Cabins were great! Great view from premium! Wine glasses are not in cabin. Would also be great if a keurig was in the room. Beds comfy, plenty of towels. Furnace a little loud in double bedroom! Great time!
"Favorable Location & Comfortable Room at a Decent Price"
We spent two nights in Building 6 farthest from the Market Place surrounded by light forest thus there was little traffic and no outside noise. As for inside noise, walls were thin as were the floors, so we could hear all the steps of the people above and young children who were allowed to use the hallway as their play area. Behind the building it was dark enough to see the Milky Way, but surprisingly we saw no deer in the area. Our room was a comfortable size with quite pleasant beds and bedding (could have used a 2nd spare blanket). Amenities included a desk sufficiently sized for a laptop, a dresser with 3 drawers, plus a large drawer in the table between desks. Shelves across from the sink (that was separate from the toilet/shower) are quite handy for storage. The room also had a refrigerator, coffee maker, large screen TV, and safe. The heater was fairly quiet. Lighting is adequate. The shower had good hot water, but to get hot water in the sink, the water has to run a while. I was occasionally able to get nearly 2 bars on my phone (there is no Wi-Fi) allowing me to text and check e-mail but not use the Internet or view photos. The Wi-Fi strength in the lodge was minimal. The desk staff was helpful responding to all our inquiries. Food in the lodge cafeteria and the Tavern Restaurant (45 minute wait) was not very good. Item pricing in the stores is very high. The lodge is convenient to driving and to taking the shuttle. The room rate was surprisingly reasonable for such a location and facilities in a National Park, and the room easier to obtain than those located directly on the rim. This is not a luxury lodge by any means, but I give it 4 circles for convenient location, easy parking, and price.
"Affordable and Updated"
We stayed here for a few days after attending a conference in Phoenix. The rooms had been recently updated and were not far from the gift shop and restaurant. We went to El Tovar for dinner (make reservations in advance) and we close to several of the overlook points for great pictures. There is also a grocery store with the hotel area that had everything you will need.
"Convenient and comfortable"
This is the largest of the very few hotels that are actually in Grand Canyon Village. It is situated in a very convenient location. The main lodge is in a very big parking lot that also has a bank and a General Store. The lodge has a cafeteria and a very small tavern/restaurant. The burger we had one night in the "tavern" was pretty good and Masha, our server, was delightful. However, we had to wait almost an hour to get a table so we opted for the cafeteria the rest of the time. There are long lines at the cafeteria but they move pretty quickly. The cafeteria food is plentiful but it tastes like cafeteria food. The rooms are down the road from the main lodge. There is no internet service in the rooms and we would occasionally get one bar of cell service. There was a weak wi-fi signal in the main lodge. But ultimately, we were forced to put away our electronics and just enjoy the Grand Canyon, which was, I think, the idea. :-) The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom sink area was separate from the shower/toilet area, which made it easy for two people to get ready at the same time. There was a very efficient heater in the bathroom which was much appreciated as it was pretty cold when we were there. The bath towels are pretty small unfortunately. While the room was adequate and comfortable, our only real complaint was the water in the bathroom sink. It came out icy cold and it had to be run for at least two minutes before it would begin to warm up. It seemed a shame to waste that much water but there was no way to wash up in water that cold! The best part of being here was the proximity to the blue line shuttles. The Grand Canyon shuttle service was terrific - between all the different colored lines, we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go easily and conveniently. We only stayed here two nights and I would love to come back to the South Rim again sometime soon. I would definitely stay at the Yavapai Lodge again.
"Great affordable place to stay at the Grand Canyon"
We enjoyed our visit to the Grand Canyon and staying inside the park at Yavapi. We stayed at the places that we could pull right up to, which was nice as were traveling with a little one and had way too much baggage. It was super close to the restaurant and general store, which we ate at two nights, and was close to catching the shuttle to get to the Grand Canyon (which was probably less than a half mile walk from our place). Staying at Yavapi also gives you great access to park, especially earlier in the morning and later in the evening after lots of the crowd subsides. The only issue, which on the flip side is nice, is lack of internet. But you don't go to the national parks for the internet.
