"New Orleans, DRA"
Simply excellent, room much to small for a 3 day visit!!!! This was our third visit in two years, this room was just standard, disappointing! We were spoiled on our first two visits!!! Nevertheless we are not complaining!
"Wonderful in every way!"
We spent four nights here last week.Wonderful experience in every way...good location, beautiful room over looking the courtyard, and staff were outstanding.Amari at the front desk accommodated our room request and explained we may have to move on the fourth night. She was nice enough to track us down Thursday to let us know we could stay put.Tenitia in the Desire Bar was kind enough to serve our breakfast in the court yard when no one else was out there, and Chanel in the Jazz Club was very kind. We were within walking distance of a lot of great attractions and the noise from Bourbon Street was never an issue.Loved New Orleans and this place!
"Lovely, quaint hotel, great location"
Stayed here with my sister back in September. Had a Bourbon Street balcony room. It was fun sitting out at night on the balcony people watching down below. It was a little noisy, but they provide earplugs, and I had no issues sleeping. The hotel was very nice. We booked a couple of months ahead of time and got a good price.
"Not a bad hotel"
The hotel is located on Bourbon Street. For those that have not been to New Orleans, Bourbon Street is a bit grotty (with all manner of bars and strip clubs) and is certainly the party hub of New Orleans. At night the street closes and it gets crowded with people partying and drinking. The street is noisy. The hotel accommodated our request for a room that was not near the noise of the street. The rooms are small and could do with updating but our room was clean and reasonably well decorated. We ordered room service twice. My husband organised for champagne and strawberries to be in the room when we arrived, it was not. We also ordered continental breakfast in the room. While it arrived on time it was a disappointment, the only good item was any good was croissant. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bell man and concierge were especially helpful.
I stayed at the Royal Sonesta for three nights. This was my first visit to New Orleans and the location was amazing, right in the middle of the French Quarter. I received a room overlooking Bourbon Street, which made me a bit nervous, since partying doesn't end until very late into the night. The hotel provides earplugs, if you are worried about noise. I was able to sleep decently, but maybe that has something to do with being from New York. I appreciated the Security Guards stationed in the lobby on busy Friday and Saturday nights, so only guests could access the elevators. The room was a good size, had a great flat screen TV, refrigerator and coffee maker. There was a well-equipped fitness center in the basement, and a nice pool. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but sat at one of the tables overlooking it one afternoon. Can't comment on the hotel's restaurants, since I always ate outside. New Orleans has countless places for amazing food. However, there were a few hiccups. The internet was a bit slow, especially considering that I was given a free "high speed" upgrade, due to being a member of Sonesta's loyalty program. The bathroom vanity was very small, which I think was because of a column in the wall. Pictures of other rooms showed much larger counters. However, one incident really annoyed me. I left a Tropical Isle Hand Grenade cup on the desk, planning to take it home as a souvenir. When I returned one day after the room was serviced, the cup was gone. I contacted the housekeeping department, and whoever I spoke to had an attitude of "Oh well. Sorry, nothing we can do." I expected better from a hotel of this caliber. Clearly don't leave anything out that can be misconstrued as garbage. I went back to Tropical Isle and got another Hand Grenade to replace the cup, but I feel that shouldn't have been necessary. Overall, the Royal Sonesta is a great base for exploring New Orleans.
