"Not so good"
Been going here for many years, had daughters wedding here! This time things were bad, made reservations on 8-21-17 to stay two nights 8-31 & 9-1-17, upon arrival discovered the elevator has been non operational for a month according to front desk "Chase" and they were putting us on the 9th floor! I said you've got to be joking, no it was like a deer looking into headlights looking back at me, they were dead serious. I couldn't believe it nor did I have time before our show to make any changes. Next our key wouldn't open the parking gate so my wife walked to the front desk and asked "Maggie" if she could open the gate, she wouldn't give my wife the time of day because she left her wallet in the car with me. At this point I'm livid about the treatment my wife received and asked Maggie if she could have asked some challenge questions to determine my wife's identity, or if she "Maggie" could have walked out and opened the gate, again no creditable reply. The hotel is definitely having some front desk staffing issues and maintenance issues. I think I would have been able to overlook some of it if I'd been notified that the elevator was non operational at the time I made the reservation, then I would of had options, I'm not very happy! Oh even though the hotel is operating at far less than 100% they still charged 100%.
"do NOT reserve a room at this hotel!"
I arrived today to check in for a confirmed reservation I made online at the hotel's website nearly a year ago, only to be told that my reservation had been "lost" when they changed computer systems, and that they were sold out. They found us a room at their "sister" property located 3 miles outside of downtown on I-5. The hotel offered no compensation even though I had a printed reservation confirmation. Even if they'd had a room, their only elevator has been out of order for over a month, and it's a high-rise building of at least six stories. We've stayed there before but never will again - it's obviously gone downhill.
"Cozy Rooms with Nice Views and Pleasant Decor"
The rooms are decorated in a Victorian style, and the lobby has the feel of planation decor with lots of soft yellow tones. The beds are decently comfortable, and there are full bathtubs with showers that appear to have been updated in the recent past. The rooms are relatively small, however. When I visited, the elevator was not working and had not been working for several days. The porters carried our luggage upstairs for us, but we had to walk up and down eight flights of stairs. This was not relaxing, to say the least, but I am sure it's an uncommon occurrence, and the hotel staff was very nice about the whole situation. The continental breakfast that comes with the room is mediocre. The best reason to stay here is that it is really only one block from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's three theaters. When the elevator is working, I am sure it's a fine place to stay.
"A Real Treat"
We love the Ashland Springs Hotel. The rooms are so comfortable, the breakfasts tasty, and the staff is fantastic! I love this place and consider it a real treat to be able to stay here. If you stay, be SURE to dine at least once at the the Larks Restaurant. The food is outstanding and the wait staff make you feel like very special patrons!
"Great hotel for OSF"
We always stay at the Ashland Springs Hotel when we go to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It's the most convenient, very comfortable, and nice touches (breakfast on the garden patio, afternoon cookies, post-performance snacks, access to a great gym, and friendly staff).
