff and accounting at the hotel needs some serious review and attention. I booked my reservation for one room, three nights, a month in advance of my stay online. The following week I booked another room via telephone with reservations for a colleague in his name, and a third room a few days later online for another colleague in his name. All reservations held with my credit card with the colleagues presenting their cards for payment upon check-in. I called to confirm all reservations after I made the third one. On my arrival date at the hotel, both of my colleagues were assigned rooms and checked in. I was told there were no more rooms for me even though I had a reservation number, had called four hours earlier to confirm, and I made my reservation first. I was sent to another hotel at 11pm at night and told to return the following day to check in. I was able to check in but now wished I hadn't. During our stay, my colleagues became trapped in the elevator for 30 minutes at 11pm. The hotel staff did not respond to the emergency call button and my colleagues texted me to go to the front desk to alert them of the emergency. After 20 minutes of being trapped, the hotel staff tried to pry the elevator door open and it revealed the elevator car was stuck between two floors. The staff then placed chairs below the elevator and asked the trapped passengers to get on the floor of the elevator and jump down onto the chairs because the hotel did not have a ladder. What??? Elderly occupants on the elevator suffered panic attacks and were dehydrated. The biggest fiasco occurred when we got ready to check out. The hotel had the incorrect room rate in the computer even though my confirmation had a different rate. The front desk manager argued with me for 15 minutes and told me to go get my printed confirmation from my luggage that was in the car in the valet. Really? The rate was finally corrected, but here's the kicker: My credit card was charged 5 different charges totaling $2200.00, by boyfriend's credit card was charged almost $700 in one charge, and one of my colleagues credit cards was charged $1200 upon check-in, another $1200 during the stay, and another $1500 upon checkout. Mind you the total charge for each room for three nights should have been $593 and there were no incidental charges. We attempted to contact the hotel manager, accounting, front desk, and anyone else that would listen but no one could assist us. We called Sonesta corporate on several occasions and while they assured us that a manager would call us back, it took over a week and 2 more phone calls to get them to call us back. The stay at the hotel was almost 3 weeks ago and while my colleagues charges are corrected, we are still waiting to have our credit cards credited the erroneous amounts. Terrible, terrible customer service!!! Stay away!

"Excellent Hotel and Location"

This was the fourth year in a row we selected the Royal Sonesta as our home base during the annual French Quarter Festival. We love the hotel and the location. We especially enjoy the Jazz Playhouse, PJ's coffee and the fitness center. The staff is very friendly. Upon checking in this year, I mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Shortly after checking in we had a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine delivered to our room. This was a nice touch and greatly appreciated.
