Over Maswik Lodge North
De indrukwekkende Grand Canyon is een van de bekendste en grootste natuurfenomenen ter wereld. Wij raden u dan ook aan voldoende tijd in te plannen voor uw bezoek. Op elk moment van het jaar, ongeacht of u nu komt voor een dag of een hele week, vindt u meer dan genoeg activiteiten om te ondernemen, zoals fietsen, wandelen, etc. Het gerenoveerde North gedeelte van de Maswik Lodge ligt in een uitgestrekt bosgebied, vlakbij de zuidelijke rand. De standard kamers zijn eenvoudig ingericht en bevinden zich in door het bos verspreid liggende gebouwen. De kamers in de Maswik Lodge North beschikken over airco, een koelkastje en een badkamer met bad/douche. Verder zijn er onder meer een café en een sportsbar.

Een van de bekendste Nationale Parken in Amerika is de Grand Canyon in de staat Arizona. Het wordt beschouwd als een van de zeven natuurlijke wereldwonderen. In de loop van miljoenen jaren heeft het water van de Colorado River deze kloof in de bodem ingeslepen. Het Nationale Park wordt in twee helften verdeeld (North Rim en South Rim), die hemelsbreed maar 16 kilometer van elkaar zijn verwijderd, echter als u met de auto van de noordzijde naar de zuidzijde wilt rijden, moet u een afstand van ruim 300 kilometer afleggen!
"Rustic but very nice"
I stayed one night and took the trip down to Phantom Lodge by mule(which I highly recommend!); the room was clean and decent sized so no complaints. The bed was soft, pillows and sheets very clean, and so was the bathroom. The lodge has ample parking and a great buffet style restaurant with a good variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful. One negative thing I must report: although the front desk staff member that held my items for my mule trip was helpful, he didn't seem to be real thrilled that I asked him to do so and was a bit miffed with me when I had to retrieve them quickly. Other than that, my over all experience was good. I can honestly recommend this as a good place to stay.
"Best NP Inn We Stayed In"
Maswik Lodge consists of a number of small lodges with a central visitor's center/gift shop/dining area. Our room was roomy, updated, had AC (room at Yellowstone did not) TV and (slow) paid Wi-Fi internet although I logged in to internet and was not asked for a credit card. The restaurant is run sort of like a cafeteria but our breakfast was fast cooked to order. The food was better than many of the hotel breakfast buffets we ate at. NP lodging is not always the best but our room had new paint, carpet and bath. Very pleased.
On the shuttle route but a short walk to the canyon rim. The rooms are dated but that is the same in all of the hotels inside the park. The activities desk in the lobby was a plus. Lot's of wildlife around the buildings and air conditioning!
"Time travel to the 1960s at Maswik Lodge"
First I should warn you - you must book all properties in the park at least 9 months in advance. I checked in July 2016 for a room in May 2017 and my only choice was a second floor room in the older area of Maswik Lodge. The room was very reasonable - $129 a night for the 3 of us. I paid one night as a deposit when I booked it. It was clean and the location is the best - a 5 minute walk brought us to the edge of the canyon. We saw elk every day. Wow. The room itself was two double beds with ancient bedspreads that I did not want to touch. The pillows were awful - bring your own. The window opened and there were two fans. We did not miss the air conditioning. The bathroom and linens were clean and adequate and the room had a small fridge and a Kurig coffee machine with lots of coffee pods. There is a cafeteria and pizza pub in the complex and it's a short walk to all the other restaurants and bars.
"Fantastic scenery "
In fairness you aren't going to be in the rooms if you are staying here and it's a brilliant location but I had a negative experience on checking in. My reservation which was paid months in advanced was lost it did not exist. Now in fairness to the staff they were polite and professional so this is not at them, but we had just driven 5 hours to be told you have no reservation. We were made to pay for another room while they looked into it. This put a dampener on our honeymoon as we are from Australia and doing it on a budget so that $169 dollars was felt. On going for a walk around we returned and found they had eventually found our booking and the money would be returned. A week on we still don't have that money. The rooms are small and kind of dank, a couple of small fans (it is very warm). They do say first impressions last so a tip maybe ring and double check they have your reservation
