"In the middle of the park"
Location is definitely its advantage. It’s at the center of the park close to everything. Convenient for all sorts of transportation. The room is relatively clean and well kept, although quite small and out of date. It is really more like a motel than a lodge. The staff is super friendly and helpful even in the midst of a vast crowd. The dining experience is a little weird. There is a big “dining hall†where you place your order from one of the touch screens where they offer meals like burger and pizza, salad, etc. You pick up from the counter and self serve yourself. There is also a restaurant in the same complex where you can sit down and order from the menu. The main issue is always the crowd – there is a line up everywhere so expect delays.
"Merry Christmas - White Christmas"
The room was clean and comfortable! You have everything you need. The bathroom supplies you with shower gel, shampoo, towels etc. There is a TV with all the Channels you need! The beds are comfortable and clean. You can walk in about 10 minutes to the South Rim! Wonderful!
"Overnight stay in Grand Canyon National Park South Rim"
We wanted somewhere close to the South Rim so that we could watch both the sunset and sunrise without having a lengthy journey to and from where we were staying, and Yavapai Lodge provided exactly that. It was very clean, comfortable with a good private bathroom and shower and restaurant and bar close to hand and at £150 ($184) a night was quite a bit cheaper than most of the other South Rim hotels. After all we were only after a bed for the night.
"Quiet and Cool place to stay.."
The Lodge located in the Vicinity of the Grand Canyon is one of the most wonderful places one could stay. Located inside a forest area, the quietness in the surroundings is indeed stunning. We reached around 6 PM in the evening and it soon became pretty dark and chilly. The Sunrise points are mostly located nearby and hence we could wake up around 6.00 Am and managed to reach one of the popular points in just about 15 minutes. The room with Queen beds was comfortable and the bathroom amenities were adequate. Since we did not have dinner or breakfast at the Lodge restaurant, I cannot comment on the food and the services provided. All in all, I loved the ambience of the property and feel that its a good decision to spend a night max.
"Don't Believe What you Read. What they advertise & promote on their website, they refuse to honor."
We chose this hotel BECAUSE they advertise pubicly and clearly on their website that they accept pets. There are lots of reviews about them having been chosen by others because of their positive pet policy too. But importantly, as of the day we made the reservation, their WEBSITE clearly promotes that they accept pets and even has publicly available their pet policy(contract you sign). Actually, I was quite impressed with how clear they were upfront about their pet policy, surcharge, facilities and the section of the hotel you would be in. However, when I called the Lodge to ask a question, I was told in no uncertain terms that "WE ARE A NO PET FACILITY; WE DO NOT ACCEPT PETS". I explained to the young man that there seems to be a misunderstanding because their website is quite clear about accepting pets and even providing the pet policy/contract. He became arrogant, almost surly, telling me he was just a switchboard operator and that there are other hotels in Tusayan that accept pets but they do not. I asked if I could leave a message for the Gen. Mgr to discuss and he said, "I don't know who that is." I've never known a hotel employee who didn't know the name of his boss/G.M. Also note: While they don't honor the amenities/policies they advertise THEY DO CHARGE YOU MONTHS IN ADVANCE IN FULL. They CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD THE FULL TOTAL OF OUR 3 NIGHT STAY within 15minutes of making the reservation, 4 months in advance of our reservation.. Now I have to deal with that. Can you imagine driving 12 hrs to the limited lodging Grand Canyon to find out your reservation would not be honored and your money not refunded by that time, despite their public offering?!!! LESSON: If you are looking at Yavapai Lodge, BUYER BEWARE. NO PETS AND if they are not being honest about one policy/amenity, they probably aren't being honest about other offerings/conditions.....
